Chapter 5 Rock inscription

"Behind you, Darelia!" The voice, it sounded different from the manly one she always hear and when she looked back, her replica dressed like a reverend sister pushed her to the ground and Darelia started shifting backwards quickly when she saw the canines of the girl who looked like her, ready to dig into her flesh - her throat seemed hooked as she tried to scream.

The voice suddenly disappeared like waves sent it away and Darelia could finally breath, why is everything coming after her? The wet marks on the wall of her bed, the strange moving statue aren't understood yet and now, different voices are in her head - she feels she's going insane already.

Strangely, she met herself at the front of the statue again and the statue was directly facing her. "Is something in there calling me?" Darelia asked herself because she didn't even know what to think. "Darelia? Darelia!" She could hear Haven's voice from afar and sighed, looking back at the statue.

She stretched her hands to touch it and it moved, she gasped and quickly removed her hands. Something on the statue which was wall - like opened slowly, making creaking sounds. Surprised and afraid but she chose to enter, it closed immediately she entered.

Darelia folded her arms against her chest as she breath out shrilly air, why does it feel so cold inside? She continued walking until she found a staircase there and began to climb slowly, the place was surprisingly neat when she expected it to be cornered with cobwebs.

The room she stepped into after climbing the stairs looks really furnished like someone was actually living there. Looking around, there were shelves everywhere which contained books. An area where arrows and bows were being placed. In the middle of the room, there was a big drawing there.

The drawing was the head of a black cat, holding a weapon she didn't know its name. Darelia gasped in fright when she looked at the image, the meaning of the image. "Behind you!" She fell down when she looked behind her, why did the image have the same meaning to what she has been hearing in her head for the past two days?

After getting a hold of herself and she didn't see anything behind her, she proceeded to looking around the room for anything suspicious or anything that could give her answers. "Dare?" Darelia whispered in her head, forgetting she had lost her cat in the dark fog but will Haven be okay?

Her hands trailed the books that were arranged on the shelves, the books turned out to be very dusty that it made her cough. "What are you doing here?" Darelia turned back swiftly, obviously frightened. She didn't expect anyone would be inside the statue, "You?" Frederick asked, surprised to see the new girl.

Since Darelia couldn't talk, she just kept looking at him like a dummy. "What are you doing out here? It's already bed time." Frederick said, looking at her suspiciously while Darelia also had the same question in mind, what is he doing here?

"Behind you!" Darelia wanted to scream at him as she pushed him out of the way and they rolled to the middle of the room. "What the heck!" Frederick's eyes widened at the animal in front of him, gnashing it's teeth which blood dripped from, at them.

Darelia quickly stood up, the animal is called a goblin but the goblin seemed different. A goblin is supposed to be a mythical creature but this goblin is different as it suddenly vanished from where they were. "Where did it suddenly go?" Frederick asked, he was afraid too, he had never seen a live and big goblin like that.

Darelia rolled her eyes everywhere, at alert for the time the goblin would reappear again because this goblin wasn't a normal mythical creature, it is a spirit of the Heathenry. It was strange to Darelia because the school is called Catholic Academia yet they don't pray or do anything close to catholic churches but this spirit goblin belongs to the Heathenry, how is that possible?

Her eyes widened when she saw the goblin above Frederick's head, ready to pounce on him but just before it could, she pushed him out of the way again. The goblin vanished again, angry at the fact that the girl was always saving his prey.

Before Frederick could say another word, Darelia pulled his hands and they began to run with the goblin chasing after them. "Why is that thing after us?" Frederick yelled as they ran, looking back to see the goblin so close to them and he is even more frustrated because the new girl isn't saying anything to satisfy his curiosity.

Darelia saw a big wardrobe ahead of them and without thinking, she opened it with the thought of them entering it and locking themselves there to hide away from the spirit goblin. To their shock, a dead body fell out immediately the door of the wardrobe was opened - a yell escaped Frederick's mouth.

Darelia looked closely at the dead body and her eyes widened, the body was the girl who died with the blood at the sides of her head. She looked back and saw the goblin coming very close to them that if she doesn't do something, they would both be killed.

She glanced at the dead body and considered it still fresh, she heartlessly kicked the body of the dead girl towards it which heightened the hunger of the spirit goblin that it dug in immediately, drawing the intestines of the dead body out as it moaned loudly.

