Chapter 6 6. Why should i do

The manager gathered several employees, like Bella in a closed room. The woman named Yui explained that Sky Newton's presence at this resort was a form of monitoring everyone's performance and designating one of the buildings as the venue for an event the man wanted to hold.

The manager was grateful that their building was chosen as the venue for the event. The day after tomorrow, Sky wanted this resort garden location to be the venue for a garden party for the reunion of high school friends.

The manager had already noted down some of the employees that she would assign to take care of the event.

"I'm delighted that all my employees always work hard, you're not lazy people, but because the selection is limited, not everyone can participate in organizing the reunion event. Please understand." Yui tried to quell the unrest, standing among the many employees cross–legged around her.

"It looks like he's going to pick an old employee who is competent enough," Mook whispered in Bella's ear.

"Really? That's good," Bella replied.

Mook nodded. "I heard that whenever there's a special event at this place, the old staff always take part, and they get a big tip. Maybe it's because new kids like us aren't that interesting, so they let it slide."

"I don't think it's like that, Mook. It's probably because the seniors are much more experienced here, so don't be discouraged."

Before Bella felt almost crazy when she saw Sky Newton after six months had passed, she never thought she had been working in a place owned by Sky's family.

Bella continued to hide from the man even though Sky most likely didn't remember her. Only Bella's shame because of the past situation made her unable to face Sky, even as a subordinate and a boss.

If Mook's words are actual, I will be safe from selecting employees for the reunion event. Bella thought to herself. She felt relieved without the fear of meeting Sky again.

The manager began to mention the names of the employees he chose for the reunion the day after tomorrow, and there were about 25 people.

Bella and Mook were busy talking, especially when Mook continued to discuss Sky Newton's good looks and all the positives in her eyes.

"Bella Renee," Yui said before mentioning another name.

"Wait." Mook frowned. "Did Phi Yui just say your name? Bella Renee? Really?"

"Huh?" Bella's lips parted. "You didn't hear it wrong?"

"Didn't you hear it, Bella?" Mook clucked, then the girl raised her right hand, interrupting and stealing Yui's attention.

"What's wrong, Mook?" Yui asked.

"Sorry, Phi. Bella and I just wanted to ensure, was Bella's name mentioned before?"

Yui nodded, and she looked at Bella. "That's right, and I mentioned Bella Renee. Now is it clear?"

"Thank you," said Mook.

Yui called the next name again.

While Bella froze, she couldn't believe it. How could her name be included in the list of employees for the activities the day after tomorrow when Bella had thought of Mook's words before?

"Wow. Unbelievably, the manager mentioned your name, Bella. For once, a new employee counts," said Mook, looking pleased. "At this rate, I'm sure for future activities, and anyone can get on the list, right?"

Mook was happy, but it was a disaster for Bella. If she becomes an event organizer, it is very likely for Bella to meet Sky Newton again.

This is crazy!

"My friend is indeed very extraordinary." Mook hugged Bella.

"That was a little... weird," Bella said.

Mook released her hug, and she frowned. "What's weird?"

"Why did the manager say my name? She should have just said someone else's name."

"Hey. What's wrong with you?" Mook felt strange about Bella's attitude. "You should be happy to be part of the show. What's wrong with that, Bella?"

The girl shook her head. Bella couldn't possibly explain the real reason to Mook. She was too expressive in front of Mook. Bella should have stayed calm in front of everyone.

"Forget it," Bella said with a bitter smile.

"Alright. You should be happy that you'll get a big tip."

How could I be happy about meeting Sky Newton again? Bella, you've lost your mind.

Bella thought again, her expression no longer happy to accept all this.

When the employee names were selected, everyone left the room. Bella hurriedly chased after Manager Yui.

At the fork in the hallway, Bella touched Yui's shoulder, causing the woman in the black blouse to stop and turn her head.

"Ah, Bella. What's wrong?" asked Yui.

"Eum." Bella looked around, and she made sure Mook and Chezi had left. "I just wanted to correct something, but is it true that my name was mentioned on the list?"

Yui frowned. She took a paper from her skirt pocket and showed Bella's name there. "Earlier, I discussed with some superiors. You're doing very well, so we're allowing you to organize the activities the day after tomorrow. Is there a problem?"

Bella seemed hesitant to speak, and she tried to calm herself before saying, "Actually, I don't–"

"Do you want to step down or be replaced by someone else?" Yui guessed it right away.

"Phi Yui already knows. I'm sorry." She put her palms together in front of her chest. "I didn't mean to."

"Bella, don't you understand that organizing a big event like this can increase your value to your superiors? Don't you know that not every employee can make the list? I chose a new employee like you because I saw that you work hard and are always enthusiastic, you smile at everyone. You're loyal to your job, so what's stopping you, Bella?"

The girl was silent, and she looked down silently.

"Is there an internal problem? Or did someone pressure you into changing his name? Tell me because I could fire her right now." Yui's expression turned annoyed. Bella then held it back as she shook her head.

"No, not at all. No one forced me to resign. I just ...." Bella swallowed. "Not confident. I'm still called a new employee. What if others are jealous of this."

Yui touched Bella's shoulder. "If you work, you don't always have to feel sorry for others, Bella. If you've worked hard, you should enjoy the results. Not other people. Don't you want to get promoted one day?"

"Really?"

Yui nodded. "Organizing an event could be one of the conditions, and it's a promotion. You could get a raise one day. Wouldn't that be nice?"

Bella nodded, and she smiled. Thinking about how to get more money and remembering about tips like Mook said, Bella seems to be happier if she gets the money. She will think about Sky again.

"Are you sure, Bella?" asked Yui.

"I'm not going to back out, and I'm going to organize the event."

Yui smiled. "Very good. I like your spirit. Don't overthink about others, and you have your own life."

"Thank you so much for all your advice, Phi."

"You're welcome." Yui stepped aside from Bella's presence. The girl's confident side instantly appeared. She just needed to think of a way to avoid Sky Newton.
