Chapter 2 Lost

(Leah)

Fuck! Fuck it all and damn everyone to hell. I can't believe that I'm lost, I should have listened to my best friend Olivia, but I didn't. I wanted to hurry and leave, so I chose to drive at one in the morning. It's Sunday now, so you know that the road is deserted. I jumped when I heard a whistling sound, only to calm down after I figured out that it was the wind. Ugh. I took up my phone and saw that the battery was dead and groaned. Dropping my head on the steering wheel, I tried to figure out what I'm going to do. That's why you should never rely on GPS, that thing will send you straight to hell, and you'd never see it coming. OK, I'm calm. I can do this, I just need to figure out what to do from here. It's that easy, right? I mean, it's not like Freddie Krueger or Jason would attack me right now, or predator. Damn, if I'm going to sit here and let the clown in the movie IT come and take my life. I'm only twenty-six years old, I have a lot to live for. With that in my mind, I did the only thing I can do, I started to freak out more. My heart nearly gave out when I heard a tap on the window, my soul left my body, and I was frozen from fear. I took a deep breath and turned around, almost giving myself a whiplash, but then I noticed that it was an elderly lady and breathed a sigh of relief. I rolled the window halfway down, just in case this lady turned out to be Dracula in disguise.

"Hi, I'm Gloria. I was passing by and saw you here. Was wondering if you needed help?" Gloria asked. I furrowed my brows, wondering whether I should trust her or not. I mean, what's the worst that could happen?

"I'm traveling from Ohio to my friend's house here in Michigan when I got lost. I don't even know why I chose to leave in the middle of the night, but I have to get to this Stone King area or some bullshit like that." I said, making Gloria laugh before replying.

"It happens sporadically. Stone King is located deeper in the forest area. I am from there, so if you like, I could guide you." I guess I had no other choice but to accept her offer, I can't just sit here and wait to become the next victim, so I'll take anything I can get.

"Thank you, Gloria, you're not a psycho killer. Leading me to your den, right?" Gloria laughed and shook her head, denying that title.

"I'm not, dear, now buckle up and follow me. Make sure you stay behind me at all times. If you drift back, then I'll stop and wait for you." I nodded my head and started my car. After she drove off, I did the same as well. Hoping that I'm doing the right thing. Please pray for me. It was a couple of hours later when we finally arrived. I was exhausted and needed to sleep so badly that I didn't waste another second and got out of my car as soon as I parked it. Gloria asked me to follow her, which I did and even though it was dark, I could tell that this house was huge. My mind couldn't comprehend how many bedrooms might be here, I just needed to find one and take a nap.

"What did you say your friend's name was again?" Gloria asked after we made it inside. She took my coat and put it on the hanger. "Olivia West," I replied, and she nodded her head.

"She's the Beta daughter, I'll go and tell her that you're here. Please, make yourself at home." The Beta's what? Haha. Ok, I'm in another state, but that doesn't mean I have to learn another language, right? Oh shoot, what if I have to? I was once again panicking when I heard a shrill scream and what appeared to be a stampede running towards me, I braced myself for the impact as a tiny 5 '3 frame was immediately plastered against mine. I chuckled and hugged my best friend, whom I haven't seen for more than six months.

"Hey bitch, I have a problem with you," Olivia said as she pulled away from me and started dragging me to God knows where.

"Get in line, whore." I replied, making her laugh. "I told you to come in the morning. What in the ever-loving fudge muffin were you driving at this hour?" I cringed, knowing that I was in for it. I thought I was brave enough to take on the trip, but my mind had a way of twisting things around, even when it didn't appear so.

"I still made it, right?" I asked, already knowing the answer to that.

"You could have made it broken, but thanks to Gloria, you got here alright. But damn girl, your trust magnet got broken on the way here. I thought you said that you would never trust a stranger." I pouted, knowing that I went back on my words. Furthermore, I was in a bad situation at the time, like a couple of hours ago. So, what the devil was I supposed to do?

"If you were in my position, you would do the same as well. Casper could scare the shit out of you if you were the one who got lost." Ok, I don't know what I'm on, forgive me if that doesn't make any sense.

"FYI, Casper is a friendly ghost, he can't scare anyone. Just admit that you messed up big time." As if I would. We finally arrived at a room that Olivia said was going to be mine, it was right next to hers, so we were going to be neighbors. The room was spacious and fit for a princess. Everything was here that I needed, and I thank God for it because I won't be leaving this room until I'm well rested.

"Are you hungry?" Olivia asked and I shook my head.

"Tired, I'll get something to eat later," I replied. Before Olivia left, she turned to me and looked at me with pity in her eyes. My heart broke when I realized the meaning of that look.

"If you require anyone to talk to, I'm here. I know that Ethan did something to you, but I'm not sure what it was. I should have been there for you, but I failed. Not only that, but I'm sorry you had to go through that alone, babe." I smiled at her but did not reply because I didn't want to talk about that right now.

"Oh, and since you're going to be staying here, I have something important that I need to tell you. It's a secret, but now I have to tell you, so you would know exactly what's going on here. I'll see you later." She blew me a kiss before leaving. I kicked my shoes off and crawled into bed, too tired to even take a shower since I already took one before I left and my armpit wasn't smelling like goat piss, so I'm good. Trying to get comfortable on the bed, I fell asleep with a smile on my face, knowing that everything was going to be alright from now on.