Darelia took Frederick through the way she came in which led them outside, "Why did you do that?" Frederick was practically shaking in fear, the scene reoccurring in his head "Would you have preferred to be dead instead?" She rolled her eyes as she thought of it.

She began to walk away instead and Frederick stopped her, "That girl won't be able to rest in peace. Who the hell locked her in that wardrobe?" He asked and Darelia's eyes dimmed because that was another question. The body of the girl was supposed to have been buried by her parents and the school but she was locked in a wardrobe, in the statue instead.

Darelia quickly brought out her notepad, drawing images and those images meant - how did you enter into the statue? Frederick read from the book and he glanced at her with Darelia hoping he would be able to interpret her images.

"I don't know how I got here." He scratched his head, trying to remember but paused, looking at her again. "What statue are you talking about?" He asked to Darelia's surprise. She quickly looked back but it was empty, there was no statue and in fact, she was at the front of her hostel.

Wait, she isn't hallucinating again right? "Didn't you see we came out of a statue?" Darelia quickly drew and he raised his brows upwards, shaking his head negatively. There was no statue around and neither did he know how they even ended up where they were.

Darelia shook her head, staggering backwards. What the hell is happening? She definitely remembered walking into the statue, the goblin attacking them and them coming out again, out of the same statue. Frederick insisted he didn't know what he was talking and she entered her hostel, leaving him standing.

Athena and Haven stood up quickly immediately she entered, "Where have you been? We have looked everywhere for you." Athena said while Haven looked at Darelia's features. She had a fearful look in her eyes, her face looked pale and she was literally shivering. "What happened?" Haven grabbed her shoulder.

"As usual, she wouldn't say a word." Fair rolled her eyes when Darelia sat on her bed without replying them. Darelia didn't know what to do, should she tell them about it? Would they understand her when she can't talk and can only draw? Will they even believe her stories isn't cooked up because she is confused herself.

Haven and Athena sat beside her, "What really happened? Say something!" Athena tried not to yell because she was frustrated already. Haven held Athena's hand to give Darelia space while Darelia opened a new page on her notepad and began to scribble down.

She raised it to their faces, Athena's crumpled face meant she didn't understand the meaning of the images. "A statue has a goblin inside." Haven read out aloud and Athena looked at her surprisingly, "You understand her drawings?" She asked and Haven nodded.

Darelia's eyes lit up with hope that someone finally understands her drawing, maybe she would believe her. "A statue opened and the room looked neat. A spirit goblin appeared, ready to attack. A dead body in a wardrobe. Spirit goblin ate the dead body. The statue suddenly disappeared." Haven read and Darelia nodded at each word she read.

Athena looked to and from Haven and Darelia while Haven tried to understand what she just read. "I don't understand any of this, it doesn't make any sense." Haven said, retuning the book to Darelia who pushed it into her hands with a frown.

Darelia used her pencil to point to a word ' statue ' and Haven nodded slowly, her eyes following the direction of the words Darelia was pointing to. Athena understood what she was doing, she was trying to explain using the keywords so she can understand. She just hoped Haven would understand but she was concerned as to why Darelia wouldn't talk but draw instead.

"You entered into the statue and saw a goblin." Haven pointed out, Darelia nodded quickly. Haven took the book again, "It attacked you but saw a dead body and ate it instead." Darelia kept on nodding as she spoke. "You came out but suddenly can't find the statue again." Darelia nodded, dropping her pencil.

Athena stood up, thinking heavily. "I don't understand because there is no statue in the school premises, where did she see a statue?" She asked and Darelia took the book again. "The statue is towards the school gates, a lady holding something like a dagger." Haven read out the meaning of the images.

"We can only find out!" Haven ran outside with the others while Fair had no choice than to go with them after listening to every of their conversation. Darelia led the way to where the statue was but her eyes dimmed to find the place empty.

They all looked around but it was just a plain field that had nothing on it, "Where is this statue you are talking about?" Fair scoffed, folding her arms. Darelia felt like crying, why was everything looking like hallucinations? She pointed to the area, "There's nothing here, Lia." Athena said, dragging her away.

Darelia kept on pointing to the area as Athena dragged her away with Fair ahead of them, walking grumpily because she believed the new girl just wasted their time. Haven suddenly stopped, going back to the area Darelia pointed and began looking at it closely. She bent and picked a small rock which had an inscription on it - behind you!
