Chapter 6 Breaking Both Rules!

"Scum!" Lena huffed under her breath.

"Shouldn't you be happy?" Matteo's brows furrowed and Lena scoffed.

"Who would be after receiving a written insult?" She frowned.

She hated this man's guts not only was he lacking manners of speech but it went down to messages as well. It was in his blood.

She was happy she got the job at least she was going to be able to fulfil the promise she made to her sister. But when she thought about the kind of person she was going to be working for, she felt irritated.

Matteo smiled," Forget the insults and let us celebrate."

....

At The Mansion...

Trent was perplexed when he saw Lena packing their luggage, he asked if they were going back to Grandma but she explained to him that she had found a new job and they were going to stay there. Trent was happy when they got to the mansion, he found the place very beautiful and loved that it was going to be his new home.

"Nice to see you, Lena," Itzel smiled embracing Lena tightly.

"How are you?" Lena smiled cupping itzel's cheeks.

"I'm fine," Itzel replied.

Itzel looked over at Trent who was standing beside Lena.

When Trent saw how she peered at him he mumbled," Hi. I'm Trent.

"Itzel," Itzel's nose scrunched up and she shifted her attention to Lena, she had no intention of starting a conversation with the little boy whom she found annoying.

Itzel was aware of how much her father loved kids, so she feared Trent was going to get a lot of attention from her dad, and she didn't want that.

When her father insisted any applicant for the job must have a child she didn't like it but had no say since her father was adamant about it. Henderson made that a requirement because he felt a lady with a kid was going to have experience handling his daughter.

Lena noticed Itzel's attitude towards Trent but she shrugged it off since Itzel wasn't friendly with her from the beginning she believed Trent and Itzel were going to get along with time.

Soon Henderson joined them in the living room.

"Good morning, Sir," Lena greeted standing up to her feet but got no response from Henderson who walked paster and crouched in front of Trent.

"Who do we have here?" Henderson smiled.

"Good morning, Sir. My name is Trent," Trent introduced himself with a slight bow.

Henderson was impressed, he wondered if Lena was really his mother. How then did the little boy have good manners and she had none?

Trent caught Henderson's attention when he walked into the room and saw him and now that he spoke to him, he liked Trent even more.

Itzel frowned seeing how nice her father was being with Trent but forced a smile when her eyes met Lena's.

"Nice name for a nice gentleman," Henderson smoothing Trent's hair before he straightened himself and turned to Lena who was staring at him in disbelief.

Lena found it unbelievable that a man like Henderson could be nice to anyone.

"Can we get to my house rules? Take your sit." He mumbled sitting down.

Lena scoffed inwardly taking her sit in anticipation of the kind of rules this man had.

"Rule number one, never interfere in my personal affairs."

"Why would I?" she murmured.

"Did you say something?" Henderson's cold gaze dork on Lena.

"No," she chuckled nervously. She didn't realise she said that out loud. She had to keep her thoughts to herself, she scolded herself mentally.

Henderson's eyes scrutinised her face, he heard her. He only asked to see if she had the guts to repeat what she said, but turned out she was just a scared chicken.

Lena hated that he was staring at her intensely, so she looked away.

Henderson averted his gaze from her and continued to speak.

"Rule number two never scold Itzel or lay a hand on her. I might forgive if you break rule number one but I won't forgive you if you disobey rule two," Henderson stated his voice echoing seriousness.

Lena wasn't someone who believed in striking children, she had never laid a finger on Trent so she understood the first part of the second rule but was taken aback by the second part.

What kind of parent wouldn't want their children to be scolded? How then would the child be corrected? Not wanting to make a fuss about it, she agreed to his rules.

Moroever, it was his daughter, and he had all right to decide the kind of upbringing he wanted for her.

Henderson threw jabs at Lena just to get a reaction out of her but ended up being disappointed when she didn't respond to them.

He showed Lena and Trent to their room afterwards. The room was large and beautiful, it had a king-size bed and all they needed.

Henderson had asked the workers to take Lena's and Trent's luggage in earlier.

He said Trent could have a different room if Lena wanted but she said no. There was no way she was going to let her son stay in a different room.

Lena got to work after settling in, she got Itzel ready for school and made sure that her lunch was properly packed.

She received a call from Matteo after that asking how they were doing and that he was going to miss her cooking. They talked about other stuff before he hung when his break was over and he had to return to work.

Lena spoke to Henderson about the advance payment before he left and to her surprise, he said he was going to send the money to her once he got to the office after collecting her bank account details.

A wide grin spread on Lena's face after she picked up her phone which buzzed. Henderson had wired the money to her.

She sent part of the money to her sister before calling her up. Irene was overjoyed and thanked Lena.

Lena planned to use the rest of the money to enrol Trent in school.

Lena went around the mansion to see if there was anything she could do. Bbut the woman she met the first time she came to the mansion told her she didn't have to do anything. She found out that everyone addressed the woman as Madam Carmen, she was the oldest and head of workers in the house.

Lena tried to insist, but madam Carmen won over her saying all she had to do was be Itzel's Nanny. Lena returned to her room after that.

Later that day..

Lena was worried when she overhead Itzel lashing out at her dad later that evening when he returned from work.

Since Itzel's room was beside Lens's room, Lena found out that the reason for that was because Henderson forgot to buy Itzel the headphone he promised her.

Henderson said he was going to get it tomorrow but Itzel insisted he got it right away or she was not going to talk to him.

He left Itzel's room after he was unable to convince her, he was going to find a way to get the headphone so his daughter could be happy.

"Mommy, I think Itzel is bad., Trent mumbled taking his mom by surprise.

Lens's eyes crinkled that instant, she taught her son better not to judge people or say bad things about them.

"Trent, don't say that. It's wrong to judge people," Lens scolded.

Trent looked at his mom apologetically.

"I'm sorry mom," his eyes moistened in remorse, his mom never scolded him except he had something wrong.

"You are forgiven. Just don't speak like that ok," she smiled cupping his cheeks and he nodded.

She kissed his cheeks. With a child like Trent parenting was easier, Lena smiled to herself.

"I'll be right back," Lena said to Trent who nodded before heading for Itzel's room. The door was open so she just walked in.

"Get out... Da...." Itzel paused when she saw that it wasn't her father.

Her arms were folded around her chest and her face contorted in a frown

Lena stooped on the bed beside Itzel.

Itzel sat up to face her.

"My Daddy is mean, he promised to get me a headphone but he didn't. He does not love me anymore. I hate...." Lena didn't let Itzel finish the statement.

She chirped in calmly," Just because your Daddy didn't get you the headphone doesn't mean he does not love you anymore. You shouldn't speak to him the way you did or say bad things about him."

Itzel burst into tears, she expected Lena to take her side not her father's.

"Itzel..." Lena called softly trying to calm her down but Itzel only cried louder.

"What did you do to my daughter?" That voice almost made her flinch.

She swallowed the lump that formed in her throat the moment her eyes met Henderson, his eye blazed with rage.

His face was like a volcano about to erupt, it was nothing compared to the times she had seen him angry.

What had she gotten herself into?
