Part 6

Alexander Xavier, a 28-year-old man whose real name is Alexander Xavier Verga. Both of his parents, Edwin Verga and Monica Verga, passed away when he was 10 years old, precisely 18 years ago, due to suicide.

Since then, Alexander has been living with his uncle and aunt in America. His uncle is Edward Verga, and his aunt is Ruby. He was raised with love and affection, especially when he grew up and showed talent and ambition to become an entrepreneur.

Alexander is quite different from Jessica and Justine, who have no interest in the family business. His uncle and aunt helped him start his own business four years ago.

This handsome man convinced himself to establish a business to fulfill his plan for revenge against the 'Charles Dominic' family. However, Alexander is unaware of what actually happened 18 years ago. According to Uncle Edward and Aunt Ruby, the reason for his parents' suicide was corruption committed by the financial manager, none other than Charles Dominic.

Since learning about this, Alexander has been determined to seek revenge. He wants Charles Dominic to experience what his parents went through.

Four years have passed, and Alexander's company, 'Love Sky Industries,' which focuses on outdoor furniture production, has grown rapidly. Its products are exported to various countries in Europe and America. But he doesn't stop there. With financial support from his uncle and aunt, Alexander successfully opened several upscale restaurants with Korean, American, and Singaporean themes, which have been thriving due to his perseverance.

Currently, Alexander is planning the construction of a hotel as part of his revenge plan. He is confident about his mission of vengeance.

**

Alexander arrived home at 4:11 in the evening, accompanied by his secretary, Tommy. However, Jennifer did not greet his arrival.

"Bring Jennifer here!" Alexander ordered.

"Mrs Jennifer hasn't returned yet, Sir," the servant replied.

Alexander became annoyed and wanted to shout, but the servant whispered, "Mr. Edward and Mrs. Ruby have arrived; they are waiting for you, Sir!"

Alexander clenched his fists, suppressing his anger within.

He reached for his phone and called the bodyguards who were keeping an eye on Jennifer.

The call connected. "Where are you?" Alexander asked.

"We are still at the bookstore, Sir," came the reply.

"Come back immediately!" Alexander commanded.

"Yes, Sir!"

Click! The call ended.

--

Since arriving at Jennifer's bookstore, she had been searching for a way to find newspapers from the 2000s without encountering Brandon directly. Meeting Brandon was not possible. Apart from reopening old wounds, Alexander would never allow it.

By two in the afternoon, she should have left the bookstore. Her two guards had reminded her several times. However, Jennifer was still reluctant, as her curiosity about her husband's background and the events from 18 years ago were truly troubling her mind.

"Mrs, it's already two; we must go home now!" the man in black asked Jennifer.

"Just a moment, can't you see I'm busy with this call log?" Jennifer showed him her notebook.

"But, Mrs, Mr. Alexander ordered you to be home before two, and it's already past two!" the man explained.

"Wait a moment!" Jennifer said firmly and went back to her office.

She instructed Rena not to allow the guards to disturb her.

Time flew, and it was already four o'clock. Jennifer closed her notebook and put away her phone. Her efforts were in vain as there seemed to be no other way to obtain the newspaper she needed, except to seek help from Brandon's company.

Jennifer turned the key and left her office.

Her two guards were waiting at the front door.

"Mrs, you must go home now; Mr. Alexander has already arrived," the man said.

"Are you serious?" Jennifer furrowed her brow. She realized she had made a mistake.

"Yes, Mrs, he just called to inquire about you," he explained.

"Okay, let's go home now!" Jennifer agreed, walking towards Rena.

"I'll call you later," Jennifer whispered as she grabbed her sling bag.

Rena nodded and waved goodbye to her boss.

Inside Jennifer's car, she was already anxious. She was thinking of several reasons to save herself from Alexander's wrath.

"When did Alexander arrive home?" Jennifer asked one of her guards.

"He just arrived, Mrs., but Mr. Edward and Mrs. Ruby have been home since 2 PM," the man explained.

"How is this!" Jennifer began to feel confused.

"Calm down, Mr. Alexander won't be angry with his new wife," replied the clueless Bodyguard.

Jennifer forced a smile; Alexander seemed kind and attentive in front of others. But when they were alone, he turned into a lion ready to pounce and dominate her as he pleased.

