2. Mysterious princess

Alpha king Alan's POV

"I am moving toward the south, you go to the west. I want the herbs today anyway. It is very difficult to see the cubs infected!" My beta was connected with me on our mind link.

We were in the Vesium woods of my Brave Blood Pack looking for this curative herb commonly known as Giant Dodder or Cuscuta reflexa that heals infections like shingles. "Understood Alan." Three percent of cubs in my pack have been caught up in an epidemic that has infected their skin with shingle-like disease and it is only increasing.

Yesterday, I attended the fourth death in a row in the last week. My doctors tried to make antidote but it is incomplete with this Curative herb that can heal their skin within the consummation of a night and here I, Alan Alvares, the alpha male of my Brave Blood Pack am here looking for the same so that the cubs can be cured from the epidemics.

Twenty six years of my life has been a journey filled with adventures, memories and a bitter truth. I have had everything I wished for except a mate. Yeah, that is fucking true. Alan Alvares is a mate-less alpha who has now given up on the thought of having a mate.

I have searched in the worst corner of the world for her unfortunately, everytime I came back empty handed. It is not only limited to searching in the worst environment but also the infinite mating balls I attended till I was twenty four However, two years ago I decided to just quit.

In fact, I met many she-wolfs on my parents' insistence after quitting but to no avail. Like any other time I came back alone. None of them suited me. It is even not that I am a cruel badass alpha like how we are often described.

Okay, okay I am sorry to lie about that, I acknowledge I am a heck of a cruel badass alpha but I do have a pleasing personality too. Also, a fierce aura around me that everyone is frightened of still- I am as good as my father- kind and polite alpha who can do anything to finish off the work in any situation.

For instance, this one. Where I have come to find the herb before evening otherwise Adrian, my beta's little brother will lose his life. He is one of the infected.

In fact I will not hesitate accepting that I committed many murders, destroyed many lives, slaved people for disrespecting me, had hot mistresses and even had sex with other Alphas' mates while being on important trips like Fete Faction (A kind of meet and greet of Alphas for the betterment of relationships between their packs) but still i have reserved my heart for my mate, who is yet to come in my life. I even made out during wars haha.

And currently, I have a mistress Jenny Bob who is as good as anything in bed. Well don't get Mr wrong, I didn't want her. In fact, I never wanted to bring any other she-wolf in my bed except for my mate. It is just that, since I could not find my mate I got myself mistress out of frustration.

I mean, I am eagerly waiting for her but I don't know where she is. It's been years and I haven't found her. Ugh, it was frustrating and annoying for Alois and to satisfy my anger, I took Jenny for a mistress. You can't expect a handsome alpha like me to stay alone, can you?

I found her during a trip to Canada. She was with a friend. She caught my attention when we bumped near the pool side and she showed her interest in me. And as that trip was the last of my quest to find my mate, I returned home with Jenny when I couldn't find that bloody mate of mine.

Bringing Jenny was not planned but I have promised myself that after I find her, my Luna, I will never look at any other female. I will give my all to her. Even Jenny knows that. It was her pure will to serve herself to me when I made everything clear to her. When the time comes, she knows that she will have to leave.

Yeah, I know that sounds unbelievable. Like how can an alpha male be so loyal rather than being a horny dick but here I am .

I have promised to myself I will love her more than anything in life. Also, change to a better partner as per her wishes. I will leave my bad habits and be an ideal mate for her. I promise.

What the heck am I even thinking! I need to look for the plant now. Alan focus, focus hard.

From Climbing the trees to lifting the rocks, crossing the stream to digging the land I did everything albeit, I can't find the herb. "Addy, did you get something! I am still unsuccessful." As after I rested my butt on the rock in order to catch some calm breaths I connected to him again.

I heard him sigh amidst his reply, "No I am still searching. Alan, my brother will be fine right!" My back straightened in concern, feeling his pain. His voice was laced with deadly agony.

