Chapter 6 Make him fall in love

"I..." Angelica had just opened her mouth to speak when Nicholas narrowed his eyes, he didn't wait for her to complete her words before he sat himself down in a chair, the table had already been fully set, and the delicious looking dishes sat appealingly on the table.

Without another thought, Nicholas picked up his cutlery serving himself, he took a bite, and as he chewed the food in his mouth, the taste spread on his tongue and his chewing suddenly paused. He looked up seeing a flustered look on Angelica's face,

"You made this?" he asked calmly.

"I..." she paused thinking her words through for a second before replying quickly, "Tessa did."

He raised a brow and Angelica added, "Tessa made it, I only helped." She lowered her head not wanting to feel her blood run cold again at the cold look in his eyes.

"I see." He suddenly said getting up. Angelica thought he was upset and about to walk away but she was frightened when he suddenly began to approach her. She stepped back but he kept approaching.

Her scared eyes met his dark ones, his thick brows drawn together in a frightening frown.

Her back soon met the wall and she had nowhere else to step back to, he didn't speak for a long time but stared down at her with a disturbing glare.

"I just...I just wanted to do something since I was staying at home all day doing nothing, so i...helped her make dinner." Angelica felt the need to explain seeing the upset look on his face.

"So what was your plan this time, to drug me, or make me fall for you by claiming you made me a delicious meal?"

Her eyes quickly swung up to meet his in shock hearing his words, not giving her a chance to reply, he continued. "Hmm, I already took a bite, so I'm sure the food wasn't drugged, so that means it was the second option."

Leaning closer, his nose almost brushing against hers, Angelica almost felt her breath stop, "What's wrong? Got scared to continue lying to my face so you changed your words? Bet you had no idea Tessa already told me you made dinner by yourself, which only means you made her say that so I'll give you all the credit."

Angelica had no idea that Tessa already spoke to him, so she was shocked to hear his words when she had used Tessa as a cover up. "I didn't..."

Nicholas cut her off again, "You wanted to play the little wife cooking for her husband right? What's that phrase people say again?" He looked as if he was in thought for some time before speaking up again, "Ah, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, I see you believe in this phrase a lot huh? But did you think a meal is going to change my feelings about you, couldn't have been more wrong."

Nicholas sounded incredibly disgusted with her, he gave her a mocking gaze before pulling away, he turned his back to her, "Better not try to play any tricks on me again, because I assure you, I won't hesitate to punish you if you plot against me again, and this time even my mother won't be able to save you."

His strides were long and composed when he walked away, but that soft timid voice that had been ringing in his head the whole day sounded again stopping his strides abruptly.

"Why do you hate me so much?"

He looked taken aback by that question, it was almost the same thing she had asked him last night. Once again his face darkened at that question, and the innocence in her tone completely irked him, he hated the fact that she sounded hurt. Turning around it took less than two long strides for him to have her against the wall again. He fiercely pinched her thin arms in his large palms, "Do you really not know or are you pretending to be innocent again? If you think this is hatred then I'll show you hell, and you'll get twice the punishment hell could ever offer." Angelica was beyond frightened by his sudden rage, she was almost shivering in his grasp tears pooled up in her eyes.

She could see his expression change subtly as he stared into her eyes before that expression quickly disappeared again, "It doesn't suit you. You look incredibly disgusting playing pitiful with tears in your eyes. But know that no matter what you do, you will never be able to get my sympathy, nothing can change the disgust I have for a pathetic gold digging bitch." His cold words once again jabbed her like a painful dagger to the heart, "If you know what's good for you, keep away from me, else don't hold me responsible for whatever I do to you, I don't want to ruin my day by seeing your face."

His anger for her seemed to have intensified in just a single night, however, Angelica was determined to complete the mission which brought her into this house and into the life of this cold hearted man whom she had once loved.

'One way or another, I will have to win your heart Nick, I will win your heart for Diana despite how much you hate her.' Angelica silently made this promise to herself as she watched his broad back as he walked away angrily.

Perhaps he despised Diana now for a reason Angelica couldn't fathom, but she knew that love was something that could slowly be built, and she had to build that love in order to finish her mission, for her family's sake.

"You look very beautiful madam." Tessa commented honestly.

Angelica woke up from her momentary daze, her vision steadying on her own reflection in the mirror. She had on makeup that accentuated her features and also went with the theme of the party they were to be attending, but her features still looked exquisitely beautiful, she was wearing a maroon red dress with a partially full skirt.

Angelica's mind had been preoccupied by thought s of how she would clear Nicholas's hatred for Diana, but she knew that in order to solve a problem, one must first confront it's roots, but with the kind of reaction Nicholas had when she had asked him why he seemed to hate Diana, Angelica wouldn't be able to ask him about It again.

Angelica sighed audibly.

"Is something bothering you madam?" Tessa asked noticing the worry on her face.

"Nothing Tessa, please pass me the mask." Angelica said getting up from the vanity, she took the mask that matched her dress and placed it on her face tying it's strings behind her head. The mask completed her overall look and she looked like a fairytale princess on her way to an elegant masquerade ball.

"Master is waiting for you downstairs." Tessa said leading her out the room.

Angelica caught sight of the tall figure standing below the stairs, his hands were tucked into the pockets of his suit pants. He looked regal with his dark hair swept back, the suit held onto his muscular body in an alluring manner, he was indeed a man who was capable of making any woman dream of him every night.

Angelica recalled that he had always looked like this ever since his youth, it was those same looks that had first entrapped her young heart, but little did she know back hen that she would only get her heart broken.

Angelica was still standing on the top of the stairs as she stared at him, he seemed to sense a gaze on him as he tilted his face their gazes locked at this moment.

He seemed to freeze for some time, his eyes trailing the length of her body taking in the full view of her, his eyes came up to meet hers, behind the mask her eyes still shone with the same innocent naivety. And perhaps it was her imagination, but Angelica thought he looked stunned, however, before she was able to confirm if she hadn't just been seeing things, he immediately looked away.

"Are you planning to take the whole evening before coming down? The event won't be waiting for you." After dropping that sarcastic comment, Nicholas walked out of the house without waiting for her.

As angelica stared at his tall back walk away, she had a determined expression on her face.

"You can do this Angelica, you can definitely make him love you."
