Ever since Nathan's redemption last week, he's been finding new ways to talk to me, and really stupid ones might I add.
"Hey, you. Get out of my way." He'd say then bump into me, and in that split second, we would bump fists or he would slip a letter into my hand that usually reads;
Violets are blue
Roses are red
I know this friendship is new
But bruh, how gigantic is your head xP
-Nathan
I shook my head and coughed to hide my laugh. Nathan was walking on thin ice and he still had the audacity to jump. Idiot.
I was going to the cafeteria for lunch when I bumped into you know who.
"Okay, we really have got to stop meeting like this." He chuckled.
I rolled my eyes. "Well, you really have got to stop getting in my way all the time."
Kieran stepped aside and I continued my walk.
"So, your Auntie still hasn't returned your calls?" He walked with me.
"Nope, I'm not surprised. She should be home by now though. It's how she is." I shrugged.
He nodded and then we walked in a deafening silence until he broke it. "Do you eat in the cafeteria?"
"Yeah, why?" My brows furrowed.
"Nothing. It's just too noisy and cramped for me. I like my own peace and quiet." He shrugged.
"So, where do you eat instead?"
"The bleachers, the fields, the fountain. It really depends on the weather and my mood."
I nodded and stayed silent.
Was it just me or was this boy asking me to not eat in the cafeteria and eat with him instead?
We got to the cafeteria doors and we could already hear the noise.
I looked at Kieran, who raised a brow at me.
"Yeah, I think I might try your whole outside eating thing."
I saw him smirk but I just shook my head and let him lead me. And we found ourselves at the bleachers.
"So, Jenna asked me to give you..." Kieran said, bringing out a plate of Jenna's homemade pizza that I know too well.
"No way." I said, grabbing the plate out of his grasp.
"This." I heard him murmur but I paid no attention.
"Why do you love these things so much?" He rolled his eyes.
My mouth fell open, how dare he?
"You're joking, right?" I said without looking at him.
"Most definitely not." He smirked.
There was something about his smirks that made me feel weird inside.
Nah, it's probably the worms.
"Are you going to eat that, or you're gonna keep staring at me?" He chuckled.
I blinked and averted my eyes a little too quickly. I didn't even realise I had been staring.
"Actually, since you don't know how good it is, why don't you eat it?"
His brows shot up. "What?"
I nodded and handed him the plate with a tight lipped smile. What was I doing?
He rolled his eyes then took it from me. "If you didn't want it, you could have just said so."
"Oh, I want it but you, you need it. It'll take that ever present scowl off your face." I said bringing out my own lunch from my bag.
I could feel his eyes glaring daggers at me but I couldn't care less. Jenna's pizzas were amazing.
"Okay, this looks disgusting." I heard him murmur.
"I heard that and you are even stupider than you look if you really think so." I spat.
There was a hint of shock in his eyes, almost like he hadn't be called stupid in his entire life. But it disappeared almost as quickly as it came.
He took one pizza and ate it, a look of utter disgust plastered on his face.
I snorted as he chewed, and watched his face morph into a mixture of surprise, satisfaction and approval.
"Okay, this isn't as bad as it looks." He said, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
I forced a smile on my face, "And would you look at that, you're not as stupid as you look."
His face fell and I tilted my head back in laughter.
I bit into my sandwich. "So, what brought you to Lonburne?"
He shrugged, "I don't know, I came to see Jenna I guess."
"She never mentioned a nephew."
He just shrugged and took another slice of pizza while I questioned my sanity.
You gave away your pizza just so he could eat it in your face? Stupid.
"What'd you say?" Kieran asked.
"Oh, nothing. Are you enjoying that pizza?" I said with a forced smile.
"Yeah, it's really good. Want some?"
At that moment, I grabbed the plate out of his hand before he could even finish his sentence. I wasn't going to turn down the pizzas twice. How had I even turned it down in the first place? Ah, it was that weird smirk he always had on his face that got me confused. Well, sorry stupid smirk, not falling for that again. I ate the pizzas, two slices at a time with a look of triumph and satisfaction on my face. Beat that, sucker!
And then, he smirked.
I blinked out of my wild imagination and cleared my throat, "No thanks. Enjoy the pizzas, but know this, you owe me."
"Well, if you really think about it, I don't. Because I offered, it was you who rejected." He said and took another slice.
"I only rejected your offer because you look like it's your first time eating proper food in your entire life." I snorted.
He stopped chewing and glared at me.
"What? It's just a joke. Suck it up." I threw a piece of bread at him.
He swallowed then said, "I will have you know that I eat the most princely of foods where I come from."
I rolled my eyes and ate the last of my sandwich, "Oh, and where might that be?"
We heard the bell ring and he cleared his throat, "Somewhere you don't belong."
I held my chest in mock hurt, "How dare you? I have more class than you think. Heck, I doubt you even come from somewhere classy, which is why I don't belong there." I said and flipped my hair at him.
I heard him scoff and he probably rolled his eyes but I couldn't see it because I was already walking ahead of him.
"What class do you have?" Kieran asked me when we got to his locker.
"Literature." I said, "You?"
"Same."
As we walked to our literature class, we walked past Mia and Nathan who were unashamedly making out and then Mia's eyes shot open and she jumped away from Nathan and smirked at Kieran.
"Ew." I heard Kieran murmur and I was sure there was a look of disgust on his face because Mia's face fell. Meanwhile, I could have sworn Nathan's face went from uninterested to shock to anger.
All these happened in two seconds.
Crazy, huh.
