"I didn't plan to. Alexander annoyed me."
"What really happened?"
"That is a story for another day. I'll talk to you later." After the call ended, she stepped out of the elevator and gasped in shock as she didn't know that Sebastian was standing right there in front of her.
"How long have you been here?"
"Let's say, 12 minutes." He smiled, and watched as Bella rolled her eyes. "Come on, I want to take you out."
"I'm sorry I can't. Haven't I given you my reasons?" Bella said and began to walk right past him.
"Not even a hug?" Sebastian called out.
Reluctantly, she rolled her eyes and opened her arms for an embrace.
He gave her a warm hug that made her feel safe. She wanted this to last forever, she wanted him to last forever.
She craved him, but she couldn't have him. She wasn't ready to be thrust into the spotlight as all eyes were now on the Gentry family.
She could feel his warm breath on her neck, sending shivers down her spine.
"You can let me go now." She fought to say. If only Alexander's news wasn't all over town, she would be in Sebastian's arms all day.
"I can't let you go. Please don't make me."
Bella was dumbfounded. A year ago, Sebastian didn't know she existed, and all of a sudden he didn't want to let her go.
As much as she loved how she felt around him, she wished to be free from his embrace and, gracefully answering her prayers, her phone rang.
"Oh my God, Mum!" She yelled in astonishment. "Please tell me you are at home?" She broke free from his embrace and began to head out of the organization.
"No, I went for dinner with your father. I think he's closed quite a few deals to be able to spend dinner with me at Jean George's," Lily, her mother answered.
Bella didn't know what to say but not to break the news to her without her father's consent, "I believe so," she quickly said to avoid sounding suspicious.
"Stay safe, I'll be coming back late. Your father seemed to be in a good mood." The call ended.
Still smiling sheepishly, Sebastian walked up to her and asked, "Why are you smiling so... so... widely?"
She quickly turned only to discover he was too close to her.
"Nothing," she spoke softly. He was tall and handsome, but not like his brother. His brother was gorgeous.
"Great, what about that dinner? Can we have it today? My place can be great, away from the eyes of the masses."
Bella took in a deep breath; her father had taken her mum for dinner. Olivia would probably be at home with Nicholas or with a boy. Would it be bad if she went with Sebastian?
"Emm... I don't..."
Before she could finish her statement or make her decision, Sebastian, with a magnetic force pulling him closer to Bella, couldn't contain his emotions any longer.
As if guided by fate itself, he leaned in, his lips softly touching hers. It was a kiss that spoke volumes, a silent confession of the feelings that had grown between them.
In that fleeting moment, time seemed to stand still. The world around them faded into obscurity, and it was just Sebastian and Bella, lost in the intensity of a new connection.
The kiss was a testament to the power of unspoken words, a promise of what could be.
And as they pulled away, their eyes locked in a gaze that needed no explanation. They were so lost in the moment that they didn't notice when Alexander walked past them and headed to his office.
"What were you saying, Bella?" He exhaled.
"Dinner at your place would be fine."
And they both entered their vehicles and began heading to his place.
Meanwhile, as Alex had watched the hot moment between Sebastian and Bella, he didn't actually care. It only brought back painful memories of him and Bailey.
He wasn't able to accept the fact that Bailey had decided to move on, leaving him in his own mess.
One of the reasons he agreed to marry Bailey was because of the pressure from his family, the fact that he should be married to get certain entitlements. But now, all of it had just crashed.
He was going to be single for the rest of his entire life, unless his father had something to say about the current situation.
As he entered the elevator, heading to his office to pick up certain documents he would need for the announcement of the project they were all working on, his phone vibrated.
He checked it to see a link to a video that was sent to him by Jonathan, and in that video was Julius Covada, his former most experienced marketing agent whom he had fired on his first day of work promoting a business.
He listened closely, only to notice that Julius was announcing that there was a project Prime Tech was about to release.
"Fuck, no! Not Prime Tech," Alexander cursed under his breath. This wasn't another heat he was willing to take in.
To worsen the situation, Diana Ross, his former secretary, was no longer around to support him and fill him in on how he was to approach investors and other businessmen to make his speech, having worked for his father for years.
While stressed in his dilemma, Sebastian and Bella stepped out of the cozy New York City restaurant and into the brisk night air. She later changed her mind; they were both in the mood for a restaurant.
The city's streets still hummed with life, even as the hour grew late.
They meandered through the illuminated cityscape, passing by iconic landmarks like Times Square, where the neon billboards lit up the night like a vivid dreamscape. The bustling crowds had thinned, allowing them to walk hand in hand along the city sidewalks.
Yellow taxis glided past, their headlights casting streaks of golden light across the asphalt. The distant echoes of laughter and conversation from nearby bars and cafes filled the air, a testament to the city's enduring nightlife.
As they made their way toward Bella's apartment, the towering skyscrapers seemed to reach for the heavens, their silhouettes outlined by the soft glow of city lights.
"Thank you for this," Bella appreciated.
"It's nothing, it's only a dinner after all. But I'm glad you enjoyed yourself."
"See you tomorrow, thanks again for walking me home." A gentle flush spread across her porcelain skin.
He bowed like a gentleman, blew her a kiss, and skipped off.
