Chapter 2 New person

In the car, while Xander was alone, he remembered when the doctor called to announce to him that they found a woman whose features matched that of Erica's and was excited that she was found. All his life, he thought that Erica's death was fake and that she was alive somewhere. When the doctor explained that the woman was in an accident and they conducted a test that didn't match Erica's. The doctor further explained that she might need to undergo facial surgery to get back her looks, Xander had him do a similar look to Erica's without considering the consequences.

Now, seeing the woman who had the face of his beloved, Xander wants to claim her at all costs and she seems obstinate. The issue provoked him. Why is she being so stubborn? They found and saved her even when she could die, he made sure that at all costs she survived the accident and now she owed her life to him. Xander gets out of the car and heads back into the hospital to talk things out with Katerina.

"That shouldn't be my business, you all can't force me into claiming someone else's identity all in the name of trying to please someone who is as ungrateful as your boss." Katerina blurted out in frustration.

"If he was so obsessed with his woman, he shouldn't have let her die when he could die in her place," Katerina yelled, Immediately she stood up and tried to leave and as she turned towards the door, she saw Xander standing by the door.

"Mr. Scott," Gray called. Xander had heard everything they discussed with Katerina but that didn't seem to be his problem as all he wanted was for her to accept his terms. He saw that her face was normal and had no injury, her index finger was plastered. She had injured her fingers earlier and not her face.

Later, the trio could be seen in a room that wasn't the hospital room. Katerina had followed Xander to his home to talk things out with them. She needed her real face back and had to go meet her husband. He must be missing her at the moment. She wondered how devastated Darius would be when the police hadn't found her till that moment. Katerina was given a room and a few clothes to change into. Xander didn't have any female clothes in his home because he hardly had female guests. They had to stop by a boutique and get her new dresses to wear.

When Katerina wanted to speak with him, he asked that they postpone the discussion to the next day and Katerina couldn't wait. She made her decision to escape that night. Unbeknownst to Xander, Katerina lived in Santa Monica, which was closer to his Villa in Beverly Hills. Katerina calculated how long it would take her to reach Santa Monica if she walked that night because she didn't have money for a taxi. After eating the dinner served by the maiden, Katerina found herself falling fast asleep and before she knew it, it was morning.

Katerina yelled out loudly as she woke up to find out that it was morning. She had the opportunity to escape the previous night and she ended up sleeping it off. Katerina found it hard to believe that she wasn't drugged because it was hard for her to sleep, like her previous self. Katerina tried to pretend as if nothing had happened because if she wanted to escape an obsessive maniac like Xander Scott she'll have to work with intelligence. That morning, they had breakfast together in the dining room. Xander couldn't get his eyes off Katerina as they ate together. While Katerina slowly plotted her escape plans in her thoughts.

She knew that he only stared at her because of her face and nothing more.

"I'm sorry." She heard what Xander said and she almost choked on the sandwich.

"Sorry for what? For changing my looks without my permission or are you apologizing to the one you made me look like?." Katerina shot at him instantly.

Xander clenched his fist tightly on the fork and after a few minutes, he stood up.

"Wait," Katerina called him to a halt.

"What do you want?." He asked,

"Can I at least call my family and let them know that I'm okay? They might be worried." She said,

"You'll get to do that after everything is settled," Xander replied briefly and he left.

"Bastard." She cursed. Katerina wondered how a big mansion like Xanders's, had no telephone at any angle. She noticed that the plugs were cut off. He must've done it purposely to keep her away from communication.

She must escape tonight no matter what.

Katerina stayed in the room all day, waiting for the night to come. Xander promised to address her after he gets back from work.

During the evening, Katerina got bored and Xander was yet to be back from work. She decided to watch TV and wait for him. Luckily for her, she didn't have to go downstairs to watch the TV because she had one in her room.

Just as she switched it on, her eyes fell on the images on the news broadcasting channel. Her images were on the net and it was proclaimed that she had died in a car accident. Her death news was fast spreading and it had thousands of views on the internet. They also announced that her husband fixed her funeral for next week. It has been three months since her death. She was in a coma for three months after the surgery. Katerina thought of how quickly Darius was eager to bury her. But she wasn't dead, whose body were they burying? She had to reveal herself but not with this face. if she could also get a DNA test to prove her identity to him. She watched the interview that Darius did with the press the previous day. He seemed devastated and looked sick. Katerina wished she could meet him quickly and explain things to him.

Katerina couldn't wait anymore, She left the mansion. Getting out of the villa was harder than she thought as there were bodyguards at every angle she came across. It took about thirty minutes for her to escape from the villa. She walked on the quiet and lonely streets for a long while before she reached the highway where cars and taxis could be seen. Katerina walked down the road for about fifteen minutes before she got really tired. Her legs were numb from walking for so many hours and she couldn't stand or move any further. Katerina squatted down to rest her foot. After a few minutes when she finished resting, Katerina was just about to resume walking when she saw Darius leave a shopping mall in the company of a woman. "Darius?." She muttered. Thanking her stars, she instantly ran towards him excitedly. She was ready to do anything to convince him that it was her. Just when she reached where they stood, beside his car, she saw Darius and the woman he was with, kissing romantically. The woman who seemed so much in love with Darius broke the kiss and they shared a stare for a moment.

"You know that we can't be seen doing this in public, the press may misunderstand and ruin our hard work so far," Carla explained. Katerina was surprised to see that it was Carla who was with her man. Carla was her very good friend and they'd shared almost everything since childhood. She never thought that Carla would go after her man immediately after her death. Katerina stood dumbfounded and watched them from afar and she took a few steps backward. Still, in shock from the sight before her, she was unable to move.
