Chapter 4 Ego

Two days later, as per Rex Anderson's instructions, the marriage was held by the Anderson family and Ariel was sent to the Anderson Villa.

The venue was decorated with fresh flowers of roses, the atmosphere was filled with romance and it was a beautiful thing to behold.

Ann's family were beaming with joy as the guest congratulated them on their daughter's happy occasion.

Dolled up in a simple wedding dress, Ariel stood by the man on the wheelchair and watched on motionlessly as if the wedding had nothing to do with her. She glanced at the indifference man in the wheelchair with half of his face covered with a mask and she felt he looked scarier than the rumours.

After the banquet, the bride and the groom were sent to Flower Garden villa. Ariel was sent to the room on the second floor. On her arrival, the room was decorated with a lot of red roses, red ornaments, new bed sheets and a lot of accessories to make the room look like a newly wedding room.

Ariel took her seat on the wedding bed with her wedding dress still on. However, her face didn't have the slightest trace of the joy of being a bride. Instead, it was filled with pain and sadness!

Suddenly, her phone rang and she picked it up.

"Ariel, let me warn you that the matter of your marriage must not be made known. Remember it was an honour for you to be married to such a wealthy family as the Anderson. Make sure you don't stir trouble for me and the Ann family, and one more thing, make sure you put in a good word for me and the Ann family."

Not ready to listen to his daughter after dishing out his warnings, he ended the call.

"I can't believe my father wouldn't care about the fact that the man he forced me to marry might never be able to reprocreate as he might have long lost his abilities. Yet he forced me into marrying him and living like a widow and even considered that an honour.

She glanced at the cold cell phone and suddenly laughed. She laughed out loud! Was this her father? In order to climb up to the Anderson and give his lovely wife a better life and not let his precious daughter suffer, he actually forced her, the daughter of his first wife, into the abyss!

She let out a soft 'hum', thinking back to two nights before when she had been deeply entangled with the unknown man and she felt that her life was really good as she had had the taste of what being a woman was and she wouldn't have to die a virgin.

Suddenly, the sound of an electronic wheelchair sliding could be heard outside the room.

Rex Anderson looked at the closed door in front of him and there was a killing intent in his eyes. He made a gesture to Pius, who was following him.

'If you don't want to go to the forest, watch each and every move of the Ann family closely.

"Yes sir"

"Timothy Ann, the game had now officially begun cut the light for five minutes.

Pius looked at his boss and saw the reincarnation of the devil in him. To Pius, Chucky was not as scary as Rex Anderson at that moment.

"Yes sir, young master."

Ariel sat on the bed quietly as she waited for her husband's arrival. She trembled in fear each time she remembered the coldness on the other part of the man's face at the wedding venue.

"Pa"

After she heard that sound, the entire villa was shrouded in darkness. Facing the total darkness, Ariel trembled with fear as she was really afraid of the dark.

After what happened to her while growing up at the Ann's mansion after her mother's death, she was terrified of the dark that she couldn't fall asleep peacefully without the lights on.

Now that she was at the monster's house, she was already worried in the first place. She couldn't believe that her torture would begin the moment she entered the villa.

Subconsciously, Ariel hugged her knees as she shivered in the dark with Rex Anderson's face recurring in her head.

She was so terrified that she didn't notice that the door had been swung open and the sound of the wheelchair in the room.

In the pitch-dark darkness, she felt someone touching her legs as the person lifted her dress.

All of a sudden, Ariel's complexion turned pale and the blood drained from her face. She let out a scream of fright as she retreated backward to stop the hand from going further into her clothes.

Suddenly, a low and hoarse voice echoed in the room accompanied by a menacing laugh.

"My wife..... My wife hahahah.... Why are you scared? I'm your husband, which part of your body should I eat first? hahaha" saying that Rex Anderson got hold of her leg.

"hahaha.... How about I eat your leg first hahahhaha"

Fear gripped Ariel when the man made mention of eating her legs.

"Pleas.... Before she could finish her plea, she felt something cold on her leg.

All of a sudden, the room lights up again and she looks at the man in horror.

That wasn't a face at all, it was full of burnt scars and that part of his face was so scary he looked like a monster that had just climbed out from the depths of hell.

"bwahaha hahaha" Rex Anderson cackled

Ariel couldn't suppress her fear as his demonic laugh sent shivers down her spine.

"Rex Anderson giggled as he said, "my lovely wife, tell me why are you screaming? Is my face that bad? Tell me why you are afraid of me?"

An inexplicable sense of fear struck and Ariel trembled slightly.

"Please don't kill me..... Ariel pleaded with the man.

Rex Anderson looked at the scared little kitten and felt remorseful.

I went too far, he thought.

"I'm not a flesh eater, neither am I a murderer. Let's talk"

Ariel calmed her trembling heart as she breathe in a deep breath

"What is your purpose in marrying me?"

Her hands unconsciously dragged her clothes to cover her lower part when she caught the sight of the man staring at her exposed legs.

"I'm the first daughter of Ann's, and my mother died when I was little, my aunt is burnt beyond recognition lying in the hospital. I don't know when she will leave me and, for the reason why I married you...."

She looked at herself and laughed a self-depreciating laugh and said "I married you for my sister, but now I don't regret it because I know I will have my own family and will also be loved by them.

Rex Anderson looked at her coldly and sneered with a cold and hoarse voice.

"You think I will fall for your words, right? Love and family? How dare you take your sister's place in marrying me? Oh, I guess she refused to listen to Timothy Ann and Fidelis Anderson."

She shook her head vigorously while trying to explain herself to him.

"No, you misunderstood me. I was really forced to marry you and I really want to be family with you, since I have just one family member left to call a family. I understand you can't trust me now, but I believe with time you will find out the truth that I wasn't sent to spy on you. Right now, I swear all I wanted was to form a family with you and take care of you. Please just trust me, for once, if you throw me out of here, I will be homeless.

Ariel guessed that Rex was wary of her father and his uncle, Fidelis Anderson, and his condition would make him be suspicious of every activity around him. She knows she has to be over a hundred percent honest and patient so she won't be thrown out on the street by the monster in front of her.

Sitting on the wheelchair, Rex wanted to tease Ariel more.

"Come here" Rex said.

Ariel came down from the other side of the bed and walked towards him without hesitation, knowing Rex to be wheelchair bound. She squatted down in front of him as she looked up at him.

Rex pinched Ariel's jaw lightly as the other half of his face that was covered in burn scars appeared in front of Ariel.

Her eyes widened.

Even though she had seen it some minutes before, she was still frightened by the scars covering half of his face.

He smiled evilly waiting for her to scream like before or even run away in fear.....

However, Ariel calmed herself down as she looked at him and asked.

"Does your wound still hurt?"

Rex did not expect her to ask him such a question and her reaction made him a little surprised, as he was well aware of the various names people call him "monster, flesh eater etc". There was no longer disgust or fear in her eyes.

Rex pinched Ariel's jaw harder and she gave a little gasp of pain as the man refused to let go of her jaw but pinched it harder instead.

Knowing fully who the man was, Ariel endured the pain and smiled sweetly.

Rex glanced at Ariel's hand on his lap, "Mrs Anderson, are you trying to fool me?"

Ariel shook her head.

"I swear I didn't want to fool you, just give me a chance. It's okay if you can't trust me, but please don't send me out. You can treat me as your maid or your nurse. I'm sure one day you will accept me".

Her innocent and harmless appearance made Rex's heart ache. He wanted to comfort her but he can not afford to bruise his ego.
