Chapter 2 Her Boss finds love in her

Welbeck was a successful businessman and he frequently travels for work. On this trip, he met Christine, his assistant, who was assigned to assist him for the duration of his stay. During the trip, Welbeck and Christine had a good working relationship, and Welbeck found himself admiring Christine's efficiency and professionalism. After a long day of meetings and appointments, Welbeck felt relaxed and comfortable in the hotel room, and he decided to call Christine to express how he felt.

" Christine, it's Welbeck," he said in a husky voice. "I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your help during this trip."

Christine was surprised to hear Welbeck's voice. It was rare for her to receive a personal call from her client, but she was glad that he was satisfied with her service.

"I'm glad I could help, sir," Christine responded politely, trying to keep a professional tone in her voice.

"No, Christine, it's not just your work that impressed me," Welbeck continued. "I feel comfortable and happy around you, and you make my stay here much better."

Christine felt a bit uneasy with Welbeck's words. Although she was a professional and friendly person, she made sure to maintain a professional boundary with her clients. However, she could feel the sincerity in Welbeck's tone, and she didn't want to sound rude or dismissive.

"I'm glad to hear that, sir. Is there anything else I can assist you with?" Christine asked, hoping to steer the conversation back to work-related matters.

"No, that's all for now. Just wanted to let you know how I felt," Welbeck said with a gentle sigh. "Thank you, Christine."

Christine ended the call and took a deep breath. She appreciated Welbeck's kind words, but she felt a twinge of guilt. Christine was married, and she knew that her husband wouldn't be comfortable with her receiving such compliments from a male client.

She decided to keep the conversation to herself and focused on finishing her work efficiently. Although Welbeck's words made her feel good momentarily, Christine knew where her priorities lied, and that was with her family.

She was doing her usual work at the office when her husband, Mr. Robert called her.

She was quite declining the call but she picked up after taking in a deep breath.

"Hello Christine, I would like to ask if you will get home early today, I have plans on having a family trip today till Monday".

Robert said calmly.

For a moment, she couldn't answer his husband because Welbeck had already promised her a holiday trip.

"Um, "Um, okay, I'm busy right now so let me get home before we talk later".

She said and ended the call after Robert accepted her excuse.

"Huh!, I shouldn't have rushed to marry this man".

She said in a worried way and turned to her desk.

As Robert sat in his armchair, deep in thought, he couldn't help but wonder why his wife had become distant towards him ever since she had started working at Welbeck's company.

They had been married for five years now and had always been each other's support system. Robert had been thrilled when his wife had told him about the job opportunity at Welbeck's and had encouraged her to go for it. But now he couldn't shake the feeling that he had somehow made a mistake in doing so.

As he thought about it more, Robert realized that his wife had been tirelessly working long hours at Welbeck's and came back home exhausted, hardly sparing him a glance or any affection. Their conversations were limited to mundane topics around work and anything else was quickly shut down.

Robert felt a pang in his heart, realizing that maybe he had been taking their relationship for granted too. He had been so busy with his work that he had hardly paid attention to her struggles and triumphs at work. Maybe all she needed was a little support and encouragement from him.

Determined to make things better between them, Robert decided to give her the space she needed and waited for the right time to have a heart-to-heart with her. He knew they could work things out, they just needed to communicate and be there for one another.

As he drifted off to sleep, Robert felt a sense of calmness come over him, knowing that he had a plan to win back his wife's love and attention.

He was frustrated and thinking so he left the office.

As the sun beat down on his skin, Robert felt the warmth and calmness of the day surrounding him. It was one of those perfect afternoons where the sky was blue and cloudless, and the air was filled with a gentle breeze. He had just finished his work at the office and was driving back to his house, looking forward to spending some quality time with his daughter.

Driving along the smooth, paved road with the windows down, Robert took in the beauty of his surroundings. The green trees lining the road, the fields of yellow crops blowing in the breeze, and the distant hills painting the perfect backdrop, it was all so serene. The joy he felt from the beauty around him could only be matched by the happiness and love he had for his wife and his children.

As he drove closer to his house, he could see the familiar white picket fence that surrounded his property. As he pulled onto the gravel driveway, he could see his daughter's puppy barking with excitement to see him. Robert smiled, knowing that his family was just inside waiting for him.

He walked through the door, and the smell of dinner wafted through the air, welcoming him home. His daughter's nanny greeted him with a warm hug, and he ran up to check on his daughter with excitement, eager to tell her all about his day. Robert couldn't help but feel grateful for the life he had built with his family and the love they shared.

As he sat down for a rest he couldn't help but reflect on how the simple moments in life were the ones that brought him the most happiness. The drive home in the sunny weather was just a small part of the joyous life he had built. It was filled with the love of his family, appreciation for nature and the beauty that surrounds him, and gratitude for the simple things in life.

Robert made a promise to himself to never take these moments for granted, and to cherish every day with his loved ones.

As the evening came to a close, he was expecting Christine to be in the house but she wasn't there

The moment Robert stepped through the front door, little Manuela could sense that something exciting was about to happen. She had been waiting for this moment all day long; just thinking about it had made her heart skip a beat.

Finally, she heard the sound of his footsteps approaching, and her heart started to race with anticipation. As soon as he walked into the living room, Manuela ran up to him and threw her arms around his waist.

"Daddy!" she exclaimed, burying her face in his shirt. "You're home!"

He smiled down at her, feeling the warmth of her embrace. "Yes, my sweet girl, I'm home," he said, patting her back gently.

Manuel was just three years old, but she knew that hugging her dad was the best way to show him how much she loved him. She squeezed him tightly, not wanting to let go.

As she held onto him, she could feel the roughness of his work clothes against her skin, and the faint smell of his aftershave. It all comforted and reassured her, like a warm blanket on a chilly day.

Her dad crouched down and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. They stayed like that for a moment, just breathing in each other's presence.

Finally, Manuela pulled back and looked up at her dad with a big grin. "I missed you," she said, her eyes shining with joy.

"I missed you too, my love," he said, kissing the top of her head. "Now, let's go have some fun!"

And with that, they set off on another adventure, father and daughter, hand in hand.

The daughter loved her Dad more than her Mom.

Expecting Christine to be back in an hour, she wasn't yet in.
