Chapter 5 5

I saw twinkling lights hanging around my room. I jumped onto the bed, which felt incredibly soft against my skin. All my dreams were easily attainable here.

"Wow, this is so much fun. Anything I want, I can get it so easily."

I fell into a deep sleep on my bed. In the middle of the night, I woke up, feeling a slight pain in my stomach. I walked down the stairs to use the bathroom.

"I'm scared. How can I escape from this hell?"

I heard my mother talking on the phone with a man whose voice sounded like an adult.

"Keep taking care of our daughter."

I was deeply disappointed to see my mother having an affair behind my father's back. My father was a good man, always putting the interests of his children and wife above everything else, but my mother never seemed grateful. I hated my mother.

"You're not asleep yet?"

I was startled to see my father wrapping his arms around me. I tried to hide my mother's affair, which I saw on her phone.

"My child, go to bed, it's very late."

"Okay, Dad, I'll go to sleep. Goodnight, Dad." I smiled and ran back to my room.

"Goodnight, dear."

I didn't really leave, I sneaked into the bathroom to pee.

"What's Dad's fault? Why does Mom always betray Dad?"

I was infuriated. Why did my mother always hurt my father, who tried so hard to make her happy, and yet she never seemed grateful for what he did? I walked out of the bathroom to return to my room, overhearing my parents talking.

"Baby, why aren't you eating?"

Through the crack of the door, I saw my mother looking at my father with a hateful gaze.

"Who do you think you are to take my daughter?!"

My mother snapped at my father, and I despised her.

"I just want to be a good father to my daughter and a good husband to my wife. Is that a mistake?"

I saw my mother slap my father hard, making me cry and burst into the room.

"Mom!! Stop it! Why are you hitting Dad like that?"

My father looked at me with worried eyes, and he asked me to leave.

"Elise, my child. Go to your room now."

I ran to my room and threw myself onto the bed, falling asleep peacefully on the comfortable bed.

"Mom is wicked, I hate my mother."

The next day, I woke up and found no one in the mansion.

"Dad? Mom? Where are you?"

I found a piece of paper under a plate containing my favorite cereal.

"Wow, all this food is my favorite. What's this?"

I pulled the piece of paper from under the plate and read every word written on it. My father wrote it for me.

"My dear Elise, your mother and I had to leave for work this morning. We're sorry we didn't wake you up. Dad has prepared all your meals and necessities."

I smiled and continued to eat my favorite cereal. After eating, I went into my little sibling's room. I saw my sibling still fast asleep in the baby crib.

"Are they still asleep? Should I wake them up and give them a bath?"

I smiled as I watched my little sibling sleeping peacefully. Then I walked to the garden, which looked inviting to me. The fresh air made me feel calm.

"I never thought before that I would get everything I wanted so easily. It feels like I don't want to leave this place. I want to stay here."

I saw a cargo truck stop in front of our mansion, and I noticed a red car being unloaded from the truck. Three delivery workers brought the car inside the mansion, leaving me puzzled.

"Excuse me, who is this car for?"

The delivery worker remained silent and handed me a piece of paper that clarified the sender of the car.

"Dad?!!"

I jumped with joy. I was only 15 years old, and I received such an incredible gift. I felt immensely happy.

"Thank you, Dad."

I kept jumping for joy, holding the keys to my new car.

"Am I still dreaming? How could Dad have this much money?"

My father was just a middle-class employee in a company, so how could he afford such an expensive gift? But I didn't care. What mattered was that I was incredibly happy because my father had given me everything I wanted.
