In Durham, Beatrice and Maria went to meet the headmistress. She was checking out a file when they got there, so they waited till she was ready to attend to them.
"Sit down" she said and they both sit. "I was notified that, your projects won the best award of the semester in your class" she said as they both nodded.
The headmistress headed over to them a file, "this design was what lost at the final of the international competition, last two year, identify where the mistake was?" She said and the two were speechless.
'Seriously, did the headmistress call them here to find solution to a level 4 question!, What kind of headmistress is this'
Beatrice and Maria were already screaming in their minds.
Beatrice picked the paper up and looked at it carefully,
She showed Maria her observation before talking.
"Ma, I feel, the placement of the drawing on the paper is wrong, it's not following the rules of drawing and the measurements on the paper is incorrect, for example, the breast line measurements of a curved lady is 8 not 9. This will lead to an imbalance gown" she said and the headmistress looked at her staright in the eye.
The duo felt scared as the headmistress kept quite still.
She sighed and the duo felt thier heart was shutting down. The eye of the headmistress was staring back and forth like a seesaw.
"Since when have you guys been friends?" She finally asked. The duo looked at each other before Beatrice replied,"since the first day of our resumption as level 1 students".
"Okay, there is an offer, a competition, and our school only has a slot, so therefore, one of you must volunteer to represent the school, so which of you will be going?" She asked and the duo looked at each other and smiled.
"Ma, thanks for the offer, we will reject it" Beatrice said and Maria smacked her head, "sorry, ma, Beatrice is still sleepy, that why she is saying rubbish, put Beatrice name on the list, I will asssit her through out the competition, so its still both of us" she said and Beatrice's eye widen, "our chance is now or never" Maria said and whispered into Beatrice ear, "you know I can't compete, I lose focus on time but with me supporting, we can do this".
They both nodded at the headmistress to c ok nfirm their finally answer.
The headmistress smiled and gave them a picture.
"That was my best friend while I was also studying, we met the first day of resumption as well but I lost her, we were the best student just like you guys, we devoted all our times into fashion, we do go to shows just to have a look at the red carpet ladies in their fancy gowns, it was the best day of my life but this kind of offer came our way, I messed up, she placed my name in the offer, she supported me till the competition was over, we drew plans and did fabric shopping together and lot more, and I won. Many options kept showing up in my way, I started going from shows to shows alone just because I want to make a name for myself forgetting my friend who gave up a dream for me. When I finally made a name, I lost her. No contact, she just disappeared, I do regret this everyday of my life, she was the bases of my fame, she was everything to me, but what did I do to her?, I left her, I didn't reply her calls or her text, I was just so busy, so busy" she narrated and picked a wipe to clean her face, "Beatrice, you remind me of her" she said and looked at Beatrice was still shocked looking at the picture, she was starring at it like her life depends on it.
"What is her name, ma?" Beatrice asked and the headmistress smiled, "she is Elizabeth stone".
Beatrice looked at the headmistress will a blank expression, "she is my mother, Elizabeth stone is my mother".
