Point of correction, miss: "Your DEAR Jordan, not ours," Miranda snorted as she stressed the capitalized words.
"I won't allow it, I won't," Vivian heartbrokenly mumbled as she shook her head from side to side.
"You're sick," Miranda muttered lowly but loud enough for Vivian to hear.
Vivian smirked as she felt accomplished.
"That look of yours tells me you've done something," Mira said.
"Me? me, no that's not me" Vivian said smiling sheplessly.
"That smile of yours creeps the hell out of me," Miranda shouted.
"C'mon girlfriend, am just excited that we are gonna go to school tomorrow" Vivian ragged and shrugged.
That's odd. Vivian never gets excited or happy because of school; instead, she curses every morning because she needs to wake up in order to get to school.
Mira knew it immediately and started feeling agitated. Something is definitely off,
"You're currently acting like a possessed bitch, Vivi," Mira said to her as she scanned Vivian with her eyes from head to toe.
"Am I?" Vivi replied, still smiling widely.
"So cold," Mira mumbled and stood up. She walked away from where Vivian had sat down.
But Vivian stood up and rushed up to hug her.
"Girlfriend," Vivian beamed.
"Is everything okay?" Mira asked confusedly.
"Hmm," Vivian nodded, still smiling.
"Did you win a bet or what?" Mira asked confusedly.
"Nah, something more than a bet," Vivian replied.
"And that is?" Miranda asked as she focused her attention on her crazy friend.
"Hmm, it's a secret," Vivian replied.
"Now, we keep secrets?" Mira asked and sneered at Vivian.
Mira rolled her eyes immediately; suddenly, her phone rang, and the caller ID stood there clearly: "MOM."
"WTF?" Vivian gasped.
"Why is mom calling? Is she coming home anytime from now?" Mira asked, not expecting answers; it's not like Vivian would know anything about it.
"Pick it up," Vivian spoke up, and Mira slid it up to pick up the call and brought the phone closer to her ears slowly.
"Hi Mom"
"Why does it have to take you years to pick up my call?" Her mom's loud and angry voice sounded.
"Sorry Mom, I was actually busy with something; I didn't hear it ring on time." Miranda lied through gritted teeth, and Vivian sent her a thumbs up.
"Really?"
"Yes, mom"
"Are you okay over there?" Her mom's voice was clearly heard through the phone.
"Yes, Mom, I'm okay," she replied, and Vivian pinched her, which made her wince in pain.
Vivian nodded, indicating that Mira had answered wrongly.
"Are you sure you're really okay?" She asked
"Yes, mom, I'm perfectly okay, mom," Mira replied, and she rubbed the part where Vivian had pinched her.
"You're getting done with college in two months, right?" Her mom asked, and Mira's expression changed.
Her face dropped as she continued to fidget with her nails before answering.
"Yes, Mom," she replied.
"Good, get ready to come over here once you're done with school," her mom ordered.
And just like Mira had expected, that was what her mom would say. She badly wishes her mom would forget about it and stop bringing back old memories that need to be forgotten, but no, her mom still clearly remembers it.
She heard the call disconnect from the other side as she rolled her eyes and dropped her phone.
"What's wrong, baby?" Vivian asked.
"Did she talk about you still coming back over there?" Vivian asked, and she nodded slowly.
"It's okay, bestie, don't be down all because of a thing like that," Vivian said, trying to cheer up her bestie.
"Oh! I think I know of something that can change this dull mood. Vivian stood up and ran over to the small stall table beside the TV as she picked up a CD, inserted it into the CD player, and it began to play.
Alright, Miranda needed no soothsayer to tell her the CD she had just picked is by her superstar celebrity crush, Jordan.
And just as to confirm her thought, a gentle, cool voice blared out of the music player, as expected, and Jordan's voice lit up the room.
Vivian had this huge smile all over her face when she heard Jordan's voice from the music box.
The music sounded familiar to Miranda. She suddenly recalled that it was the music he sang when they went to his last concert.
Though she doesn't listen to his songs and she's not his fan, this is what happens when your bestie is a die-hard fan of some musician, or, should I say, when your bestie crushes on a dude and almost turns herself into a stalker: you tend to know almost everything about the guy.
Miranda scoffed and tilted my head; the music hasn't started yet, but she's already yelling like a bitch.
"What do I do? I think my eardrum would get burst tonight," she thought.
Finally, the music started, and immediately, Vivian sang along to the music.
Miranda fidgeted her head and was looking at Vivian while chuckling, thinking, "Gawd, she needs to hear her voice; she needs to hear herself; she sounded like a hungry frog."
Vivian swayed her hips to the music as she was smiling like someone who won a million dollars, which made me laugh out loud at her dance step.
She swayed her hair crazily as she jumped around the room.
"What has this Jordan of a guy done to my friend's life?" Miranda lamented.
The music ended, and just when Miranda thought she'd have her peace, another one played up from the music box; this time it was slow, emotional music.
Miranda's eyes suddenly darted to Vivian, and she was awestruck. Vivian was crying and singing. "Right now, if she thinks she's singing, please have someone kindly help me tell her we aren't in a funeral." She sneered inwardly as she continued staring at Vivian.
Finally, the music ended, and Miranda sighed in relief. She immediately picked up her pace and left the room.
"Wow, girlfriend, Jordan is the best, swears," she yelled, beaming from ears to ears as little beads of sweat dropped down her face.
Miranda scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"C'mon, girlfriend, don't be a killjoy," Vivian said, pulling Miranda back to the disco room.
"Oh no! "Another round of madness," Miranda cursed inwardly.
