Chapter 5 Cosmo and Wanda

5. Cosmo and Wanda

Wanda POV

It's been so long since I could finally stretch my paws this way. Ah, yes, spring is around the corner. Shaking my fur, I skip myself from the gardens of this castle. I'm on my way to the grand palace of Queen Selene. She always hides in her dark library, with everything in the dark. The moon goddess is a bit wired like that. I was taking my wolf paws up on a maid walking by when my tail started to swing around, hitting on the servant who had biscuits. After a while, I made her drop her tray, and dropping down; I began eating them when I heard the maid huff, "You goofing idiot wolf! Those were for the Queen!" My eyes grew swollen.

Mother was going to get me hard for this one. Lowering my ears, I smile at her with my fluffy brow hair. I look like a drunk wolf, but it was cute, right? The maid won't hate me if I'm pretty.

The maid stands cleaning her maid uniform, glaring at me like I deserve a newspaper scolding: 'Wanda, come. I get the mind link of Mother, my ears stand to run through the castle, getting the maid in, hitting the wall hard, and I bark to announce I'm on my way. The doors to the library are closed, and I run with my shoulder to hit the door when it opens out of nowhere, to which I instead hit Cosmo, a gray wolf who is the source of my living misery here in the castle.

From my impact, we roll on the floor, asking, What did you do that for!' Cosmo shouts in annoyance, and I growl at him, little shithead. He looks at me with his dumb gray-haired face, his tongue on the side of his open mouth, and I wonder why I haven't bit his neck off again today. I get up behind him and start scratching my ear, which always makes me blow my nose. And that's precisely what I did. This always makes Cosmo feel unwell, and he is unhappy as we hear him start to barf. ' That'll teach you!' I tell him as he walks away to vomit on the dirt side of the plant vase. Oh, by the Grace of it all, Wanda, what has gotten into you? Cosmo hasn't done a thing to you, nothing at all." Mother says; I sniff out, annoyed at him; if only Mother knew.

So what if I didn't do anything? He's annoying; I don't like him, and who wants an idiot around all the time? I get up and walk near the fireplace. It's nice and cozy here for a change. Stretching my paws again, my mother speaks again. "You both must behave to do what I need you to do. It's close to the time that I need my granddaughter back home, and she can't do that unless she has your help, too, even though you're both not the most qualified of my children. Are still the two children I know would never try to hurt them intentionally, unlike the rest of your siblings?" My mother's words perked me up. Am I important?

I start to wag my tail, thinking only that I am important to my mother. I'm important! She walks to her chair and sits down. Mother has aged quite a bit; her words remind her she must return home. I am leaving all of us behind, just like the last time. Or are things going to be a little bit different this time? As the mother is in her chair, rubbing her knees, I walk to her with my ears down and worried. I don't want my mother to be in pain.

Just as I rest my head on her lap, she caresses her tiny knees and smiles at us, which is a positive response to us. I raise one eyebrow at Cosmo, who is showing to be supper happy for no apparent reason, ' why so happy, dummy?' he shakes his fur, ' I'm special to Mommy!' I rolled my eyes. Is he that stupid? Mother meant me, not him. Moving my head toward him, I give him a warning growl, to which Mother tries to calm me down as she rubs my head.

"That's enough out of you both, you.

I wonder why you are both unique to me; I genuinely need to take most of your siblings and ensure that my granddaughter Cassidy and her mate Carter are safe until they get here." I looked at my mother, curious to know what she meant. Are we supposed to protect Cassidy? Carter? Bring them back alive; if that is what my mother said, then I shall do that.

Thumping my tail, I start to lick my mother's hand. I wouldn't say I like how Mother is feeling. I will do what Mother says, but I'm scared for her. "Have you told them yet?" Came the voice of the father. I saw that he had entered alongside more of my brothers and sisters.

I hear Mother giving out her heavy breathing as she replies to him tiredly, Yes, they are still in their ways, but they are fighting over who is more unique than the other. But yes, they already know the plan. We simply need to make sure that everything goes accordingly. We must bless these two; the rest will follow them wherever they go." Mother says she's petting my head.

Father walked in and sat, facing Mother near the warm fireplace. Cosmo walks to his father and does the same thing I do with my mother. Mother takes my face and kisses me; her eyes change into those of a wolf. "You will command those who do not belong to any pack. With this, you will create havoc until you return to me. You must not return home until Cassidy and Carter arrive at my castle alive." Her eyes sparkle out, her command is powerful, and I don't recommend returning home without fulfilling her orders.

Knowing what to do, I placed my paw on her lap. She took it, and with it, she shook it. A small smile spread across her face. "Wanda, now it's your brother's turn; Cosme, go to your mother." Mother pushed me back, and I walked closer to the fireplace. Mother did the same thing she did to me on Cosmo in no time, and just as she was finishing, I started to smell something delicious; it was mouthwatering. What could it possibly be?

My snout is up in the air. I try to find it; I'll need to turn to smell it on my back. My tail was being cooked there, and I started yelping as it hurt. I could feel the fire in my flesh and bones. My tail! Put it out! put it out, put it out, put it out!' I started to shout on our open link.

Father got up, took a water bottle, and dumped it all over me. He kept taking water bottles until I finally had my tail off; it was not inflamed anymore. Yet the pain was excruciating. I kept whimpering while I remained still from movement. My mother moved forward, and I walked to her as she asked me with her hands to go to her.

Taking my tail in her hand, she says, "You must be cautious where you go. Wanda, this is why you and Cosmo have to work together because if it's for yourself, I'm afraid things will never get done, and I know that you both work perfectly well together; you need a little bit more practice, is all." She started to caress my tail as she kept talking to me. I felt wonderful to have another caress on my burned bottom.

As if I could live a little shame, Cosmo had started to laugh, then said in our open link, 'Hungry for a hot dog there, Wanda?' I wanted to growl at him, but I couldn't. My mother was taking care of my tail. Yet he added, which made me glare at him more. It's so lovely and crispy, like chicken sticks.' He kept on laughing till he finally hit the floor, laughing himself.

I rolled my eyes. Idiots surrounded me, and after my mother finally could heal my tail, I barked at him. She sent Cosmo and me to the front of the castle, where a small group of warriors was lined up; since Mother wasn't feeling that great, Father came with us, standing in front of everyone else he commanded.

"Many of you know the Queen is not well, and neither am I. We sadly know that soon our time will be up, and we cannot live in this world any longer, so we have decided to guard what we can. A straightforward mission is placed today. Bring back my granddaughter Cassidy, and bring back the revealing mate to whom she is faded too. Carter, we have appointed Wanda and Cosmo to lead you all. You are to follow their lead until they both return. You will all be fully submitted to their leading in this mission."

Everybody else that stood before us and surrounded us had their auras changed, and I felt my aura be lifted and then increase. Did you think that? That is so freaking cool!' Cosmo says as I feel giddy. I'm finally stronger than Cosmo! I start to dance a little bit, my body moving as if there's music playing, and I am boogying to the beat of the music.

Father looks back at us both, and we stop straightening ourselves and say, "Go and remember what you both need to do." Cosmo and I nodded at our father's command and started running out of the castle, saying, I will go to Cassidy; you go towards Carter!' I mind linking Cosmo to where he stops, knowing that Carter's pack is on his right while Cassidy's pack is straight ahead. Once he knew I was halfway to Cassidy's group, I heard Cosmo's howl, meaning he had arrived at his destination, and as soon as I saw Cassidy's group, I stopped and howled right back. Now we were divided to conquer.
