Marrying Clarissa was something I had never imagined. But Honestly, getting married to her was more profitable to me and my family than marrying Eloise, she was more successful than many ladies in East Delva, and having her join the Divit empire with her business skills was going to be a big win to the family.
But then, there was the soft spot I had for Eloise. I wouldn't completely say we were in love. We had a thing going on, but it wasn't certain. A few buddy calls here and there...ok, to be honest, a lot of buddy calls. But that didn't stop me from having other ladies. We both understood we were heading no where, until few months back, when our parents brought up the idea of marriage, and forced us into it.
On the day I heard Eloise was Kidnapped, I actually thought she ran away, I mean, who wouldn't want to run from an arranged marriage, I felt bad and kinda happy at the same time. Sad because, I honestly had some spot for Eloise, I guess I could say I cared for her little, and I was happy because the marriage wasn't going to hold since a marriage could not hold without a bride.
But I guess my dad didn't want my happiness to last long, and now I have no choice but to marry a lady who obviously detests me.
After my morning exercise, I got a call from Dad to come home as early as 9am, the Alexanders were coming to have breakfast with us, in other to make final conclusions for the wedding Tomorrow and I could use that opportunity to get to know my bride-to-be.
It was already past 8am, I had taken my bath and I was getting prepared. I wore a Silver satin two-piece cloth, and my white Jordan.
Few minutes to 9am, I was already in my father's house, waiting for the Alexanders to arrive. While I was talking with my mom at the balcony, I received a text message from Freda, my current buddy call for the past few weeks, she sent a message telling me she was in front of my father's house waiting for me.
Immediately, I ran out to go stop her so she didn't cause a scene.
"Follow me" I said as I held her hand and pulled her into my car.
"What the hell are you doing here? I said I'll call you, didn't I?" I asked in a harsh low tone, not wanting other persons around to hear us.
"Adriannn..., You haven't been picking my calls or replying my text messages, I miss you. Come here" she said as she dragged me into a kiss.
"Hey, hey, Freda, this has to stop. Am getting married tomorrow. Can't you get it?". I said as I broke free from her.
"Well that has never stopped us from having fun. We both know you don't love this bride of yours, and you are obviously doing this for your family, and besides, when did you start listening to your dad, so come on, I've missed you" she replied as she drew me back into a much more intense kiss. She forced her way into my mouth as she slipped Her tongue in.
The kiss became more and more intensive, but not for long, everything ended when my phone started buzzing.
"Don't embarrass me Adrian. Where the hell are you? The Alexanders are here already". My Mom warned as she ended the conversation.
"Freda, you've got to go, I'll call you when am done" I said as she walked her out of the house.
Upon walking in, I noticed that the Alexanders had already been seated, Clarissa was made to seat opposite me.
Immediately I sat down, her scent began to imprint itself in my head. She scented like Flowers, her hair was curly at it's end, her grey eyes shinning through her long lashes, with her red little-shinny lips. She was so beautiful.
I apologized for coming late and took my seat. I noticed she wasn't looking at me, but I didn't care, two could play the game. I concentrated on my food, but couldn't take my mind off that scent, there was something about it that got me hooked.
"Why don't we give the couple's some space to talk and know each other. I guess they would find something interesting about themselves" my dad said as we were almost done with dessert.
"Am sorry where's the restroom" Clarissa asked
"It's down the hallway by your right" my mom replied.
Everyone left the table in other to give I and Clarissa space to talk. While everyone had gone back into the living room, since we had the breakfast in the garden area, my dad walked back to me.
"Son don't mess this up. You know what's at stake. This marriage has to work as soon as possible. He reminded me again.
"Dad I know. You don't have to repeat it over and over again. You know I wouldn't do this if I didn't know it's necessity to the family, you should ensure you keep..."
"Excuse me? Hope I am not interrupting anything" Clarissa said as she took her seat.
"Mmmm, it's fine, it's nothing. You guys should have fun" my dad said as he went back into the house.
"It's obvious we both don't want this marriage, wedding-thing to hold. Why don't we find a way to end it now" Clarissa said as she poured herself some coffee into the coffee mug.
"Do we have a choice. I am ready to get married to you. I can do anything for my family." I replied.
"Even at your own detriment? Adams or Aidan, whatever your name is, I can't do this. Just like you, I love someone else, I don't want you, it's that simple. Besides I saw you and your girlfriend in the car doing God knows what, it's obvious we both don't want this. We can come up with a plan and end this thing right now".
I couldn't believe she actually saw me and Freda, plus she had feelings for someone else. Honestly I didn't care, she could have as much lovers as she liked, besides I wasn't a saint after all.
"It's simple. We can get married, and make it an open marriage. You can see whoever you want, and I can do the same too. There's nothing I can do for you right now. And if you have nothing else than this, I guess There's a Wedding" I said as I stood up and walked out on her.
Many ladies could kill to be in this position right now, but I wonder what Clarissa thought herself to be. She couldn't marry me? Because she had someone else? She didn't want me?. Then we were getting married. She was getting interesting.
