Chapter 3 The Change

I had to run to the forest to cry because I had missed the graduation ceremony. The anguish exceeded my worst expectations, and it got worse as each second passed.

My body soon began to crack, causing flames to burn all over me. The sound of my bones breaking could be heard as I shouted out for no one to hear. The change started slowly and with screams and tears.

Later, I found myself gazing at the lake as I was. I turned my head side to side while looking into my wolf's deep-brown eyes. I allowed my wolf to crack a little smile. She had lovely brown fur that glistened in many tones. The left ear was distinctively white, while the right one was still dark.

After almost three months, the pain had become really severe. I never anticipated how hurtful rejection would feel. Initially, my wolf had shunned me; Remus and Louve had joined the Golden Moon pack without being aware of my predicament; and I had held back telling Daciana because she had only recently found her mate.

Unfortunately, loneliness and unrelenting pain were constantly present. My heart felt as though someone had just snatched a knife and slashed straight through it, severing it.

Words cannot express the agony I felt at seeing him.

So I can't help but think of what to do as I wither in my sorrow and sleep in the night. I did not currently have a job, a partner, any local family, or any pals. This kit contained everything and nothing for me.

The home, a sizable house, was inactive and overlooking the meadows and forest behind the pack house on a little hill. This house held memories of the first time I threw a fit and covered my walls with a black biro pen. We put off removing it since we had never been able to get it out. Even my sister's bedroom was unharmed. She still had the dark purple and grey colors on her walls from when she was younger, and there were band posters all over the place. The color of my brother's room was a sleek grey. His bedroom was spare.

I continued to curl up under my covers when I heard my phone ring. I raised it up to my face while squinting at the bright light. I examined the caller ID. There was just Remus. I answered.

"Hey." My voice was plain and less cheery than it ought to have been. Remus had seen it during these few weeks and occasionally questioned it. The question "What's up?" I made an effort to cheer up, but I was failing.

"Hey. Just wondering if you'd like to drop by our apartment this weekend. Here, it's family week, so I just wanted to see. His tone was almost beseeching. I sighed and let my fingers run through my hair.

"Maybe." I informed him. "Recently, I haven't been feeling well." It was a partial truth. When my partner rejected me, a pit formed in my stomach, which forced me to inevitably hurl.

"If you can't, that's fine." He had a calm voice. "I invited Lyall to join us, too." He created by him. My brows furrowed.

"Seriously?" I enquired with skepticism. I'd always make an effort to stay in touch even in the absence of replies. "I sent her an email a couple of weeks ago and no response."

"Oh? We've been communicating via email a lot lately. She is quite content, friend and all. Remus eagerly told me.

It caused me to cry. Lyall was content with her partner, while I was stranded here moaning about mine. I had to act, and I had to act now.

For the longest period, I had a question in my head:

Should I abide by his refusal?

I was unwilling to let it go. I had been expecting him to apologize for months, but it never happened. His bond with Rieka had grown considerably. She is pregnant, and they were engaged. I have no idea what to do.

Accepting it might ease the suffering, but I'd give up all hope of living a flawless life in the process.

Are you still present? Remus questioned, and even though he couldn't see me, I nodded.

Oh, I'm sorry, I was just thinking. I confessed.

Do you think? I laughed as he gasped.

"Hilarious."

"I know."

Anyway, I'll tell you what. I'll travel. I told Remus, and in the distance, Louve's girlish scream could be heard.

If not, Louve would have come and picked you up. I grinned wryly. as though Remus would consent.

"Whatever. I will pick you up this weekend; see you then. He complained when I told him.

"You have a car, use it." He exploded.

"I don't, no. Our car was taken away by you. I grinned wryly.

"Right..." He spoke inaudibly. He inquired, "So Saturday eleven?"

I responded, "Sounds good."

I hung up the phone with him after letting a hand pass past my face and sighing. It should be enjoyable.
