Chapter 2 2

Alyssa's POV:

"What am I doing? Acting like a sex-starved stranger in front of a stranger?" There was a hint of danger when he said he'd kill me. In a different circumstance, I might have willingly complied with his demand. I'm not submissive, but this man's extraordinary charm and power were something an ordinary woman like me couldn't resist. I gathered all my willpower just to suppress the earthly desires he stirred deep within me, especially between my thighs. I was here for a mission. I must not forget that.

The hardships I endured just to get to this place were no joke. I was looking for a man, an underground black market surgeon. He's the best in the world, but also by far the most dangerous, elusive, and expensive doctor. I spent months studying the world he operated in. I've even negotiated with some high-ranking syndicate leaders just to gather concrete information and gain entry into his world. This wasn't the right time to stray from my path.

I saw the masked man leaving the private lounge. I know what he did. He killed someone inside that small room. I've heard that the fierce wolf only emerges from his den when he's about to kill. Only those who are about to die have the privilege of knowing his real identity behind the mask. It's him! Definitely.

"Dr. Wolf..." I whispered. The man who still had me wrapped around his finger tightened his grip. I forced myself to look into his eyes, and I regretted it instantly. His eyes were a mesmerizing shade of blue-green, utterly captivating like an unbreakable spell. Even though I was drunk, I knew his face was the most perfect one I'd ever seen in my entire life. I wanted to see his face again, to feel the warmth of his embrace and the strength of his entire body against mine, but in a different situation and a different place.

"SSSssshh. This place is full of cold-blooded criminals. The Masked Wolf himself is here. Don't do anything that could draw their attention," I found myself confessing to the godly stranger. I didn't want him to get involved in any potential crimes inside this bar. Suddenly, I felt the need to protect him.

"Who are you...?" the man whispered.

"You don't need to know my name..."

"Oh honey, I need to..." His grip suddenly tightened. "You said this place is full of criminals, what makes you think I'm not one of them?"

The color of his captivating eyes darkened. They were much more green than blue now. I knew he just wanted to know my name. I was sure he wasn't a member of the syndicate. After months of studying the underground world in this part of America, I recognized almost all the prominent faces in the syndicate. "If you weren't this handsome, I might have believed you were a criminal." I was certain he didn't understand me. "There's no way a face as angelic as this can be the devil..." For the last time, I let my fingers glide over the stranger's cheek. It felt like heaven.

"A devil can wear an angel's clothing too..." he said, staring at me intently. "Besides, he used to be an angel and God's favorite..."

I grinned meaningfully at him. "Kill me. If you're the devil, kill me now. Blame me, I don't mind going to hell if you're the devil?" I reached for his mouth. It was slightly open and moist, he tasted really good and addicting. I need to walk away from him, before my plans for tonight get even more messed up.

When I released his lips, I noticed the arrival of some uniformed police officers at the bar. They must have caught wind of the crime that happened and rushed in. Chaos ensued all around. My dancing partner also forgot about me when his companions called for him. As he let go of me, that was the moment I had been waiting for. I quickly disappeared amidst the crowd that was still gathered on the dance floor.

I need to fulfill my mission. I need to talk to Dr. Wolf. I expected him to head to this part of the dock where the large ships were docked, hoping to evade the police he anticipated would come. But I couldn't see any of his henchmen around. It didn't take long for the police to arrive.

What is this! That's why the cunning doctor changed his plans. He won't just let himself be caught like that. He outsmarted the law enforcers again. I hid behind the large barrels in that area. I couldn't afford to be seen by the police, or I might get caught up in the investigation. I had to climb up a tall truck to hide up high. My clothes were a waste, and they were expensive. They tore because of my rushed running and hiding. I still haven't had a chance to talk to Dr. Wolf! I felt frustrated, because if the police hadn't intervened, that doctor-mafia leader would not have changed his plans! Now, I'm back to square one.

I'll just have to wait for the Masked Wolf of the underground world to show up again.

Suddenly, my cellphone, which was attached to my thigh, vibrated.

"Alyssa, have you talked to him?" the voice on the other end said.

I clenched my teeth.

"Give me a few more days, please..."

"You're running out of time."

Damn. I know.

Jandrix's POV:

"Did you find her?" I immediately asked my men as one of them returned and sat in front of the car I was hiding in.

"I'm sorry, Boss. We followed her. She's a little concerning though; she knew the original escape route of the Masked Wolf. She even went there looking for you... and then she's gone. Even the police didn't see her. We had to go back; we cannot stay longer than necessary or we might compromise ourselves with the police."

I clenched my fists in frustration. Just one woman, just one woman managed to slip away from my sight and from the sight of my men? Irritated, I punched the side of the car.

"We'll find her!" one of my men assured, noticing my sudden flare of temper. Tch. That woman seems to know a lot about the Masked Wolf. It seems she's also hiding many secrets.

"That woman, I think she's secretly following me and keeping tabs on my whereabouts. You know I can't sleep with the thought of somebody trying to invade my privacy. So, you know what to do. Bring her to me alive if you can, but if she resists, get rid of her," I ordered my men calmly yet firmly. I had great trust in them. I knew they would bring that woman back to me. She knew about the existence of Dr. Wolf. She even knew he's the famous Masked Wolf, the leader of the biggest syndicate organization in the whole United States. I smirked, amused that she had been in my presence and didn't recognize me. Well, not one of my associates in this dirty world recognizes me. When I entered the deadly and dangerous world of underground crimes, I made sure to protect my identity as my most guarded secret.

I went by the name of Masked Wolf. My identity was unknown and untraceable. With the extent of the group I controlled and the number of men I had, aside from my personal bodyguards, only four people directly reported to me.

I called them Phantoms. Jan, Alec, Lee, and Ares. They were the core commanders of my entire syndicate. Their identities were elusive and ever-changing. All four of them could wear a mask and present themselves as Masked Wolf on any occasion. I was the big boss, the mastermind behind all the crimes. My Phantoms were my executors. They were also my frontline.

So, it wouldn't surprise me if Ares, one of my Phantoms, was known to that suspicious woman as Dr. Wolf. Whatever she needed from me, whatever her connection to the police who arrived at the crime scene, I needed to find out. I needed to see her again.

I dialed Jan's phone number. "I need you to organize a big black market auction in Dark Casino as soon as possible. Announce that I will personally host the event," I said while tapping my fingers on the side of the car's window. A meaningful grin played on my lips. If that woman is after me, I don't need to find her. She'll show herself voluntarily.
