She also avoided any form of eye contact with me. I also noticed a scar on her swollen cheek, so I decided to ask her instead of driving myself crazy by trying to figure it out myself.
I stood up from my bed and left my room.
I walked down the stairs, hoping to find Chloe. I walked around the house and I swear, I never knew the house was this big until today. I walked around for what seemed like a hour and I finally found Chloe and as usual, she was trying to avoid me.
I quickly thought of something that would make her talk to me without me having to really force her.
And trust me, it was really stupid.
I collapsed on the floor with my eyes closed hoping that she'd fall for my stupid trick. Boy, did it work! After some minutes, she started to panic. She ran to me and knelt by my side. She buried her face in her hands, sobbing. Must have scared the shit out of her.
Bless my great acting skills. I should be an actress in my next life, it would be a nice compensation for the shitty life I was living at the moment.
I used that opportunity to grab her hand. I tightened my hold on her hand and stood up. She looked shocked, confused and angry. So much for not forcing her, Brittany.
I definitely took it too far.
"You tricked me you-" She said, raising her other hand to hit me.
Well, that aggression was so unnecessary.
I dodged it and dragged her by the hand to the back of the house.
"Leave me!" She said in an attempt to wriggle hand free from my hold. Not until I pinned her against the wall with my other hand.
I let go of her hand, tightening my hold on her shoulders, forcing her to look at me.
This was a bit forceful, but I had to do this if I wanted the conversation to be a success and not just a waste of my time.
"Why have you been avoiding me?" I asked looking into her brown eyes.
She didn't reply, she just continued to stare.
"Answer me Chloe, what's wrong? Did Cole do anything to you? Did he tell you anything?" I asked with sincere emotions laced in my voice.
She closed her eyes and let a tear drop fall from her eyes, choking in a sob.
Well, I definitely didn't expect that reaction.
"Don't call him Cole. He's Master Cole. You must respect that title. She said sternly, still sobbing.
I rolled my eyes at her. I was not one to follow stupid rules. What difference would the title make anyway?
"He did something to you, right?" I asked, determined to know the reason behind Chloe's avoidance.
After cajoling her, she finally told me but not without making me to promise her not to ever tell anyone. She was not satisfied with my promise so she made me swear on my life but I'm not so stupid. I kept my fingers crossed at my back. You know, I had this childish belief that I could tell lies as long as I had my fingers crossed while telling the lie.
We talked for sometime and then went our separate ways not without Chloe reminding me not to break my promise repeatedly and she also kept apologizing.
She was so vulnerable. Was this what was going to happen to me too after living here for a few months?
**
I went back to my room and started analyzing the new information I had just gathered. Everything started making little sense to me.
Though I did not know how dangerous Cole was because Chloe hadn't really told me about pureblood vampires, I had still gathered the fact that purebloods were dangerous because of Chloe's experience with Cole some nights before. It was brutal. And it changed my view of Cole so much.
This was what made her to start avoiding me and honestly, this justifies her avoiding. If I was in her shoes, I'd never speak to me again...
Somehow, Cole found out about what Chloe told me about him being a vampire and also a pureblood. This made him really upset, which was weird. It wasn't worth him being upset over.
He whipped her and harassed her sexually. She left his room with torn clothes and a swollen face.
I have no idea why he'd do that to her. I mean, who does that?!
I felt really sorry for Chloe.
I swear, I'd have done worse than than that if I was in the same situation.
I'd have probably committed suicide.
Haha, just kidding. My life was worth more than that.
Or maybe I was just trying to gaslight myself into thinking it was.
But she did not seem to mind the sexual harassment. She told me she had faced worse than that in the hands of her Master. But that didn't make it right. These creatures were lawless and ruthless. They treated humans like mere objects and mistreated them in the worst way possible. The fact that I could not do anything to change this angered me.
She didn't want me to see her like that so she started avoiding me.
He threatened to kill her if he ever caught her telling me anything that was supposed to be kept secret in that house. Honestly, I was kind of hurt. I hated the fact that someone that I was probably going to live with forever didn't trust me but- I didn't need him to trust anyway.
I was so deep in my own thoughts that I didn't realize that someone had been knocking on my door. When I finally jolted back to reality, I quickly stood up and opened the door.
Two heavily built men stood there looking upset probably because I made them wait long before opening the door.
"Hi, what do you want?" I asked in an attempt to break the uncomfortable silence.
They ignored me and started packing my things. They threw my new clothes... Well, just my red dress and a few other clothes in a small suitcase.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Taking your things to the Prince's room, "One of the men answered.
WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL?!
There was no was going to move into his room. I definitely won't last a night in Cole's room.
I was so done for. Let's just hope I'd be given a nice burial.
Sigh, I could only wish.
After taking the necessary things out, one of the men turned to face me.
He was good looking and had this dark aura radiating from him. Just like a typical vampire... At least that was what the books and movies told me.
"Where's your collar and why did you take it off?"
A collar?
"I don't have a collar". I stated.
He looked surprised for a second.
What was so surprising? The fact that I did not have a collar? Well, Chloe did say wearing a collar was important but I wasn't given one.
"Okay, you'll be given one soon. Let's go". He said.
He gripped my upper arm and practically dragged me all the way to Cole's room.
**
As we got closer to Cole's room, my heart seemed to race to the highest mountain and back.
I started counting the number of minutes left- One, two, three, four...
We got to the front of Cole's door. By then, I was already trembling.
"Wait!" I said, holding the man's muscular arm.
Why the hell was I scared?
"What?" He said, glaring at me.
I swallowed hard and shook my head, allowing him to knock.
A familiar voice said something from the other side of the room that I didn't really understand because of my state of fear. All I could grasp was that the man opened the door and dragged me inside.
The room was dark, not a single source of light apart from the one coming from the hallway that disappeared when the door was closed behind us.
The room was well lit the last time I checked. Something must have happened or maybe something is gonna happen.
WHAT IF HE WANTED TO SUCK MY BLOOD DRY?!?
Chloe said that she was happy that he didn't suck her blood dry, what if he wanted to suck mine dry?!?
I'm his 'pet' you know.
I swallowed hard.
I froze when he told the man to leave.
Oh no! Please don't leave me with him. He'll kill me. I looked at the man with pleading eyes, hoping he'd see me. He actually saw me but he only glared at me. So vampires had a very keen sight, just like I watched in the movies.
I'll be alone with Cole now. He probably wanted me dead by now.
I'll have to go through the same painful experience that Chloe had with him.
I'll be sexually harassed, he'll whip me, he'll suck my blood- what else?
Say your last prayers, Brittany.
