Chapter 3 LORI

LORI POV.

I was on my bed, thinking of how I could generate money to pay for my rent. I would have loved to borrow from the guy I met at the bar yesterday, Dickson, but I was not ready to give out my body for it. I knew he would demand my body in exchange for cash and I was not ready for anything like that until I meet the right man.

A knock at my door snapped me out of my thoughts. I quickly wiped off my tears. I knew it could be Vee. She was the only person that could check up on me by this time of the day and I didn't want to appear weak before her. She doesn't like to see me in a Moody appearance especially now that I was crying.

"Hello, Vee," I greeted, trying to hide my emotion as she entered carrying bags full of groceries and wearing a broad smile.

"What got you so happy?" I asked, noticing her exuberant demeanor and the plethora of treats in her arms.

" I received my paycheck today and went shopping for you and the house," Vee said before she added, "Guess what?",

" Vee, you know I am very poor when it comes to guessing so just tell me whatever you have in mind," I asked studying her face maybe I could get the source of her joy but it remained blank to me. The only time I know Vee could be this happy was when she is paid her salary. She had her salary already so I don't know what else could make her so happy as this.

She cleared her throat playfully and said,

"Our billionaire Boss came to one of his shopping malls where I work today. "Lori he is incredibly handsome!" Vee exclaimed in excitement.

"I'm glad you got paid and were able to grab some things. What else did you find out about this 'handsome' billionaire owner?" I inquired, amused by Vee's fascination.

"Well, I've heard he's a billionaire playboy who owns most of the state. Women are vying for his attention left and right. Yet, he commands employees to receive their due pay and even has a child with him who is equally charming and adored by his father," she explained, admiration lacing her tone.

"That is quite impressive. Did you find anything for me on your shopping expedition?" I asked, eager to see the goodies she had brought back.

"Of course! And don't worry, Lori, your luck will change too soon," she reassured me, prodding me to share my worries.

"I'm just concerned about my rent. I have only one week left to pay, and my landlord is pressuring me to sleep with him if I can't pay," I confided, shuddering at the thought.

"That sounds terrible! But don't lose hope" Vee said as she was unveiling her goodies.

" Well, I heard my billionaire boss talking about hiring a nanny to take care of his cute son," Vee said as she was still picking out the goodies from her bag.

I heard her well, but I think I don't need it. All work I can take but not as serving as another person's mother all in the name of a nanny so I didn't bother asking her about the nanny vacancy.

"He promised to pay 3000$ per week to whosoever is chosen and she must stay with his son always" Vee added causing my heart to thump to race.

"3000$ per week?" I asked paying more attention to her. If I heard her right and it could be true, then serving as a nanny in her Billionaire boss's house is far better than working as an accountant for him. No white-collar job would pay such a magnificent amount to their workers, maybe her billionaire boss loves and adores his son as Vee said. Anyways, I think I need to know more about this.

"So what are the requirements needed to be chosen as the nanny?" I asked and looked away.

" You acted as if you never wanted it, Lori," Vee said curling her lips in disgust and making me shy.

"I am only moved by the huge amount of money that would be paid" I responded and swung my tongue at her.

" Anyways, my boss said a friendly lady, not you who always gets annoyed easily with people," Vee said and gulped.

" Dickson called me today to ask if we can have a date by tomorrow, I am still doubting if I would go," I said, rubbing my fingers all through my head.

" Why won't you go? You don't want to be a nanny, you don't want a boyfriend, and you don't want to have a date what else do you like, Lori? You must go for the date tomorrow and tell him about your jobless situation" Vee scoffed.

I sighed as her words hit hard on me, I think I should go and see what he has to offer me.

" Then I will come to your mall for the first time tomorrow if I eventually get a job from Dickson," I said in a surprised tone.

"You? Until I see you before I can believe you, Lori" Vee said and snorted.

I looked at Vee somewhat upset by her words but it was the plain truth. I threw my pillow at her painfully before examining the goodies she bought for me.
