Chapter 8 Eight

"Are you sure you're ready?" Leon inquired as he noticed Celine approaching him. She wore plain jeans with a tank top and a leader jacket. For Leon's eyes, it was both too simple and too beautiful.

Celine can't stop smiling and nodding at the same time. It's her first outing since she married Leon, and it's also their first outing together.

"Then let's go," Leon said as he supported Celine's walk with his arms.

"Hmm, it looks like getting drunk is the best way for you to agree to my request..." Celine made a remark as she walked alongside Leon.

"I will advise you not to do this again because the next time I see you getting drunk, different things might happen..." Leon's response was meaningful as he opened the car door.

Celine sighed, but the joy in her eyes was still visible. If the rogue doesn't show up, he's not Leon Bridgerton... she mutters to herself.

Leon decided to take Celine to the riverside park. Normally, a large number of people walk here, but Leon decided to make some changes for this occasion. To ensure Celine's safety, he had his man clean the premises.

"Wow! The same as in Cambridge..." Celine marvelled as she gazed at the park, which was illuminated by the lights on the poles and the colourful lights on the trees.

They walked in the middle of the night in silence... They didn't say anything until they got to the bench next to the river.

"When I was a kid, my parents took me to the park in our town..." Celine began to tell her story while staring into space. "Back then, life was simple... But we're happy and satisfied with what we have."

Celine is opening up about her past and parents for the first time, so Leon listens intently until she finishes.

"You seem to have had a happy childhood..." As he took Celine's hand, Leon expressed his envy.

"Yeah, even though I'm an only child, my childhood was happy..." Celine nodded and turned to face Leon. "How about you?" Luke's stories are all she knows about her husband.

Leon isn't ready to tell his story yet, so he gets up and says, "Nothing much to talk about... my childhood is boring."

"Hmm, Luke told me that you are his idol..." Celine says this with a big smile on her face.

"I had no idea you and Luke were discussing me. But remember, my brother is unaware of my other identity, so be cautious of the story you want to tell," Leon stated solemnly.

Celine was taken aback when she heard the threat in Leon's tone. Right, I almost forgot who I'm talking to right now... "Don't worry, we talk about things like normal people do..."

Because Leon's gentleness had vanished, the wind seemed to blow differently. That's why their night began so well and ended so abruptly, something Celine pondered.

Celine and Leon are on their way home, but the latter is deafeningly quiet, which Celine finds astonishing.

What went wrong this time? Celine asked herself angrily.

"It's late, so go back to sleep," Leon said as the car came to a stop in front of the house.

Celine frowned as Leon didn't come down the stairs. "Where are you going?" she inquired, looking at her wristwatch. It's twelve o'clock in the evening, and she has no idea where Leon could go at this hour.

"Work." Leon's brief response before dismissing Celine.

"I cannot believe it... What went wrong this time?! He even used his swing to beat a woman!" Celine complained and came into the house. Leon Drake Bridgerton will never be understood by those who have graduated and majored in psychology!

"I'm sorry, sir, but we are very close at the moment..." Leon was about to enter when the guard at the door stopped him.

Leon is not in a good mood, so his gaze is fixed on the guard's hand gripping his chest.

"Get your hands on me if you don't want to die," Leon's voice was quiet, but authority could hear it.

Before speaking, the guard quickly removed his hand and sneezed. "As I previously stated, you are not permitted to enter, so get out of here before I call an associate!"

Leon exploded, moved quickly, and the guard was unconscious on the floor in the blink of an eye. The majority of eyewitnesses were shocked and terrified, but a few groups approached and intervened.

"Hello, you! "How dare you to attack the guard!"

Leon turns to face the group. He recognizes the group as belonging to a wealthy family. "Back off if you don't want to sleep like this guard," said Leon calmly.

The ground, however, did not listen and circled Leon. "A vicious person like you is not welcome in this place!" exclaims one of the group.

Then the commotion began, and Leon was at the epicentre of it. One of the ten people has rushed over to him... But the number of them didn't bother Leon because he dodged every punch and kick from his opponent.

"What the heck is going on here!" The group, which is now bleeding, comes to a halt when they see the owner of the voice. "How dare you mess with my territory!"

"Brother, he started it!" We just gave him a lesson after he punched the guard." As he explained to the newcomer, one of Leon's opponents trembled.

The newcomer approached Leon. Because he is facing the other direction, the man cannot see his face. "You! "Can you tell me who owns this place?"

Leon hid a handkerchief in his pants and wiped his fist with his opponents' blood. "The Bridgerton clan..." he responds, a cunning smirk on his face.

"Ha, ha, ha!" Are you insane? "As I recall, my boss's name is Sorem!" the man replied sarcastically.
