Chapter 5 Attack on Larson Mansion

They left the office, and Natan approached Alex, worried that Elizabeth had revealed something.

"Mr. Larson, is everything alright?" He asked discreetly.

"You're a useless pig, Natan. How can you treat Elizabeth so poorly? You'll lose your life over this."

Natan looked at Elizabeth, now sure that Alex knew everything.

"Alex, I can explain..." Natan said, and they heard two gunshots.

"Another time..."

Alex approached the couch where his wife was, Anne took Noah's hand, and they went to the office.

"Jhonatan, take your mother, Elizabeth, and the boys to the office. We'll handle this here!"

Elizabeth reached out to Adam, and they followed Jhonatan's mother and Noah to the office. Jhonatan locked himself in there with them.

"Jhonatan..." She said, taking a step back, unsure if she could talk to him at this moment.

"Elizabeth, they'll take care of everything outside, and no one will get past me here. It will be alright."

She sat down and hugged her brother, while Noah and his mother did the same. Many gunshots were heard for several minutes; the war outside was intense.

Jhonatan sometimes glanced at Elizabeth, who was scared, holding onto Adam and closing her eyes with each shot.

Meanwhile, armed men had entered the luxurious Larson mansion. They used the turned-over couch and table as a barrier and exchanged gunfire with the invaders. They didn't notice that one of them had entered from the back; the man sneaked up until he was very close to them. Natan saw him and shot before the man could shoot Marvin Larson next to him. After a few minutes of exchanging gunfire, the men in front of them were dead. Alex stood up, and one last shot was heard; the man who had entered from the back was not dead; he managed to hit Alex in the chest. Natan shot the man, killing him.

Jhonatan, in the office, paid attention to the sounds; when everything seemed calm, he decided to go out.

"I'll see how things are outside."

"Jhonatan... Be careful." Elizabeth said.

He went out and returned shortly after. Jhonatan took his mother's hand.

"Come, Mom, you need to say goodbye..."

"Jhonatan... No!" Anne ran outside with Noah behind her.

Elizabeth went out with Adam and found Alex lying there with his wife and young son by his side.

"Alex, dear... We'll take care of you."

"There's no more time; I just want to say that I was very happy with you, Anne. Jhonatan..." Alex called him, closing his eyes.

"Take care of Elizabeth, and under no circumstances in this world give up on this marriage; she..."

Alex started speaking softer and softer until he was gone.

Jhonatan hugged his father's body, the person who was his hero and his role model had passed away.

"Mrs. Larson, we'll take Noah out of here..." Elizabeth said to Anne.

She led the boy and his mother to the stairs, going upstairs with them to help Anne rest.

In the living room, Jhonatan cried in his uncle's arms; he had lost the most important person in his life.

"Jhonatan, just go lie down for a while; your grandfather and I will take care of everything."

"Mr. Larson, I don't want to disturb; I'll take Elizabeth and Adam home, then I'll come back to help." Natan said.

"I won't go!" Elizabeth said, coming down the stairs. "I'll stay here with Jhonatan; they need someone here."

"I agree! The girl stays to take care of my daughter-in-law." Marvin said.

"Elizabeth, you'll be uncomfortable in this dress; I'll bring you something to wear tomorrow..." Natan said, already furious.

"You said you'd come back, bring something suitable for me to wear. I'm asking you, Father."

Natan accepted, defeated; he couldn't drag her away as he would have liked.

"Alright, when I return, I'll bring something for you."

Elizabeth smiled and called Adam, whispering something in his ear, and then she went upstairs.

She went to Noah's room; he was crying inconsolably over the loss of his father.

"Sweetie, you need to lie down and get some sleep; it's late." She said to the boy.

"I don't want to sleep; I want my dad!" Noah said, hugging her. Elizabeth laid him down on her lap and ran her fingers through his hair, letting him cry in her lap.

Jhonatan passed by the door and liked what he saw; his future wife might be a deviant woman, but she was also caring for his family.

"Do you know about my mother?" He asked.

"She's already asleep, but Noah insists on staying awake, even though he's tired."

"Well, I think tiredness has finally won..."

Elizabeth looked at the boy, and he was asleep; she laid him in bed and covered him.

She went downstairs, and the living room was already cleaned up, even Alex Larson's body had been taken away.

"Jhonatan, I've taken care of everything already; the funeral will be tomorrow, and your grandfather is informing the other members of the organization." James said." Liz, are you going home?"

"No, Uncle, I'll stay; my father should be coming with different clothes for me."

