Chapter 5 Cinema

"We are here ma'am,'' the cab driver said to me.

Uh, uh yeah thanks "I said, "blinking my eyes as I went down from the car.

It's my pleasure ma'am ``and'' you have a nice bone structure the cab driver "said, before zooming off.

Wait, what? Has he been watching me while I slept? "Things keep getting worse,'' I said, "to myself while nodding my head sideways.

Walking to the front door I rang the doorbell since "I had forgotten my spare key today.

Hey mum, "I said, smiling as the door flung open.

Hey honey, "get inside and how was your day?'' she said, patting my head.

It was fairly bearable, " I said, slouching onto the couch.

"Tell me about it,'' she said, sitting down in front of me.

Uurrgh mum, "I'll tell you later I'm famished,'' I said, groaning.

Yeah, okay then, "Microwave the mashed potatoes before eating it Mum said, leaving me all alone.

So, "You wanna leave me here? I shouted.

Yeah, "so go eat your food and get ready for the cinema, "she said, before closing the door to her room.

After "I finished eating my lunch'' I headed to my room. "Using my leg to shut the door, "I went straight to my laptop, lifting the screen. I pressed the power button before I connected it to my phone.

"After I was done with my laptop I jumped onto my bed". A quick nap wouldn't hurt, I said before dozing off.

"Rin? wakeup and get ready for the cinema, " Mum said, knocking on the door.

"Sure Mum, "I said grumbling out of my bed.

"I give you 15 minutes to meet me outside, "she said walking away from the door.

Going to my wardrobe, "I picked out a black tank top and a leather jacket, removing the turtleneck and replacing it with the new tee shirt I brought out.

"Wearing my boots I ran downstairs and out of the front door where Mum was".

"I'm ready mum," I said standing beside her.

"Make sure you lock the door, our ride is over there,'' she said, scrolling through her phone.

"Done that already! "I said, tagging behind her with my hands in my pocket.

"Our drive to the cinema was quite awkward" the lesbian driver trying to grab mums attention.

"At the cinema" after getting our tickets and some snacks we settled down to watch.

"Halfway through the movie, we had already run out of snacks.

"We ended up laughing at how we found our snacks more interesting".

Don't get me wrong, the movie was great, "it is just that we've never been a fan of movies, "we were better off with our book up in the attic back home in Toronto.

"I had gone outside to ease myself and also I had gone to refill our snacks: two big bowls of popcorn,4 munch it, and one Coke and one Sprite," I said, smiling at the lady behind the counter.

"I grabbed our snacks and headed back to the theatre".

Why are you late? Mum said, "Snatching the popcorn from my hand.

"No, I wasn't late,'' I said, pouting my lips.

"Yes, you were, she argued.

Okay "whatever you say but I don't even know why we needed the refills. The movie is almost over. I said folding my arms above my chest.

Sssshhh baby, "you are gonna miss the best part honey, "she said, forcing a popped corn into my mouth.

"Yeah, "yeah I said, grumbling.

By the time we were done with the movie, "it was past 10 pm and we had a ride waiting for us outside". We had a great time. It was the first time in years since we had gone to the cinema alone, we always went with Daddy.

Mum, look over there I said, eyes widening in realization.

Where? She asked in a hushed tone stretching her neck.

"That black Hyundai looks familiar, "I said, running my hand through my hair and pushing the fallen strands back.

Uh, holy Christ, "you scared me, it could be our neighbor's car,'' she said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Our neighbor's car following me everywhere? I said frowning.

"Rin you are overthinking this, "Mum said, dragging me to our ride.

The car stopped in front of our house, lighting the car and heading for the door. "I stopped when I saw a figure running down the street, shrugging my shoulders and tagging behind Mum.

"Something doesn't feel right starting from Mrs. Bergen and I'm gonna find out.

"Slamming the entrance door closed and walking over to the dinner mum where mum was already seated".

"So are you gonna tell me what happened in school today? "She said, tapping her foot on the floor.

Nothing just got into an argument with a guy "I said snorting.

Is he causing too much trouble? "Do you need me to inform the school authority? "Mum said in a serious tone.

" Well not really it's not anything I can't take care of by myself," I said, knowing fully well that I wasn't telling her the whole truth I left out Tatiana and Mrs. Bergen, I couldn't afford to bother her with my problems.

If you say so, "but don't hesitate to tell me if things are beyond your control, '' she said sarcastically while rolling her eyes.

About that gift card guy, has he called, I asked, changing the topic.

No, he hasn't. "I tried calling but his number was switched off. I've dropped him a message anyways,'' she said sadly.

"He'll be fine,'' I said, giving her a reassuring smile.

"I hope so and goodnight baby,'' she said, heading to her room.

Good night Mum, I said as I headed to the sitting room to get my phone.

"On getting to the sitting room I went to the place I remembered dropping my phone but it wasn't there running to my room I emptied my drawers but still, nothing and my laptop was gone too how could this happen I said panicking.

"Rushing over to mum's room" Hey mum have you seen my phone I yelled standing outside beads of cold sweat running down my spine.

No honey I haven't, are you okay? She said, opening the door with a worried expression on her face.

Yeah, I'm fine, "I must have misplaced it somewhere in my room, I said, becoming light-headed.

Are you sure? "She asked, looking at me intently.

Yes, I'm sure I said retreating to my room.

Who did this? Could it be who I was thinking? I'll find out tomorrow I said, "changing into my pajamas and laying down on my bed".

Unknown Location

Vincent could be seen in the pool of his own blood, his cruel boss had buried a bullet just in between his eyes. Vincent wasn't a saint either, "he killed for a living so now it was his time to go rot in the abyss where he shall pay for his sins.

Marcus!!! The boss yelled, lighting up a cigarette.

Yes, boss? Marcus, "his right-hand man said entering the office".

"Get rid of this nuisance before I come back,'' the boss said, jumping the body and walking out of the office.

Marcus, "who had been standing there with a neutral expression, "did well to hide the disgust on his face. "His boss was gradually spiraling out of control with his recent killing spree and it might lead them into the hands of the cobs.

"Send the maids in, ''Marcus said to the phone before going out and coming back with a body bag.

AT A BAR

Why didn't you tell me you were close to the house? I almost got caught, the figure said, sitting down opposite the other person.

I thought you were supposed to be a professional thief, the other person said, nonchalantly.

And I thought you were in charge of time management. If you weren't my sister I would have driven a knife into your throat.

Shut up Elena, the other person said.

So Helena, "How much are we gonna make from these? She said, referring to the laptop and the phone resting on the table.

"Our customer is paying 35,000 dollars for it,'' Helena said, lighting up a cigarette and stuffing the goods into a bag.

Holy cow Elena screamed what is so special about these she said with eyes gesturing at good.

Uhuh, "keep it low Helena said, "puffing out the smoke.

We can save mum's life now Elena said smiling at her twin sister through teary eyes.

"Come hug me, "Helena said, to her twin sister.

"Let's get out of this place, "Elena said, pulling herself out of Helena's tight grip.
