Chapter 4 Nancy's POV

Morgan and Anderson's eyes both went to me as I mumbled, "Morgan," in a weak, shaky voice.

As he easily pushed past Anderson, I could see the treachery laced in his now-dark orbs.

His breathing was irregular as he charged at me in two long leaps. Unlike previously, when our gazes had been sweet and enchanting, this time they were sad and heartbreaking.

I had no idea he would... He grasped my hand as I sobbed; he had changed from being angry to sympathetic. He started to rub my knuckles with his thumbs, asking me to talk more and to explain why I came from Anderson's room and why I was here.

What would he do? Morgan interrupted me, tightening his grip on me and pleading with me to respond.

My gaze briefly shifted above him to Anderson, who was slouching nonchalantly against the wall as if nothing was wrong.

My wolf was experiencing internal distress because she wasn't sure if she should be loyal to her forced mate or to her chosen partner. I was deeply terrified as I peered into his vile turquoise windows and saw the strength, the agony, and the hatred he had.

I had to turn back to Morgan when he called since Anderson was giving me a hard look. My face was dripping with tears as I struggled to understand what was going on.

My wolf chipped in, he's our mate now, with a defeated expression on her face. I totally disagreed with her decision.

I did not see any other way to resolve this. I'm aware that she's made it her life's duty to remain devoted to her mate, but just because Anderson had marked us did not mean he assumed our mate's duty.

He'll never be my partner, you say. Anderson's strong voice dominated my ears: "She didn't know I would claim her," and Morgan's brown eyes grew wide.

He moved my dark hair aside to check whether it was true as his big fingers flew up to my neck. His eyes matched Anderson's account, and I could hear him wail with a heartrending howl. He shook his head in disbelief as he experienced the same rush of perplexity that had hit me.

As lines appeared on his eyelids, he tightly closed his eyes. The once-inviting brown tone faded as they sprung back open, now standing like two dead black marbles. "Why?" In a second, Morgan dove in front of his alpha while screaming. He defended me right away and fixed the situation.

"I'm your beta; I guard you, and you took my mate," he said. Although Anderson appeared unconcerned by his actions, the man screamed, sounding betrayed and devastated.

He actually had an arrogant expression that made it clear to me that he was pleased with his deeds.

I'm your Alpha, and you're my Beta, so I'm commanding you to stop right now.

What's done is done, he said quietly, sounding more like a wolf in charge than Morgan. While sensing both of their emotions, mine was in a panic-filled frenzy.

They had a great deal more animosity toward one another than they did toward me. These sensations they shared with one another had a long history and reached the very core of their souls.

Alpha or not, you're out of line. Anderson appeared to become enraged when Morgan boomed.

He immediately squared up with his beta by pushing off the wall with his elbows. Without regard for his position, Morgan lunged to knock Anderson to the ground and let his hands continue to slam into his face.

It was as if Anderson wasn't even being attacked, despite the fact that he didn't appear to be in the least bit hurt by the blows.

Unknown to me, it made me scream because watching them fight was too much and was making my wolf turn inside out. She was sinking from the overwhelming feeling, unable to discern between their emotions.

Morgan turned to me as a result of my outburst, giving Anderson the chance to stand up. Despite the fact that it seemed he could have taken out his Beta at any moment, Morgan gave me a violent shove and flew back, his enraged body rolling past me and down the hall.

I clenched my chest, unable to bear the strain of the two of them arguing. It was tearing me apart physically. I pleaded with them to stop, but they ignored me.

I sprinted down the hallway to where Morgan was now pointing a gun at me without giving it another thought.

I became anxious as Anderson raised his arm in preparation to hit back. I managed to summon enough adrenaline, despite feeling weak, to give Anderson's chest a hard shove.

Unfortunately for me, he was undeterred by my harshest push and continued to stand. All I managed to do was have him focus on me rather than Morgan, but at least it was something.

He motioned for me to "move," but I disobeyed. His vile turquoise eyes locked into mine, sending my heart into overdrive and causing absolute terror to take over my entire body. As I placed my hands firmly on his chest and begged for the strength to keep him back, my wolf's emotions were on high alert.

"You two fighting won't make a difference. " As his eyebrow rose in apparent approval of my reasoning," I yelled.

He bowed his head and carefully and methodically took me in.

He said, "Exactly, you're going to be my Luna." After speaking, he looked at my face, Anderson purred, his hand extending out to keep my jaw in place. A small smirk appeared on his pink lips, suggesting that he was enjoying what he was witnessing.

I sputtered, yanking away from his slack grip, forcing his arm to drop and slam against his front side.

He made it apparent he didn't like my contentious posture by scoffing. I growled as he said as matter of fact, I don't care who your mate is; the fact is I marked you, and when wolves mate, they mate for life. Get used to it, Princess. This is your new world," he said, gesturing toward the pack house.

I kept fighting him, fiercely moving my head. I stumbled, retracing my steps until I was pressed up against Morgan's front. "I don't want to be with you," I said.

Anderson's once confident expression changed to an angry grimace as soon as he put an arm around my waist, appearing horrified that I wanted to be with my true mate.

"Well, too bad," he said, grabbing my arm and yanking me away from Morgan's tender grasp and back toward him. With a mischievous grin, Anderson said, "Whether you like it or not, you're my Luna. Glancing behind me, Anderson winked at Morgan in an effort to stir him up.

Morgan held out his hand and said, "We'll find a way around this. I grasped it without thinking.

Anderson could believe that because he marked me, I was now his property, but he could not be more mistaken. When I turned to face him, I could see his mind working on a strategy.

He didn't object, and the two of us ascended the stairs together without saying another word to the vicious Alpha.
