Chapter 2 Mixed feelings

It's been two weeks our parents broke the news of us getting married, my mother sent the maid to tell me to prepare that we are going out, immediately I went downstairs to the sitting room to ask my mother where we were going go? She said it was a surprise and I should dress decent, I went back to my room I missed Kelvin's call, I couldn't returned his call because I was preparing to go out with my mom, I am really reluctant of going out with my mother, because this woman can be up to anything, I'm almost done dressing when I heard the sound of our car horn, I rushed outside to meet my mum, we

drove out.

After Twenty minutes' drive, all I could see was our church building, so I said to my mum, you didn't tell me we are going to church, my mother that's why it's a surprise, I saw Kelvin waving at me from his car with his mother smiling at my mother, we met at the entrance of the church, Kelvin and I asked what was going on? They both responded, both of you are here for counseling for your upcoming wedding, Kelvin responded Mrs Bakare are you taking my parents serious? No I'm not, we are taken your words serious, my mother and kelvin's mother left with my mum (Mrs Bakare).

Kelvin started laughing and I responded this is not funny at all, like why would our parents take our empty promises serious we were joking and it was the spur of the moment, A couple drove inside the compound, Kelvin said this is another couple coming for counselling, the couples came to meet us and we exchange pleasantries, and the marriage counsellor opened the door for us, we entered and sat down, At the first two minutes the room was silent till the counsellor broke the silence, he introduced himself as Pastor Tim and he is going to be our marriage counselor, after Pastor Tim introduced himself, we were told to introduce ourselves, I started first, my name is Kelsy I am a lawyer, I work with Bakare and Co firm, my name is Kelvin I am a Doctor I work with Badmus Health Insurance (BHI), the other couple introduced themselves as My name is Sonia I own a fashion house and a Boutique, Sonia fashion empires , My name is Jake I am senior manager at Oceanic Bank.

So please tell us why you decided to get married, anybody can answer the pastor Tim was staring at Sonia and Jake, Jake is my customer, he comes to buy clothes from my boutique because I sell both male and female wears, Jake asked me out on a date which I agreed, during our date we found out we are both single and we are ready for marriage, that moment we agreed to get married, so you both agreed to marry because you are both single I asked while laughing, kelvin laughed too, that's funny you know, who marries like that, and Jake said we are not complaining with anger, Pastor Tim decorum please, your turn looking at us, I responded we are here because our parents said we must get married, in fact we were forced to be here today, Sonia said at least we were not forced to get married (laughing) we have known each other since birth kelvin replied, Jake asked why are your parents forcing you two to get married? Kelvin responded few years ago I and kelsy made pact to get married when are both Thirty and single, we didn't know that our parents took note of it, right we are both stuck and they are using our word against us.