"Obviously he will be! Don't forget what my father used to say during our training, 'Lose everything in life but hope as it is the only thing that keeps the world and lives going.' So stop being an ass. Get up and do yo-"

I had to stop abruptly, I could hear someone's breaths right behind my back. "Addy there is someone behind me."

"What! Wait, what is it! "

" I don't know. I am sitting on a rock and on my back I have bushes, I can feel someone's warmth hitting me. And the smell-fuck!"

"What! (concerned) Alan, what smell! Tell me."

I cannot speak anything! Whether to be happy or shocked, I was just confused. The smell of dragon fruit and Yarrow flower felt so prodigious and- hypnotizing. "Mate!!! Alan, it is our mate! She is... She is finally here, I can smell a strong wolf. She is fierce and strong, just like you!"

Can't cease that contending smile appearing on my lips. So finally after years of search, she is here. My mate, my better half.

"You bitchy alpha, speak up! What kind of smell is that? Is it fresh blood? There might be rogues around you. Or an animal!" Adrian shouted on the link that even my neurons pained whilst sending the message. "Just try to handle it, I will be the-"

"Alan, careful!" My wolf, Alois, screamed that I had to turn around.

No sooner did I make a move than my gaze fell on the blade of a hunter's wooden knife being aimed right over my heart..

"Ohh! That was hot!" My breaths stuck in my throat, eyes staring at the face that I have been waiting to spare my glance on since ages as I quickly with extraordinary speed pounced her wrist hence putting her attack in vain.

Her eyes held fear and courage, both. The fear of being killed as my grip was getting tighter and tighter under her effect and courage as though she was not someone who would give up so easily. My typical mate type!

"Let go of my hand, you bastard!!!"

"Ohh so she has a sharp tongue. Alan, We will have to be careful if we have to sustain our lives with her! I am in love with her."

She attempted to shout while struggling to free her hand and that is when I realized she was actually shivering.

Her eyes had a depth that screamed of her fears. I pulled her close, giving her appearance a close look. She was draped in a torn cloak above a royal gown defining her class. She must be someone from a royal family! But, why here in the middle of the woods in such condition? I wondered.

My mate, my fierce mate was finally in front of me. I cannot stop smiling even though she was cursing and abusing me. Her free hand did its work of scratching my skin with her broken, damaged nails. However, what made me stop smiling was her face. There was a cut on the left corner of her lips, a scratch on her right cheek and a bleeding wound on her forehead.

"Why are you injured!" Although it was not the time to ask that as it was just adding up to her feared expressions yet the wolf inside me can't tame himself. She seemed to be on the verge of crying. "Did you run away from your house!" My heart was disappointingly burning in fury.

After a thorough search for years when I at length furnished my mate, I gotta see her oozing lips and bleeding damaged face! What the heck, Is that how I was destined to meet my Luna, moon goddess! The sight of her blood bled my heart. "Let me go you filthy dirty rogue! Just leave my hand and stop asking me questions as if you are my mate.

Yes, I am your mate. I wanted to say but I kept mum.

She breathed heavily ignoring my interrogation that I had to divert my eyes away from her body.

Because the way her full attractive chest went up and down, it seemingly made it difficult for me to stay in control. I fixed my eyes on a trunk of a tree in the fro- freaking goodness, Cuscuta reflexa, the herb that I have been looking for!

"She is so lucky for us, Alan."

My attention was diverted and that is what she took the advantage of and stabbed the wooden knife in my arm. "Ahhh Ahhh" I fell to the ground as the pain ran through the length of my arm. I haven't consumed any antidotes before coming here, so it crumpled the cells of my skin severely, amplifying the pain.

Notwithstanding, I ain't not letting her go anywhere! It took me fucking years to find her and I appreciate her courage that she bravely attacked me (I wished for a fierce mate after all) but, she should know she is not anymore free. She is my possession and I will not let her go anywhere.

Little beautiful mate, you think I am a rogue, right! Let's play like one now!

(Rising to his full height, he sauntered ahead to chase his mysterious mate.)