"Mrs Jennifer, we're almost there," said the driver sitting behind the wheel.

Jennifer nodded, straightening her hair and clothes.

The car entered the main gate and stopped at the terrace. Hesitant, Jennifer stepped out of the car and quickly entered the house as the door was open. There, she saw Alexander sitting with his uncle and aunt.

"Uncle Edward, Auntie Ruby, I'm sorry I'm late," greeted Jennifer, shaking their hands and kissing their backs.

"It's alright, dear," Ruby understood.

Jennifer gave a smile to the woman and then sat beside Alexander, who didn't even look at her.

"Alexander didn't ask you to work, did he?" Ruby asked, surprised.

"No, Auntie, I just missed my workplace," Jennifer honestly replied.

"Rest for now, and later we'll have dinner together!" the woman instructed.

"Alright, Auntie," Jennifer replied.

Jennifer gathered the courage to hold Alexander's hand. "Darling, you should take a shower too!" she whispered.

Alexander looked down and complied when Jennifer pulled his hand, leading him upstairs to his room. It was true what Auntie Ruby said, "The one at fault is Charles Dominic, not Jennifer. The girl doesn't know anything, and it's not fair for her to bear the brunt of his anger."

Nevertheless, Alexander still despised Jennifer.

Jennifer opened the door to her room and gently released Alexander's hand from her grasp.

"Darling, I apologize for coming home late," Jennifer whispered softly.

"Yes, I know you came home late. Why were you late?" Alexander asked flatly.

"I got too engrossed in arranging the new comics and books that just arrived!" Jennifer lied.

"Alright, this time I forgive you, but don't let it happen again!" Alexander stated, still contemplating his aunt's advice.

For a moment, Jennifer felt puzzled. Alexander didn't scold her as expected.

**

Jennifer performed her duties, preparing warm water, a change of clothes, and ensuring there were no cockroaches in the bathroom.

"Darling, the water is ready!" Jennifer said as she walked out of the bathroom.

Alexander walked into the bathroom, making sure to close and lock the door.

Jennifer took this opportunity to secretly open Alexander's phone, intending to find out more about the man. However, her efforts were in vain. There wasn't a single photo saved in his phone gallery.

Jennifer put the slim gadget back. She sighed in frustration. She then scanned the room and her eyes fell on Alexander's work bag, with the laptop he always carried everywhere. Jennifer was tempted to open it secretly, but she refrained.

Click! The bathroom door opened. The handsome man came out, and the scent of his soap filled Jennifer's nose.

Alexander put on his clothes. Jennifer remained silent, waiting.

"Do you want to take a shower or just stare at me like that?" Alexander asked.

"Who's staring at you? I was just lost in thought!" Jennifer retorted. Since Alexander's rough treatment, Jennifer had decided to be more natural. She wouldn't express her love too excessively.

"Just admit it! I am handsome! That's what made you agree to marry me, right? Because I'm handsome!" Alexander said confidently as he looked at his own reflection in the mirror.

Jennifer closed her eyes. She realized that Alexander was overly self-assured and confident. She had known him for five months and thought that was enough to understand everything about her husband. She was wrong!

"Why are you staying quiet?" Alexander protested.

"Um..." Jennifer murmured.

"So, what made you agree to marry me?" Alexander asked.

"I should be the one asking. Why did you suddenly appear on the bridge that day when I was there?" Jennifer countered.

The woman remembered the bitter moments of betrayal by Brandon. Suddenly, Alexander appeared and kept showing up wherever she went – at the cafe, in the mall, at the bookstore, everywhere. It was as if they were destined to meet again and again! Jennifer didn't realize that their meetings were carefully planned by Alexander.

"Take a quick shower! Uncle Edward and Auntie Ruby are waiting for us in the dining room!" Alexander redirected the conversation.

Jennifer obeyed and went to take a shower. Twenty minutes were enough for Jennifer to shower, change clothes, and complete her skincare routine.

"Let's go downstairs and call Alexander," she urged and walked ahead. Jennifer followed behind him. However, unexpectedly, at the bottom of the stairs, Alexander was waiting for Jennifer.

Without seeking approval from his wife, Alexander took Jennifer's hand and led her to the dining room.

Uncle Edward and Auntie Ruby smiled as they saw them.

