Chapter 4 Aggie looked at her father

She wiped the tears from her cheeks and stood up to look at her mother, she was worried about her condition. It is inevitable to blame the poverty in life again. Later, the nurse came to her and said that her mother will be transferred to the ward. Aggie's mother was transferred to the ward. She looked at the adjacent patients who were just like them, one-bed and one-beak. She sat on the chair next to her mother's bed and caressed her unconscious mother's hand. "Mom, get well soon because we don't have any money," she whispered.

In the evening, her father returned with a hundred thousand in cash. And it immediately paid their obligation to the hospital.

"Aggie, this is all we have left of our money." At the same time, he reached for a white envelope containing twenty-five thousand.

"My God. How about this, dad?" Aggie's concerned. Because they have only been in the hospital for a day.

"That's what I'm thinking. Maybe this money will last until tomorrow," her father said sadly.

"Why don't you approach our mayor?" suddenly, answered the elderly woman. She sat behind her.

"Did you try to approach the mayor?" asked Aggie.

"Yes. We were given fifty thousand. You will just try, especially now that the election is coming, so it will definitely not be denied," she said.

Aggie looked at her father, checking if his father was convinced.

"There's nothing to lose if I try," Lucio said.

She feels sorry for her father because she knows he is shy, but for her Mom, he is willing to do anything. So, he admired it even more and thought to imitate it.

"Dad, when you come back from the municipality, I will leave," she said.

"Where are you going?" asked his father in surprise.

"I'm going to my boss. I will borrow money, and I'm also going to the people I wash, and to make an advance. Even if I just do the laundry there when my mom washes," she explained here and with a bright smile.

"Alright. I'll be right back." Lucio left again, and went to the municipality because he was hoping that the mayor would help him.

Even though it was not Lucio's habit to approach anyone, he did it for his wife. He made a thick face just to help someone in their current situation. Meanwhile, Aggie decided to go home first and not wait for her father. She temporarily left her mother with the watcher next bed, and she agreed. She also talked to the nurse to check on her mother because she had to go home to find money.

"Don't worry, I'll be right back, ma'am," she promised the nurse.

"Okay, but come back before five o'clock in the afternoon because I'm going out," explained the nurse.

"Yes, ma'am. Thank you very much." She immediately left to come back.

The first person she went to was the owner of the cafeteria where she worked. She went straight to the house because in the afternoon the owner was already at their house.

"Ma'am... Ma'am." Aggie's voice outside the gate.

"Aggie, why are you here?" asked her boss, who recently opened the small door of their gate.

"Good afternoon, ma'am. I need something." Her introduction.

"What is that? Come inside." And let her in. "What do you want, Aggie?" she asked when they were seated.

"Ma'am, maybe I can borrow some money. My mother is in the hospital, and needs a lot of money," she said humbly.

"Is that so? Uhm... I have money here but only five thousand I can lend it to you."

"It's alright, ma'am. I'll accept that because it's an enormous help in my mom's treatment. Thank you very much, ma'am."

"It's nothing. Just a moment and I'll get it first."

"Okay, ma'am."

Aggie's boss got up and went into the house to get the money. Somehow, the young woman breathed a sigh of relief because she did not fail in her steps. For her, five thousand is a high amount, especially on this day.

"Aggie, this is the money."

"Thank you so much, ma'am. Don't worry, when my mom's condition is good, I'll work immediately to pay for it," she explained.

"No problem, Aggie. Just focus on your mom first," she replied.

"Okay, ma'am. Thank you very much again." And she left.

The next person she went to was her laundry boss. He gave one thousand, but the other refused because they had no money. She first went home to their house to change clothes. She was sad to enter their small house, and the silence inside added to it. Her shoulders slumped as she sat on her pallet bed and looked at the six thousand in cash in her hand.

"My God, help me and dad to overcome this concern. We have no one else to hold on to but you. I hope mom can recover so that she can be here at home recovering," she silently prayed.

When she remembered that the nurse was going to take a five-hour shift, she quickly took a shower outside their house because their faucet was there. She was done in less than ten minutes and quickly got dressed to go back to the hospital. Even though she was hungry, she didn't eat it because she knew that no one could take care of her mother. She arrived at the hospital in half an hour. She was running around because it was five o'clock, but when she entered the public room, her father was already there.

"Dad, are you here?" she asked, and at the same time.

"I just arrived," he replied.

She sat on the edge of the bed before talking to her father. "How's your walk, dad?" she calmly asked her father.

"I talked to the mayor. He said that his secretary will be here tomorrow to verify if what I approached them is true. How are you doing?" asked her father back.

"I just borrowed this." At the same time, she reached six thousand.

"That's okay, rather than nothing," said her father.

"Keep it, dad. Because tomorrow I'm going home to do laundry for other customers," she replied.

"Okay." Lucio's expression was sad because he felt sorry for his daughter. But he can't do anything because they are just poor.
