"Mm, blue eyes, that's cute'' The man was scrutinizing her, looking at her like she was some kind of prey.
She glared at him as if he had killed multiple or even hundreds of men and wanted to sign him up for prison right there.
Under broad daylight, in the middle of a road where people and cars were passing by, it looked like time had paused.
"Where are you dying to go to?'', he asked, his gaze seem deadly than a sharp dagger focused on her bright blue eyes that seemed to have captured the sky in one wave.
As soon as their eyes met, Sophia felt nervous, she couldn't lie, he was good-looking and had an aura to his persona. He was tall had shiny dark hair looked rough yet organized purposely in a manner. He had a defined and masculine jawline. She was impressed by his looks. The way he looked at her as if she would melt within his gaze.
"My destination shouldn't concern you, tell your driver to keep his eyes on the road and stop interrogating people". Sophia replies to him without thought of insolent questioning.
"Do you know how I am?''
"No, and I don't need to know more of you''.
"Blue, you are quite an interesting person, till next time", he concluded and drove away.
Leaving Sophia aggravated and furious. No one had ever been so rude and made her feel like this before.
She turns back and heads to her car takes a few breaths and tucks away strands of her hair that had come out of place. Takes a second look at Mark who seemed to look puzzled about what or whom he had just seen.
He adjusts his glasses and his seat, and picks up the file with a puzzled look on his face, as if trying to recollect an image or event.
"Omg, I knew I knew that face from somewhere, that's our case, I mean target''.
"That's Alexander Royce, the young ruthless billionaire, how is this possible". Mark now petrified with fear and shock, thought about the scene he had just witnessed.
"Agent Smith, what should we do, he has seen you and it doesn't seem like you left a good impression of yourself'.
Sophia didn't even flinch at the news she had just heard, she didn't expect her first sight at her target would be on the road neither was she surprised by how he reacted. He was rich, even a billionaire at that.
"It's Sophia and he won't be the one that I'll be assigned to directly neither is he aware that am an agent''.
"That's right though''.
Mark sighs in relief and takes another look at the file, while Sophia drives off.
Dressed in navy blue pants and a tailored collar shirt, her composure was something unreal. She truly looked like a goddess who invoked not just power in her every stride but also grace and prestige, it would seem she was going for an executive position not just an intern to an assistant.
With the ID card hanging down her neck and files arranged in her hand, she took a couple of breaths, looked up to the heavens as if she had gone into a short prayer, and then quietly walked into the building.
A receptionist, eye glued on the screen of her laptop and phone glued to the side of her ear, saw how she entered; " Welcome and good morning miss, and how may I help you?''.
"I am here for the internship program, I applied for it last week and received an email to come for a post. 'Sophia locked eyes with the receptionist as she took notes of what she was saying through her computer.
"And are you with your documents and the printed ID card that was issued to you?''
"Yes''.
"There won't be any need for an interview it's not our system here, you have already been assigned to the executive assistant of the CEO.
"Okay then, where should I wait?'', Sophia asked already scanning her surroundings of the spacious walls that had a grey and a warm white comfort it gave the whole luxurious but empty feeling. No art painting or statues of any kind was put in place. The symbolic lines of the marble coffee table held only some files and cards. As she sat silently, a voice broke her chain of thoughts;
Nice to finally meet you, am the executive assistant, Yu Chen. But you can call me Nate, am sure she has put you through the process. You can follow me up now''.
She followed him closely as they headed to the elevator which brought them to his office, it was another grey but a neutral mix of black that exuded a sophisticated, it primed the room with a cool tone with each drape on the window, the sight of the city was indeed something to gape about, it made her think how it would look at night when the city was made alive.
"This is where you will be working from now, all files directed to me or the President should be either given to me to sign or kept by you. I expect an organized and excellent work, no slaggy behind and welcome''.
"Yes sir".
After his brief introduction, he gave out a warm smile and walked back into his office, she watched him quietly take his leave, another boss should have to answer to except the Chief and this time she would have to refer to him with some respect, she was already regretting this type of mission but it was too late to suddenly back out.
"This would be interesting''.
She was now in their system and had a small office beside the executive assistant, it was cosy and the only office she thought was painted all white for some reason, a mini workspace and already made files were assigned on her table. She took her seat and went through the wording of each file with care, she would only observe today and make connections to some workers.
After much work is done, she takes the files prepared to Yu Chen's office, he has ear pods on and has a smirk at the corner of his face as if he had just plotted a crime scene. He nodes for her to come inside and stared at her with one of his fingers up for her to pause;
"I will see you shortly, bye'', he hangs up and loses his ear free then looks back at her with a curious gaze.
"I'm here for your signature and these files are for the CEO, they needed his approval and signature to continue''. Sophia said unfazed, it sounded more like an order to him than a request.
"You catch up fast, I like that. A smart learner, my previous assistant only made sure to apply her makeup before she resolved company work, which she still fails".
''Thanks, sir''.
''Leave all these here and carry the files for the President, I have a meeting with him. Make sure to stand behind me, and don't utter a word or else you are told to''. Yu Chen told her sternly knowing the type of man they were going to be facing soon.
A soft knock breaks the silent echo of a room-like vault, it was well designed and elegant, and fragile glass works took the post of each corner giving the dark painting of the office a surreal cold vibe. A tall figure of a man stood near the door, he looked quite rogue yet composed, like an honourable soldier.
A slow smoke puffs out of the seat, leaving the atmosphere with a warm, sweet herbaceous scent, with a mild hint of whiskey and hay. Sophia wondered how the man at the door could take this scent for a while, it was like a perfume smell.
"Sir, I have made the calls and the files are here''.
The chair circles back into a better position for sight and there he was, his brown eyes were something so captivating, and his jawline flinched in response to what had just been said. He held his cigar in between his fingers as he smoked it out.
He looked up at his assistant and then got a glimpse of something he was familiar with.
"Isn't that, Blue?'', he said calmly, with his sharp eyes still on her.
