Chapter 2 TWO

Nicholas pov

Nicholas, with his mesmerizing blue eyes, stood in the dimly lit room of his underground operation. He was surrounded by his bodyguard and his best friend, whom he called his brother because he was so loyal and faithful to him. They grew up together.

preparing to execute a spy who was dissing on him to his enemy. His mind was focused, his heart cold, and his hands steady as he prepared to carry out the ruthless act.

The man who had betrayed the organization was jeopardizing its secrecy and putting the Nicholas Mafia organization at risk.

The punishment for such a betrayal was death, and Nicholas was not one to forgive betrayal easily.

In the depths of the night, the room echoed with a muffled sound of pain as the man being tortured pleaded for mercy. But mercy was not for Nicholas; Nicholas was one to deliver justice, and he proceeded with the task at hand.

The air was heavy with tension as he tortured the traitor for information before delivering the final blow. The victim was tortured beyond recognition; he was almost lifeless, but he was still struggling to breathe. His scream filled the underground tunnel, pleading for mercy.

Unknown to Nicholas, Rose had followed him, driven by curiosity and an inexplicable connection she felt towards him.

Hidden in the shadow, she watched in horror as the man on the chair suffered at the hands of the cold-blooded mafia leader.

Her heart pounded in her chest, torn between her fear and the need to understand the man she had come to care for.

But she couldn't understand all the emotion she was feeling for him.

As the room felt silent and Nicholas prepared to end the life of the traitor, he suddenly felt a prickling sensation on the back of his neck, as if he were being watched.

His instincts went on high alert, and he turned to survey the room.

There, in the dark corner, stood Rose, her eyes wide with shock and terror. A chilling smile spread across Nicholas face as he walked towards her, his footstep echoing in the eerie silence.

"Well, well, well.

It seems we have an unexpected guest, he said, his voice sending a shiver down her spine. I didn't mean to intrude. Rose stammered, trying to steady her trembling voice.

I was just... I wanted to understand.

Understand? Nicholas tone was mocking.

Do you think you can understand me? You have no idea what kind of man I am.

Rose swallowed hard, but her determination didn't waver.

I know there's more to you than what you show the world.

I've seen it in your eyes, in the moments when you let your guard down.

Nicholas eye narrowed, a mix of frustration and fascination flickering within his eye.

He didn't understand why he was even entertaining her presence, but something about her unwavering belief in him stirred something he thought was long dead.

You should have stayed away, he warned, closing the distance between them until they were mere inches apart.

Now, I can't let you leave. You know too much. Rose felt a surge of fear, but she refused to back down.

You won't hurt me. I see conflict within you between the man you are and the man you wish you could be. You can change.

Nicholas jaw clenched as he grappled with his conflicting emotions.

His life had been built on bloodshed and power, and the idea of change seemed like an impossible fantasy.

But Rose's unwavering faith in him planted a seed of doubt in his mind.

Enough. He growled, torn between wanting to protect her and wanting to push her away.

You are coming with me, and you will see firsthand what happens to those who meddle in my affairs.

With a firm grip, Nicholas led Rose into the shadows of his dangerous world, where she would be exposed to the darkest aspects of his life.

He couldn't shake the feeling that her presence would either be his redemption or his downfall.

He was contemplating what to do with her. He decided to keep her in one of the rooms underground and told one of his guards to keep close monitoring of her. Rose was scared to death, but she still has this small belief that he won't hurt her, or even if he did hurt her, he won't hurt her so badly in a way that she can't bear.

But she was still finding a way to escape. She saw the guard at the corner of her room, and she was then helpless that she wouldn't be able to escape except for Nicholas releasing her.

She thought back to her mother and brother, who would be worried sick about her if she did not come home on time.

Nicholas went to the traitor frustrated about what had just happened; he couldn't think properly, and his heart was racing and filled with tension. He was to release this tension either by giving the traitor a more painful death than he intended or by taking shots of alcohol, but he chose the former because he likes to have full control of himself and know what's going on around him.

His friend Angelo asked him what had just happened. He tried to dismiss him, but Angelo being Angelo, he wouldn't bug him. He kept pestering him. Angelo won as usual. Nicholas explained to him how he encountered her in a dark alley and how she told him she saw him in her dream. He explained without leaving anything behind.

Angelo busted out laughing, trying to piss Nicholas off. He dismissed Angelo, brought his gun from his pants, and finally gave in, shooting the traitor on the head without remorse or pity. Afterward, he left his room and decided to take a shower to calm his nerve. After showering, he went to the balcony of the room to light cigarettes, thinking about what to do to the girl who just seemed to be bugging him.

On deciding what to do, he threw the ashes of the cigarette on the ashes.
