Chapter 3 A Weak Mate

GILBERT KING

When Hade walked in, I knew the warriors must be back from human territory.

"Sir, I..."

I raised my hand, shutting him up. "What is the news?"

"We were able to..."

I turned and glared at him. "What is the news!!"

"We got them. I mean the girls"

I sighed and stood up, walking closer to him. I walked past him and held him by his neck, pressing him down. He groaned but stood firmly.

"How many times have I warned you to always go straight to the point when you want to speak to me? How many times have I warned you not to answer me with more than three words?"

I dipped my claws into his neck and he groaned.

"Gilbert?" my mom called and I turned. "What are you doing?". She walked closer to me. "Gilbert, get your hands off his neck" she yapped at me.

I pulled my claws out of his neck, and he fell to the ground. "Leave!" I ordered and he ran out of the room. "Why are you here?"I asked, staring at my hand filled with blood. I picked up a towel. "You did not tell me you were coming"

"Why did you almost kill him?"

"You have not told me why you are here"

"Then answer my question. Why did you almost kill him? He has been one of your most trusted guards for a..."

"He was guilty" I replied nonchalantly.

"Guilty of what? Guilty of speaking more than three words to you? Or guilty of not being straightforward with you?"

I groaned slightly and sat down. "Can you tell me why you are here?"

"Why have you not killed me yet? Do I not speak more than three words to you?"

I groaned. "You are my mother. Why would I attempt to kill you?"

She frowned. "Should you not consider..."

I groaned. "Mom! Can we talk about something else? Can we talk about why you are here?"

She sighed and sat down on the couch. "It's about your mate"

I waved my hand. "We are not talking about that"

"We have to talk about that. Gilbert, you are..."

I stood up from the bed. "I need to go now"

"Gilbert!" my mom called after me as I walked out of the room.

I ignored her and gestured to Hade waiting outside. He ran to me and bowed.

"Take me to where the captives are and go get yourself treated" I pointed at the wounds on his neck.

"Yes, sir" he muttered leading the way.

A few guards joined us on our way to the hall.

"The Alpha is here" Hade announced.

"Leave and get yourself treated" I muttered. "Make sure you get back before I leave this place," I told him and walked into the hall.

The guards bowed their heads as I walked past them. I stood promptly when I felt an unusual feeling. I stared at the young girl in front of me. I could feel my wolf jumping up happily and I frowned.

She is not my mate, right?

She looked up, staring at me. Our eyes got locked up for a while and I couldn't hide my surprise. I moved back a bit and punched the closet wall to me. I could hear the children yelling in fright but I wasn't bothered about it. I brushed my hair backward and groaned.

S-she is my mate!

A weak human like her is my mate. Not only is she a weak human. She is also a young girl and a captive. I punched the wall again and they flinched.

I stared at my injured hand and smiled. I pointed at her. "Lock her up in the cell with no food and water, until I say so"

She stared at me in shock. "W-what have I done wrong? W-what did I do?"

A guard dragged her up but another girl held his hand. "Leave my friend alone. Leave..."

The guard pushed the other girl backward and my suppose mate lunged at him. I was caught by surprise. Seeing how fearless and fierce she was, I could not help but wonder if she is stronger than I thought. I clicked my fingers together and two guards rushed to hold her. She kept dragging with them for a while before they were able to pin her down.

I moved closer to her. "What was that for?"

I had expected her to give me a reply but instead, she stared at me in fear. I furrowed my brows.

Where did all her courage go to?

She went down on her knees immediately clasping her plans together. "Please don't hurt my friend. You can do whatever you want to do to me but please spare my friend"

I stared at the friend who was already shaking.

I moved closer to her and bend down. I raised her head. "I can do anything I want to do to you for as long as I keep your friend save?". She nodded and I clutched her chin together. She whined in pain. "Do you want me to spare your friend?" She nodded again and I groaned.

Why did the moon goddess give me a mate like her after waiting for so long for a mate? I wondered. Am I being punished for some reason?

I released my grip on her and stood up. Staring at her friend, I noticed she was bleeding from her leg. Her friend must have noticed too because she placed her hand over it, ignoring the awkward atmosphere. I could not help but admire her kind out.

Why does she have to be a weak human? And why does she seem to have a double personality?

"What is your name?" I asked her friend.

"A-Alaila" she replied.

"And your friend's name?"

"Xavia"

I nodded. "You seem to hurt. When did you get hurt?"

"When I was trying to run..."

I stared at her. "When she was trying to run after me"

I had not expected her to pick up the courage to speak to me. I also did not expect that I some get angry at her for answering me with more than three words.

"Did you finally get your tongue back?" I found myself saying.

I stood up and gestured to one of the guards. "Take her to meet the nurse. She should be well taken care of. As for her, keep her in the room close to mine and feed her. Her friend can join her later on. Dispatch the rest of the girls to their appropriate places"

"Ok, Alpha"
