Chapter 2 Rick (POV)

I am the Future-Alpha Rick Danger of my pack, Blue Moon Eclipse. I am six foot five inches. I have blonde hair, brown eyes. I know that I am fit. Being an alpha, I train every morning with our warriors. They have a hard time keeping up with me. I just got back from alpha training a week ago. It's the end of August. My mother keeps bugging me about going to other packs and visiting. She hopes I will meet my mate so I can take over. My father's health is not too good. I go and visit just to pacific my mother for at least a lit bit.

I need a strong mate not some lowlife. My father keeps telling me a strong mate makes a strong pack and will produce strong pups. I have my eye on Ursula. She is the beta's daughter. "No, I am sorry. She had already left for the university back in June. But she will be back today for the Lunar Moon celebration. She should be here by mid-day. How is your father doing? "

"He is doing as well as can be? Why did Autumn leave so early for college? I mean, I assume she would wait until classes actually started." How did I not notice that she was gone for weeks already. My head is up in the clouds. I did not even pay attention to how long I had been avoiding Autumn.

"You know my daughter has always been pretty head strong. She left to the campus. Got a job the same day she arrived there. She is already ahead in her studies. She sent a message that she would be leaving Friday and be here mid-day. She will leave right after the celebration, back to school."

Does she not want to spend time with family? Or the pack or her friends?"

"Really? You and I both know she does not have any real friends here. She has always done things her way. She is determined to accomplish exactly what she has planned out for herself. The gamma says as I notice all of the certificates of accomplishment on the wall behind him. There are over a dozen. Outstanding student, achievement of over 4.0 grade point average, high honors, dean's list is the newest. Didn't she just start college. She did not waste any time.

Her father, Patrick, stood from the table. "Yes, Alpha. She is at her hotel and will be here shortly. Should I send her to see you?"

"No, no. It is alright. I will speak to her later. Carry on with dinner." I walk off not waiting for a reply.

I feel a pain in my chest and cannot breathe. I dropped to my knees. This is not supposed to happen. She accepted and it backfired on me. She cut all ties to this pack. Why would she do that? I am struggling to catch my breath. I drop to my knees. My wolf is screaming at me. He keeps telling me that I am an idiot. I just threw away my mate, like she was nothing. I believe the moon goddess will give me a second chance. She must...right?

I expected to see Autumn back at the celebration but there was no sign of her. I felt her leave the pack land. I feel a hole in my chest. I walked back onto the stage and announced that my mate left me and the pack. My mother tries to comfort me and of course, so does Ursula. I announce Ursula as my chosen mate.

I do not feel any stronger. Your mate is supposed to make you stronger. I feel weak. Ursula will have to try harder. She will give me a strong pup. She must.

My mind keeps going back to Autumn. I cannot get her out of my mind.
