Chapter 5 The Scars

As Gunner stopped the door from closing, Irene's eyes widened. I had a feeling! It's not good to play with my crazy husband, she thought to herself.

"It's better to sleep after a bath," Gunner's cunning smile as he enters the bathroom.

"Then take a bath first--"

Gunner grabbed Irene and leaned against the wall before she could finish her sentence. "It would be much better if you could accompany me..."

Irene sighed when she felt the heat of Gunner's breath in her ear. " Gunner..."

"I love hearing my name with your alluring voice..." Gunner said, sliding his middle finger from her neck to her shoulder.

Irene bit her lips to stop the moan, but it only increased Gunner's desire.

"Your flustered expression turns me on..."

Gunner's fingers playing on the shoulder rose to lift Irene's bowed face.

"I want you, Irene Evans Greystorm..."

He's telling the truth ... I can see the lust in his eyes and if I look in the mirror now, I'm sure my eyes tell the same!

Gunner's lips ... It's so kissable ...

Irene's long wait is over when Gunner's lips gently brush against hers. It's very gentle... Every corner of the lips is tasted.

And it was a surprise to Irene; she had not expected Gunner to be gentle... Her husband is a ruthless assassin and the ruler of the Underworld, so Irene was surprised by his gentleness.

"Undress me..." Gunner said in between kisses.

Hypnotized by the kiss, Irene's hands rose and unbuttoned Gunner's long sleeves.

And it didn't end there ... Seeing his bare chest, Irene rubs her finger on it, the reason for Gunner to lose his way of thinking.

The gentle kiss was impulsive and inquisitive to which Irene responded with the same feeling.

Gunner's hands started to move down Irene's neck... until it came across the robe's strap.

"Ahh ..." Irene screams in pleasure as Gunner's tongue bursts inside her mouth, his hand lining each curve of her body.

Yet when Gunner touched Irene's scar, she was startled and trembled. The lust that had been enveloping her at that point disappeared.

No! I can't live in my past! That is long gone! Irene reminded herself that the torture she experienced from the people who kidnapped her is not easy to forget.

She attempts to push that emotion away and keep her attention on Gunner's kiss and touch, but she doesn't expect him to pause.

Gunner signed as he kissed Irene's forehead. It almost kills him from stopping but he will kill himself if he continues.

Gunner felt Irene's shiver so he stopped.

Irene was puzzled when Gunner turned her and opened the shower.

Gunner removed the robe Irene was wearing so the scar was exposed to him. He gently rubs and kisses it.

"Does it still hurt?" Gunner's voice was gentle. Before he asked Lucia to find a way to remove it but Irene did not want to show her body to anyone.

"It heals..." Irene responded with a soft voice. Although the wound has long since healed, the harm it caused to her life is still evident. The scar is the same. It will always leave a mark on her.

"I promise to remove this scar from your life ..." Gunner whispered and back hugged Irene.

Irene couldn't say anything. She never imagines that Gunner is aware of her misery. They never get the chance to be close for the fast year. Irene cut herself off from him, preventing them from getting to know each other.

It marked the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of Gunner and Irene. The latter has become more vocal in her feelings.

But since Gunner is busy with his work as a mafia boss and a CEO, Irene doesn't have a choice but to talk to Raven from time to time.

Raven is the only person with a clean background so for Irene, he is the only normal person in Gunner's life.

"Raven, I'm bored ..." one time Irene said while talking on the phone.

"Ha Ha Ha! I thought I wouldn't hear that from you!" Raven responds teasingly.

"Hmm, I'm waiting for Gunner to ask me out but he never did! Your brother is too busy with his profession and probably partying with another superstar!" she exclaims. Irene is inevitably jealous because of the news online. But she couldn't tell Gunner, so she just complained to Raven.

"Come on, we know my brother ... He will never cheat on you ..." Raven responds laughing. "And with your boring life, the solution is very easy ... Why don't you ask Gunner?"

Because she hadn't asked Gunner since then, Irene was astounded. Irene looked back and spotted the man who was the topic of their conversation. "Raven, I'll call you later ... bye." She did not wait for his response.

"You're early ..." Irene asked when Gunner came to her.

"Who's that?" Instead of answering Irene asked. Despite the fact that he is already aware of the caller.

"Oh, it's Raven ..." Irene replied. "Are you busy? Can I speak with you for a moment, please?"

Gunner turns to hide the annoyance, "What is it?" he asked as he walked into his office.

Irene was nervously following Gunner. "The holiday is approaching-"

"I don't do holidays..." Gunner interrupted what Irene was about to say.

Irene's smile vanished, and she was replaced by sadness. She assumed that because their relationship had changed, Gunner would agree, but she was mistaken.

"Can you make some exceptions this year? I've been missing my family and the things we're doing right now..." Irene asks, her eyes welling up.

Gunner locks his gaze on Irene. He came home because he missed her so much, but when he saw Irene laughing while talking to Raven on the phone, he became enraged.

Gunner has never been jealous in his life... just now! And the worst part is with his brother!

"Please," Irene begged.

"Let me think about it..." signed Gunner. Gunner's cold and hard heart softened when he saw Irene's cat-eye pleading with him.

Irene couldn't help but wrap her arms around Gunner. "Thank you," she says softly as she kisses him on the cheek.
