Chapter 4

Alpha Miguel

"Thank you, Sir," The way she smiles at me after I drop her off at the bus stop makes my heart flutter, and I feel my wolf wavers inside me excitedly.

"Hmm," I nod my head before I start the car and drive away. The thought of Clarissa fills my heart as I drive down the road minutes later. Even though I have been avoiding her all this while, I still feel drawn to her, and I wish I can stop this.

Arriving at home minutes later, I set to go to the pack to see Ares, because I need to discuss with him about this. It has just been one week since she started working with me, and I seem to be losing control of myself, I just wonder what will happen the rest of the time we would be spending together.

Teleporting to the pack is not something difficult, since it's what I have always done. On my way to Roan's chamber, I stop on my track when I bump into the chief of the castle. It has been a while since I last saw him since I have been avoiding him.

"Greetings, Alpha," He bows to greet me, and I sigh deeply. Turns out that I can't avoid him forever.

"Greetings, Eric," I reply to him.

"Alpha seems to be busy lately that we haven't been seeing him at the castle," He utters as if he's not talking to the alpha, and I sigh briefly. After the death of Jenny, I have tried as much as to avoid him and every other member of the court, since they wouldn't stop until I take another mate. To them, everything that has been happening to me was a coincidence, and it's driving me crazy that they don't even understand the pain I'm going through. They are only thinking of what other Packs will say about their Alpha not having a mate, and not even thinking of the pain I have been going through.

"Yes," I reply to him bluntly.

"Uhm... The court chiefs are already waiting at the pack hall, why don't you join us?" He inquires.

"I have something to deal with, Eric. I will see them some other time," I reply to him casually, turning to leave.

"It's really important, Alpha," He insists, and I bite my bottom lip.

"Alright. I will join you later," I reply to him before I head to Roan's chamber.

"What brought the Alpha to my chamber tonight? Is everything alright?" Roan asks once I step into his chamber.

"What should I do, Roan? The bond seems to be getting stronger no matter how I try to resist it," I explain to him as I take a seat beside him.

"I told you to stop resisting, Alpha... It won't ever go," He replies to me casually, and I run my fingers through my hair crazily.

"What should I do, please? I don't want to hurt her... She's going to die if I get involved with her, and you know it," I try to make him reason with me, but it seems like I'm only wasting my time.

"I told you nothing will happen..."

"That was the same thing you told me, and Lisa eventually died... I don't want to take any more innocent life, Roan," I shake my head, and he sighs briefly.

"I don't know how to convince you again... But I know that things won't remain the same," He replies to me.

A few minutes later, I finally leave his chamber, and just as I'm about to leave the pack because I'm not ready to attend the so-called meeting, I bump into Axel, my beta.

"Are you leaving again?" He inquires, and I nod my head. It's the first time I'm getting to see him in five months because I've been avoiding everyone.

"This is not fair, Miguel... You have people here waiting for you... You need to get yourself together, and..."

"I will be leaving now, Axel," I cut him off, before I teleport out of the pack, and back to my mansion.

Slumping on the couch in the living room as soon as I arrive at my mansion, I ask myself if I'm ready to do this. The mate bond won't stop until I do something, and the only thing I can do is to be with her, but what if something happens to her? Jenny and the four others were all werewolves, yet they died, but what about her that is a human? Humans are weak, and I think this is going to be worse

'You are such a useless Alpha! How can you run away from your people?'

'You don't deserve to be called an Alpha. You are so useless. What is an alpha without a mate?' just the imagination of what they are going to say to me later is driving me nuts. They are going to laugh at me and call me weak, which I do not ever want. I want to be a husband, a father, and an Alpha. I want to protect not only my people, but my mate, and my kids. I don't want to live the rest of my life in pain, and there's only one way out, which is to accept her as my mate and find a way to bring her close to myself.

Is she really the one for me? Will nothing really happen to her as Roan said?

After reminiscing about it all through the night, I woke up this morning with my mind made up that I will accept her, and since I made the decision, my wolf has been so happy that he couldn't just wait to see her today.

"We should take things slow, Ares. She's a human, you know?" I whisper to Ares as I drive to the office.

After about thirty minutes drive, I finally arrive at the company, and I head straight to the office, where I meet her sitting behind her desk with a cheerful smile on her face as usual. I stand admiring the beauty that turns out to be our mate, but at the same time, scared of losing her later in the future.

"Did I make the right decision?" I ask myself, and just then, she raises her gaze to look at me, while having a wide smile lingering on her face.

"Oh, Mr. Miguel, you're here? Good morning, and happy birthday to you," She stands up and smiles at me. Wait! What! My birthday? Is it today?
