Dylan sure was taking his time to get me pissed. He made it obvious that he was getting back at me for what I had done. He complained of everything and I was getting sick. The embarassment was already enough for me. He complained of almost everything I did. And it was vivid that he was tormenting me for the fun if it. The saddist asshole knew what he was doing and knew I was getting beginning to loose my mind.
"You know what you're good at? Doing things wrong." He said in the middle of one of our arguments.
"What did I do wrong this time?"
"I'd be stupid before I give you an answer to that. I don't even know how Rudy seems to like you so much... Nothing entices me more than that?."
"What exactly is the problem you have with me, Mr Dylan?..." I had never called him Mr before. I never even addressed him directly. "Is it still about the other day at the shop? I had a bad day and you just go throwing things around."
"Oh, I don't give a damn about that day... Or you."
"Oh! Well, you were rude to me as well. You called me a bitch!"
I looked forward to a reply but he just kept quiet before he turned to me.
"Get to work, Nelly." Was all he said before pulling his headphones back on. I went into the kitchen with my head burning. I hated him so much now. Who the hell was he to toy with me like that. I'm sure he heard me kicking the cabinet.
In the evening, I came down the bus as usual. I was walking along when a black porsche drove past me. I made direct eye contact with the driver who was staring back at me. Since he wasn't looking away I looked away and continued walking before he drove off in full speed.
The next day at that same time, I see the same car again. This time it parked up at my way and I had to stop. A young man in suit came out to face me.
"Hello?" I called out first before he took off his sunshades.
"Hello, Miss Nelly. I have an important message for you."
I was forced to look back to make sure he was actually talking to me and not someone else.
"Do I know you?" I asked wondering how he knew my name.
"No you don't. My boss seeks to have a word with you." He points to the car but the windows were tinted so I couldn't even see anything.
"I think you got the wrong person and you're pretty much wasting my time." I was about going when the car door opened and a young man walked out slowly from the back seat. He was in a navy blue suit and he had sunshades on too. He walked round the car and stood infront of me. I was still trying to know what was going on and where all these was leading to.
"I would like us to talk, Miss..."
I wanted to know who he was and what he wanted with me. "I'd like to discuss something with you if you'd come with me." He pointed to his car
"I don't even know you. You think I'm just gonna hop into your car?" I was about leaving when he spoke.
"You have nothing to fear... Alright since you're not going to trust me let's sit over there and discuss." He pointed to a table at the front of a coffee shop. I decided to sit with him.
"I have a contract offer for you. Kelly."
"It's Nelly." I replied now really desperate to know why I was sitting here.
"Nelly."
"Contract offer? To what? Who are you even?"
"I believe you're not familiar with me. Pardon my bad manners by the way. What would you like to have?" He was about calling the waiter.
"I don't want anything. Sir, I asked you who you are."
"I'm Hugh... Hugh Raymond."
"Doesn't ring a bell."
"Will do. I need you to do a small but big work for me. How would you like to make four million dollars in two months?"
"What?" Honestly, I was kind of confused.
"I need you to act as my fiancée for that mean time."
"Why would I want to do that?"
"I'm a supposed heir to my father's company but in order to gain what's mine I have to show what according to my family is proper trait of a worthy son by having a woman beside me... And you are lucky enough... " He paused. "I have decided to chose you for the job."
"Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What? I'm sorry but this conversation and all this, " forming circles with my hand, "...is happening so fast that it all doesn't make sense to me. I'm sorry, I can't pretend to be someone's girlfriend."
I couldn't help but chuckle because it felt so ridiculous. "I'm sorry, I can't do it. I'm not doing this, maybe you should find someone else." That is if he was serious and this wasn't just some sort of prank being recorded in secret for some TV show or something.
"I can't find someone else for it. You're the one I want."
I paused and stared at him.
"I'll make it five. I mean the payment."
I was confused seeing how serious he actually was but I knew I wasn't doing any of what he said. He pushed a piece of paper to my side of the table.
"When you change your mind... Call this number." Did he just say 'when I change my mind?' And not 'incase I change my mind?' Who does he think he is?
"Let me know what you decide in seven days." Having said that, he stood up and left. I watched him till he got back into his vehicle and was zoomed off.
I picked the piece of paper from the table and stared at the phone number. What kind of strange and brief awkward meeting did I just have out of the blue? I stood up and hit my way home.
