Chapter 5 5

"Cassidy, I'm telling you. That guy is bonkers. Who in their right mind would pay twenty million just to have your billboard taken down?!" Christian said from the other end of the line. I already explained the situation to him.

"I don't know what he's up to," I sighed as I massaged my head. I get stressed just thinking about what happened at Mr. Chu's office yesterday.

"The guy still likes you. Obviously! And I can't believe Mr. Chu took the cheque!"

"Me too. I was kind of expecting him to veto Aaron's proposal and tear the freakin' cheque in half."

"I honestly don't know what to say. If my phone didn't run out of battery, this wouldn't have happened."

"Psh. Your fault. If you were there, my billboard would still be up on Edsa!" I complained, but he just laughed.

"It's just a damned billboard, Cassi. We'll get a new project soon. Don't worry." After a bunch of jesting, I bid goodbye and ended the call. Aaron stresses me out.

After Mr. Chu accepted the cheque, I angrily stormed out of the building. Aaron tried running after me, but I gave him a death stare. It's probably why no guards intervened, he had his two bodyguards block them.

Damn him! The thought of him makes my blood boil. I need to relax and loosen up. I took a shower and changed into a white floral dress and plain black doll shoes. I grabbed a black shoulder bag from my closet and I'm all set.

I went to a mall. I wanted to call Psyche or Altheia to have someone to accompany me, but those two are busy working. Typical office girls.

I was busy window shopping when I saw a three-piece suit. I was immediately struck with sadness. The suit's style was identical to the one Aaron wore when I went to New York to see him.

I stopped my thoughts abruptly. Reminiscing is never a good thing. I continued walking towards a boutique. Petit monde! One of my favorite dress shops! Petit monde's literal translation is "small world".

After leaving the boutique, I already bought three items. I kept browsing, picking out a lot of stuff. After that, I decided it's time for... adventure time! Kidding. It's pamper time.

I went into a salon and let the flamboyant beauticians do their thing. "Oh dear, I'll take care of you! You'll be even prettier. I hope I look like you! I envy your beauty, sis!" said one chatty gay guy.

I rolled my eyes. I let them choose the style that suits me because this salon has a reputation, so I trust them.

After a million years, they were finally finished. The flamboyant beautician behind me clapped his hands. "You look absolutely stunning, ma'am!"

I checked my reflection and wow. I must say, I'm really impressed. They dyed my black hair a light shade of brown and layered it. I really do look good. Tsk.

I paid and left. I had a massage, got a manicure, and a pedicure too. I felt like my stress level decreased a bit. I went home and headed straight to my room. I just piled my purchases to the side. I'm too lazy to fix them.

I was so tired. I collapsed on bed right after I turned on my air conditioner. But I still forced myself to get up and take a bath. A bubble bath would be really perfect right now.

I sank into the bath tub, and damn. The feeling was heavenly. I closed my eyes. This is relaxing. It never fails to soothe my nerves.

That night, I slept like a log. I was awakened by a series of knocks on my bedroom door. I opened my eyes. Who dares disturb my sleep?! "Cassidy! Wake up, dear. Someone's waiting for you downstairs."

My anger melted the moment I heard Manang Soling's tender voice. She's been like a mother to me ever since I was a kid. I groaned as I got up from bed. I hastily opened the door and Manang's smiling face greeted me.

"Good morning. You've been kept waiting downstairs for quite a while, dear." I stomped my feet like a child before heading to the bathroom to clean up. I changed into decent clothes before I descended down the stairs.

Who could be visiting me?! I walked towards the living room and saw my visitor. My visitors, rather. "Cassi!" She beamed. I facepalmed. She attacked me with a hug.

"Cyrelle, what are you doing here?" I raised my eyebrow and nodded towards Aldrin, her husband. Cy's four years older than me. She's been married for two years now and she just gave birth to her baby.

"Is that how you greet me, cous? Don't you miss your beautiful cousin?" I rolled my eyes. "I'm more beautiful than you."

She laughed and smirked. "Really, huh? You just changed your look and now you're prettier than me?! Baby, who's prettier, me or Cassidy?" She asked Aldrin. Ugh! This cousin of mine is nuts. Of course he'll choose her. She's his wife. Psh.

Aldrin smiled and went over to her. He put his arm around her waist and kissed her on the head. "You know that you'll always be the most beautiful girl in my eyes."

"See?" Cyrelle said to me with a teasing grin.

"That's not fair. Of course he'll choose you! This is totally unfair."

She crossed her arms. "Unfair? Just because you weren't chosen you call it unfair?" I saw Aldrin suppressing a smile out of the corner of my eye.

I held my arms up in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. Jeez. I'll come. I promise."
