Chapter 4 Opposites Attract

Chapter Four -

Abigail forced herself to look away from Benjamin and Delilah's sexual encounter only gets more intimate. It felt wrong spying on them. Not to mention her marriage to Benjamin was fake, to begin with. She has no right to interfere with who he has sex with. Though she couldn't resist furthering her impression that Delilah is an even bigger whore than she thought. To get the "stone-cold Benjamin" wrapped around her finger is still quite impressive though.

"Stop."

Abigail turns around with surprise when she hears the single word and then sees Benjamin's fingers on Delilah's lips. There was that familiar, dead serious look in his deep blue eyes that always made Abigail's heart pound and flutter. "What part of the word engagement do you not understand? What happened between us was a fling. Nothing more. Nothing less." Abigail winced at the bluntness in Benajmin's words.

Ouch. Harsh...

And yet, Abigail couldn't help but grin with silent victory as Delilah gave a sour frown. She leaned off of him while glaring at him and brushed off her dress as if getting filth off of herself. "Asshole." she spat before spinning around and marching off.

Uh oh.

Abigail quickly turn around and run back to the party as quietly as possible before Delilah could round the corner and see that she was peeping on them. She scurried to the table that she was at earlier, now gingerly sipping on her drink from before.

"So."

The auburn-haired woman almost drops her drink when the sound voice behind her spooks her. And when she spins around, she sees Layla with her arms crossed and a bewildered expression. "L- Layla! Um, hi! How- how are you doing...?"

Layla stared at her as if trying to process what her friend had just said to her but instead, she just let it slide and went back to what she was wanting to say. "What the hell, Abigail? We're best friends! You've been dating that Benjamin dick for TWO years?! Abi!"

Abigail winces when Layla calls her by her old nickname. She hated lying to her closest friend too. But as badly as she wanted to tell her the truth, she knew she couldn't. "I'm sorry, Layla... you heard the man from yesterday, everybody hates him. I didn't want anybody to find out about our relationship until we were ready. Until I was ready."

My lie sounded very believable this time. Layla sighs while shaking her head then gives her a warm smile. "Well. I still wish you both a bright future. And lots of babies." she gives her friend a playful wink, making Abigail's cheeks flush.

"LAYLA!" Abigail embarrassingly snaps. Her friend's laugh eases when she looks behind Abigail, the woman forces a smile while giving a wave and walking away. It left Abigail confused until she realized someone had walked up behind her.

"Abi, huh?" comes Benjamin's voice behind her, making her spin around again and this time spill her drink a little bit. He lifts his brow with an expression that said "Really?"

Abigail rubs the back of her neck. "Uh... yeah, it's a nickname that my friends call me." once again, she struggled to have her green eyes meet his blue ones. The sound of her little nickname sliding off of his tongue brought another flutter to her chest.

Benji, huh?

She wanted to speak out his nickname too but right now, all she wants to do is forget about Delilah and the way she tried to seduce him. From the corner of her eye, Abigail could see that the blonde woman was already surrounded by a group of blushing men. Benjamin unexpectedly gives a tired sigh right before he wraps his arm around Abigail's waist firmly once again.

"Thank you all for your congratulations and good wishes, Abi and I greatly appreciate it and we'll be announcing the date of our wedding soon," Benjamin speaks to their guests with an actor's, charming grin. Everyone clapped and gave more praises meanwhile Abigail's body heat just increased when he called her by her nickname out loud. It sent her into another butterfly dimension to the point that Benjamin had to give her a few nudges to snap her out of it. "Abigail? Do you have anything you want to say?"

Abigail struggled to remember how to talk for a second there but soon took an inhale and smiled as well. "I know it's a real shock to many of you, believe me, I'm rather shocked myself." she laughed with the others since this is the biggest truth she's told throughout this whole celebration. Benjamin just adjusted his tie and purposely ignored her truthful joke. Abigail then looked up at the handsome man while putting her hand on his chest. "But we love each other very much, and we thought it would be important to share with our close friends and beloved ones," she says. And without thinking, she performs the act that proves their love as she stretches her neck up and connects her lips to his.

Most of everyone went "aww" while the only two people who looked grumpy and silently seethed were James and Delilah. Benjamin's body froze like a statue when she kissed him. The feeling of her warm, soft lips pressing up against his and her natural, sweet scent that followed made his acting completely wash down the drain because when Abigail leaned away from him, this was the first time she's ever seen a startled expression on his usually, serious face. His deep blue eyes were wide with his mouth partially gaped. Benjamin cleared his thought and was still clumsily stumbled with his words. "U- um, so, thank you again, the marriage, w- wedding, will be announced soon... thank you." Abigail couldn't help but give a mischievous smile to herself. It was very rare for the arrogant man to get thrown off balance and it made her feel pretty good about herself that she was the one that did that.

Afterward, even as they walked through the parking lot, they still held hands but walked in complete silence. It was nighttime, so the parking lot was mostly empty since everyone else parked on the other side of the lot. One of the closest cares Abigail did recognize was the expensive-looking yellow car that belonged to Delilah. Abigail's attention was snapped back to Benjamin as he lets out a weary sigh once we make it to his black Tesla.

"Listen... what happened earlier..." his voice trails off and Abigail's throat tightens.

Did I go too far?

Before Abigail could say anything, she sees a flash of lights from the yellow car being unlocked along with the clacking sound of high heels against concrete. Still bitter and looking for petty vengeance, without warning, Abigail leaned into Benjamin and kissed him again while wrapping her arms around the back of his neck. She could feel eyes burning into her back as she began to kiss him passionately. The moment she bit his lip, one of his hands flew down to her ass and gave a rough squeeze right as he pushed her back against his car and forced his tongue into her mouth. At that moment, she forgot all about the reason why she was doing this. Caught up in the moment, the only thing she could focus on was his firm grasp on her body. Their feverish kiss made her want to beg to take it to the next level.
