Chapter 4 Jane story

She woke up at the crack of the dawn ,she couldn't sleep well as she rolled over she felt a sharp pain in her hand that was when she remembered what happened the previous day.

she got up and opened her window the cloud was so beautiful and full of stars she loved nature and hope to see a shooting star so she would make a wish.

Her stomach rumbled that was when she remembered she didn't have dinner last night She went to kitchen and made herself noodles and ate it hurriedly and gulp a cup of water.

Jane keeps checking her phone to see a message from Alex but later dropped her phone

it when she got tired, she had applied for the post of a secretary and the interview is today ,she searched for a corporate wear and iron it to her satisfaction.

Despite the fact that she had attended series of interview it was all in futility, she silently prayed she would get the job this time as she combed her beautiful long hair and applied a light make up she doesn't need much though just want to look simple.

The interviewer was a calm individual,when it was her turn to be interviewed she was asked some questions which she was able to answer correctly the interviewer was so impressed after both the written and oral test which she performed excellently..

" We will get back to you miss Jane " she said but hearing those words makes her disappointed all her interview always end with those words and that's how it has always has always been.

The day is still young when she checked her time

I need to visit mum she thought ,it is been almost three months since she visited her last ,she always avoid going to her house cause she is always on her neck particularly about her life style.

" Jane you need to change your lifestyle be happy with whatever you have so you would be able to go far in life " she would always tell her and hearing those words annoys her alot.

Her mom is a devoted christian that cherish God's word so much but Jane is a thorn in her flesh.

"Good day mom " Jane said as she hugged her

" Hello my beauty queen " she said as gave her a kiss on her cheeks ,she loves it whenever she calls her that name .

" Have missed you dear ,you have grown more beautiful " her mom said admiring her.

She looked at her mom ,she had aged faster than when last she saw her.

Her hair is as white as snow no single strand of black hair anymore she is just in her early fifty for crying out loud.

" what really happened " she thought , though she have battling with high blood pressure for about two years and have been on several medications but that shouldn't be responsible for it.

" Mom are you okay " she asked with sadness in her voice

" Yes my dear,am hale and hearty " she said smiling,but in her smile one could see the sadness and the pain ,of course she knows her even when she is in pain she would say she is fine.

Jane went to the kitchen she couldn't see any foodstuffs , it was literally empty.

" Mom what have you been eating " she asked her voice trembling with emotions as looked straight in her eyes,her skin have become saggy one would think she is in her nineties.

" My dear,am okay you don't have to worry yourself " she said and brought her laundry basket and trying to fold her clothes one could tell she was just doing that to avoid more questions from her daughter.

Jane randomly searched her bag ,she still have about five hundred dollars left from the money Alex gave her.

She called her younger brother about eighteen years of age and handed three hundred dollars to him.

" Here ,take this and get as much foodstuffs as you can get with it please do that today " she said with a high pitched voice.

"I don't need your money All I need from you is to change that is enough for me my dear " she said as collected the money from him and stretch it out to her.

She was furious, why does she keep rejecting anything she gives her.

" Mom, seriously ? "She scoffs

" Am not taking that money back,if you don't need it give it my younger brothers,they are almost turning to bones mom! " she said and Storm out of the house with fury , closing the door and almost pulling it out.

Still angry she got to her House opened her drawer and brought a pack of cigarettes , went to the kitchen to get a lighter .

The smoke from the cigarettes filled the house ,her eyes looking from one corner to the other she took the pack of the cigarette and read loudly.

" Smokers are liable to die young '' she repeat the word consistently and thought then why are they producing stuffs that would make people to die young as she puffed more of the smoke into the air.

Her mood lighten up when she received a message from Alex.

"Hey babe,hope you are good am so glad to tell you that I finally broken up with ivy so I can actually be with you forever , love you sweetie" she jumped up out of excitement

She smiled as she fell flat on the bed ,her joy knew no bounds her only obstruction is gone and things is about to get better for

She immediately call Alex he picked up almost immediately.

"Hey babe ,am coming over this night,send someone to pick me love you " she said and laughed .
