Chapter 4 Parasite

I wipe away at the tears running down my eyes uncontrollably. I feel exhausted, desperately needing rest, or at least food. I'm locked up in my room, dreading my parents arriving home from work. My mother works in a bakery as the head baker and my father works for Alpha Aspen. He worked in the financial division of pack management. We were an Omega family so there was a limit of things we could do, and my parents had gone straight into their occupations after high school.

My father had been able to take some classes at the local human college just so he knew what to do, but he had been extremely discrete while doing so because our existence as werewolves was a secret from humans. I asked him once why he did not do an entire degree because Omegas could do that now, he just said that he never wanted to spend more time with humans than he absolutely wanted to.

"If we let humans find out anything about us, the Tribunal is going to throw us in jail. Going out even once is risky, why do more than you ought to just because?" was the answer I received when I asked.

My parents were strict, I will not lie. They brought me up to adhere to all the Omega principles, and they wanted me to be the ideal Omega daughter. Had they known the relationship I had with the future Alpha of the pack I'm pretty sure they'd have beaten me black and blue before taking me to Alpha Lincon Aspen to beg for forgiveness. It would not have mattered that David was the one to approach me, in their eyes, I would have been the one who did wrong.

It's not that they didn't love me as parents. In their own way, they did. But they were strict, and I am their only child. So, they were bound to be very protective of me and make sure that I was not the kind of woman who would one day be knocked up by the Alpha's son and left behind to bear my own burden.

Dear Goddess, how am I supposed to tell them what happened to me? They are going to be so livid. They are also going to be heartbroken.

I can't even begin to touch upon the subject of David. I feel heartbroken at all his implications and outright accusations. I had always been faithful to him, but he did not think so. For the most part, I think he's scared himself because of his being an Alpha and my being an Omega. Maybe all he needs is more time to come to terms with the bomb I'd dropped on him, and he would come around and actually support me. Inter-designation affairs were heavily stigmatized but not illegal, so I had some hope.

He could not have meant what he said about using me for sex. He treated me far too nicely during our relationship to discard me like a toy. Surely those actions were genuine, right? Surely the way he told me he loved me was real.

He just needed more time, that's it.

Suddenly, a knock comes on my door, and I scramble to my feet from where I'm sitting at the dinner table. I try not to run to the door even though I want to because of the baby, and while things aren't so great, I still feel an indescribable amount of love for the baby that is growing in me. No matter what happens I'm going to give birth to my darling and raise them with love. Even if David decides that he wants nothing to do with the baby, I will take care of them and give them all the love and security in the world.

I open the door and am taken aback to see none other than David standing there.

"David!" I cry out, wondering if he had finally come around sooner than I expected him to.

But David frowns when he sees me. "Oh, you haven't changed. Get ready, we need to go."

"David, what's going on? Get ready for what? Go where?" I ask him, confused.

"I've booked us an appointment. We need to do something about what's growing in your body." He snaps, and I feel fear rushing through my body.

"W-what? What are you talking about?" I stutter, stepping back from the door as if from instinct alone. Something is not right.

"Did I stutter?" he snarls, "you're coming with me so we can take care of this...parasite."

"It's not a parasite, it's a baby!"

"For fuck's sake, how dense can you be?" David asks me, "I know it's a fucking baby, and it's a baby who needs to go!"

It's like the ground had exploded beneath me, "what?!"

"We're going to a witch who can take the baby out of you."

"No!" I scream out, grabbing the doorway to support myself. Of all the things I expected of him to come up with, this was the last on the list, even if it made the list. I did not expect him to come here, swearing and looking like he could murder someone any moment now, demanding that I come with him to...kill my baby? "I won't do that. How can you even ask me that? You want me to have an abortion?"

David rolls his eyes, "no, of course not. This witch can take babies out and grow them until they're old enough to be born. She'll then put it into adoption, and we can go on with our lives as we want."

"That's even worse, David. You want me to give up my child. I don't want to give up my child!"

"Well, I don't want you to have my child. You'll be throwing your whole life away over this, Arielle, be a bit realistic for once. You can have a kid with another Omega later." David argues, but I'm already shaking my head and backing away from him.

"No, no, no, you're insane! I won't be giving up my baby, I won't!"

With that, I slam the door in his face before he can react, I rush upstairs to my bedroom where I can burst into tears in peace.