They all sat down and began to eat the dishes prepared by the servants. Jennifer chose to eat rice and Indonesian dishes, as she didn't have the appetite for Western cuisine like Alexander and the others who preferred sandwiches.

"We have prepared your honeymoon tickets," Ruby said with a smile.

Jennifer returned the smile, but inwardly, she knew that Alexander hadn't offered or mentioned anything about a honeymoon since the wedding planning until now. He was more preoccupied with his latest hotel construction project.

"Alexander! Don't say you don't want a honeymoon! You can work hard, but don't forget to make your wife happy!" Ruby said, staring sharply at Alexander.

"Yes," Alexander replied flatly. From a young age, Alexander always obeyed Ruby, treating her like a mother he respected.

Jennifer fed herself the last spoonful of rice, drank water, and finished her dinner.

Ruby and Edward began to share their experiences of a two-day vacation in Bali. They mentioned their two children, Jessica and Justine, who didn't want to come back yet and were still enjoying their vacation on the island.

Jennifer's phone rang. It was a call from Rena.

"Uncle Edward, Auntie Ruby, I'll excuse myself for a moment. I have a call from one of my employees," Jennifer said, finding a reason to escape from the boring conversation. Although Ruby seemed nice, Jennifer felt there was something off about the woman.

"Oh, sure," Ruby replied.

Jennifer walked upstairs, leaving Alexander and the two of them behind.

"Jennifer looks very sincere with you," Ruby remarked. Meanwhile, her husband Edward remained silent and busy with his phone.

Alexander nodded.

"I just want to remind you not to be too harsh on her. No matter what happened to your parents, it's not her fault. It's Charles Dominic's fault!" Ruby explained. Initially, Ruby seemed indifferent, but after talking to and observing Jennifer up close, she felt sorry for the girl if she became Alexander's outlet for anger. Ruby knew very well what kind of character Alexander had.

"Yes, I see!" Alexander replied.

**

Jennifer arrived in her room. She called Rena back.

The call connected.

"Hello, Rena," she greeted.

"Hello, Ren," Jennifer replied.

"I contacted Mr. Brandon earlier, and he can help as long as you go to him personally," Rena said.

"Have you pleaded or tried another way?" Jennifer asked.

"Yes, but it seems he only wants to help if you meet him," the woman stated firmly.

"Alright, tell Brandon I will make time to meet him soon!" Jennifer instructed.

"Okay, good night," Rena said.

"Good night," Jennifer replied.

The phone call ended, and Jennifer placed the phone down. She looked back at the A4 paper beside her wardrobe. Finally, she had an idea to find out what Alexander's true feelings were towards her. Before getting married, it was evident that Alexander was deeply in love with her. But after the wedding, everything turned gray – his changed behavior, his love, and his harsh nature. Jennifer had to find out everything.

She put the paper back and walked to her wardrobe, selecting one of the nightgowns lined up inside. She pushed aside the bright and red ones, knowing that Alexander liked black. Her choice fell on a dark-colored lingerie, with a peignoir model that extended down to her ankles, adorned with lace and slightly transparent.

Yes, tonight Jennifer would follow the post-marriage rule Alexander gave her: "Dress sexily at night and offer to serve first." Alexander could show his arrogance, but he could also reveal his naughty side!

Jennifer posed in front of the mirror, making sure to wear Alexander's favorite perfume.

Click! The bedroom door opened. Alexander entered the room without knocking. He briefly glanced at Jennifer before shifting his gaze elsewhere.

"You're not sleeping yet?" Alexander asked stiffly. He sat on the edge of the bed, leaning against two pillows.

Jennifer didn't answer. She stepped closer to Alexander and stood right beside her husband.

"I have something to ask you," Jennifer said.

"What?" Alexander pretended to be busy with his phone. Jennifer's scent was truly tickling his nose.

Jennifer purposely dropped the pen that was in the drawer. She knelt, facing Alexander intentionally.

She noticed how Alexander stole glances at her. Then, she turned around, climbed onto the bed, and lay down beside her husband.

"I have a question for you. Do you love me?" Jennifer whispered into Alexander's ear while pressing her chest against his arm.

Alexander swallowed hard; his lascivious mind started to wander. His breathing became heavy, and Jennifer managed to tempt him with just a single touch.