"Alright, I won't leave now either; if anything comes up, I'll take you..."

Dave came back and handed Elizabeth the clothes; he called her before leaving again.

"Elizabeth, you're staying tonight, but be careful with what you say; you know our father doesn't forgive easily, and he's already angry with you."

Elizabeth didn't respond; she just went upstairs and changed in Anne's room. She came down wearing a sweatshirt; she mentally cursed her father for choosing clothes that she normally wore to sleep, but she understood the intention was to cover her up as much as possible.

Elizabeth spent a few minutes in Anne's room and then went downstairs; it was almost morning. She decided to make something for when the family woke up.

She was just finishing making fresh coffee when Jhonatan came downstairs. She looked at him and smiled, placing the coffee in a mug.

"Sugar?" She asked.

"No, just black..."

He took the mug and started drinking; she was organizing the dishes, and he leaned against the sink, watching her.

"Do you know I have a maid, right?"

"I didn't know..."

"Where did you sleep?" Jhonatan asked.

"I didn't sleep; I thought about resting somewhere, but it was almost dawn, so I thought it was better to prepare something for when you all woke up."

"I appreciate it." Jhonatan left the mug in the sink and went upstairs.

Elizabeth passed by Anne's room; she was taking a tray to her. Anne was already awake and sitting on the bed.

"My dear, you didn't have to do this."

"You have to eat..."

"You'll make a great wife; do you know about my husband's funeral?"

"No, but I can ask Jhonatan."

"He seems difficult, but he's not. My son only demands loyalty; if you're like that, you'll easily win him over."

"I don't know; he already seems not to like me."

"Well, I think he likes you; Alex was difficult when we got married, but he changed his life for me. Let me give you some advice: if he's pleasant, win him over and be happy. Don't accept abuse! I know you won't go through that; I raised Jhonatan well."

Elizabeth smiled; she would follow her mother-in-law's advice. If Jhonatan didn't hurt or try to abuse her, she would let him into her heart and do everything to be in his heart.

Elizabeth left and was about to go downstairs; Jhonatan was in his room. Elizabeth saw him and knocked on the door, which was already open.

"Can I come in?" She asked from the door.

"Come in..."

Elizabeth entered and sat on the bed next to him. Jhonatan had a photo of himself and his father in his hands.

"Your father helped me in a very difficult moment in my life..."

"Really? When?"

"When I was 9 years old, I had a domestic accident, and I burned part of my leg. Your father went to the hospital, helped take care of me, and I met him that day."

Jhonatan smiled and lifted Elizabeth's chin, giving her a gentle kiss on her lips. Jhonatan thought that besides being beautiful, his future wife had a good heart and could get used to that.

Jhonatan deepened the kiss and put his arm around her waist, pulling her gently, but even so, Elizabeth complained of pain.

"Jhonatan, it's better if I go downstairs..."

"Wait! Take off your shirt..."

"Don't you think it's a bit early for this intimacy?" Elizabeth joked.

"I want to see your back; I know it's injured."

Elizabeth feared; she would no longer have Alex's protection, and she didn't know if she could trust Jhonatan.

"Jhonatan, forget about this; I'll go downstairs..." Elizabeth got up, and Jhonatan grabbed her arm.

"I'll see what they did to you, and you'll tell me how it happened."

Jhonatan pulled Elizabeth's sweater; she was wearing a white T-shirt underneath. The shirt lifted a bit when Jhonatan pulled the sweater, and she quickly lowered it, but Jhonatan could see what looked like a bruise on Elizabeth's ribcage.

"Elizabeth, you're very hurt; take off your shirt." It wasn't a question; Jhonatan realized that Elizabeth would have injuries all over her body.

He pulled her towards him and pushed her onto the bed, thinking that if she were pinned under him, it would be easier to lift her shirt.

"Jhonatan, please don't!"

She held the shirt with one hand and tried to push him away with the other. Anne came out of the room behind her sons; she reached Jhonatan's room and stopped at the door.

"Jhonatan, don't do this, let her go! I beg you..." Elizabeth said as Anne entered.

"Jhonatan Larson! Let go of Elizabeth." Anne yelled from the door.

He stood up, and Elizabeth passed through the door, crying.

"Mom, it's not what you're thinking."

"I never raised an abuser! She'll be yours in due time..."

"Mom! I would never be capable of that."

"I'll ask your uncle to take her away from here; your father would be disappointed in you right now."

Jhonatan was furious at the misunderstanding; Elizabeth had made him look like the kind of man he always hated.
