Chapter 7 First Job Again

Adam smiled devilishly when I said I wanted to stay in his apartment. I'm getting more and more suspicious.

"Follow me," Adam ordered.

Adam moved from the dining room to another room. There is a king-size bed. Adam likes muted grey. For guys, the rooms are neat and clean. The room is enormous. The wardrobe alone is more extensive than my wardrobe combined with Riyals. Who is Riyal? She's my sister; I'll tell you later.

I froze at the door. Oh, this is the bedroom. Why did Adam bring me here? I'm not ready to split durian.

"Why are you standing?" Adam looked back precisely in the direction I was standing.

"This is a room, Sir." I want to cry. Don't deflower me now! Mom, please! Your daughter will be stained.

"Yes, this is my room. Your room is next door."

"Bu... But... It's still early," I said.

"Oh yes, that's clear. Our activities do not know the time of day. Morning or night, it doesn't matter."

I gulped. Do you know quickie sex? Quick, fast, no-nonsense intimate relationships. I don't want; I don't want!

"Here you are," Adam said.

I'm getting hotter and colder. I want to say yes; I'm afraid of convenience, uh, it's wrong; I'm so scared of Allah and sin. I want to say no, but I am fearful of being fired. Let me take two steps forward. It's still far.

"Lawyer looks like to show off luxury. But you will see why we are paid so much. Clients buy our time," explained Adam.

I don't know what Adam said. I pray in my heart. Soon, my virginity will be lost.

"Okay, so your first assignment is to read the document." Adam pointed at the mountain of files on his desk.

"Oh, read the documents," I muttered between relief and disappointment. Why am I so disappointed, not grateful for not being unboxing? I don't know; I'm also surprised.

"Yes, why?"

I shook my head. If you just read the document, what's the problem? I sat in Adam's softwork chair and opened the top folder. There is a number here: 254030 K/Pid.Sus/2022

"What does Pid. Sus mean?" he asked.

"Pid Sus?" This is the result if most of the class sleeps during lectures. Maybe you mean Pid Sos, right? Sausage Criminal.

Crunch, crunch.

My stomach started demonstrating. I didn't have time to eat. How do you want to eat if told to come at 6 in the morning? My brain is now thinking about food. Want chicken porridge? Good times, huh? Do SCBD residents eat chicken porridge? What is golden gruel?

"Yeah, what does pid. sus mean?" Adam repeated.

"Pidana (Criminal) Sushi," I said confidently while nodding.

"Pidana (Criminal) Sushi?" Adam's eyes widened.

"Your client probably ate sushi at an expensive restaurant; he didn't bring his wallet or have e-money either. So, yes, the restaurant owner has reported it to the police." My explanation makes sense, right? That makes sense; I'm excited about this.

Adam tapped his forehead. Looks very dizzy. Eh? My answer is wrong.

"Where's your campus? Your lecturer didn't teach it," Adam snapped.

"Don't do that, Honey. My lecturer was true. I'm just an idiot. On the IQ test, it's the same as a parakeet."

In front of a lawyer, it's best to admit your weakness so things don't get any longer.

"Your lecturer should explain this, but for now, let me explain."

Adam then advanced to the blackboard. The blackboard is not white from melamine plywood but made of glass. Luxury anyway. He erased the writing that was already there and then made a table. Now and then, Adam stopped to think, trying to remember something.

"Look at this table," Adam pointed to 4 columns. There are columns for classifying general case types, numbers, case classifications, and codes.

Okay, I have to remember it to be more innovative.

"Generally, civil cases are divided into civil cases and civil lawsuits. Try mentioning civil cases of the petition."

Adam became an impromptu lecturer, only more sinister-auras of killer lecturers.

"Maybe... Application for interfaith marriage permit," I said. There are benefits to following the Lambe Dower Instagram account, right? There are a lot of people asking for interfaith marriages.

"That's right." Adam nodded. "Then what again?"

I was silent, pretending to think, but I didn't know anymore. Didn't my teacher teach me before?

"Civil cases, for example, applications for the appointment of guardians for minor children, applications for the appointment of guardianship, applications for marriage dispensation, applications for annulment of marriages, applications for adoption, applications for a person to be declared absent or declared dead, and applications for being designated as a power of attorney for selling an inherited property. All these cases are coded Pdt. P. Got it?"

I nodded. I understand. If my lecturer used to be this handsome, maybe I wouldn't have fallen asleep in class; possibly, my eyes wouldn't have needed to be forced to be awake. Therefore, O law faculties throughout Indonesia, if you want to recruit lecturers, please look for ones that are pleasing to the eye. When students pay dearly, the lecturers are wrinkled; they can't even afford skincare.

"Under the civil petition, there is a civil lawsuit. This, as we know, is a divorce suit, tort, and default. There is also a class action, for example, against a company that harms the surrounding community."

Adam is exceptionally talented as a lecturer. The explanation gets into the brain without missing anything.

"Besides general civil law, there are special civil laws, for example, bankruptcy, postponement of debt payment obligations, renvoi, and others. That's the code for Pdt. Sus followed by the type of case. For example, for bankruptcy, the case code is Pdt. Sus-Bankrupt. You understand."

I nodded. It refreshes my eyes to see the handsome lecturer. Even though sometimes it's scary when I'm having a relapse, now I only see his beautiful face.

"In the folder you read, there is writing Pid. Sus. That is not a serious crime but a certain crime. There are also general and special crimes. Pid. B or ordinary punishment for cases listed in the Criminal Code, Pid. C or swift punishment for a minor criminal case. Meanwhile, the case I want you to study is a special crime. Our client, convicted of child rape, is currently pursuing cassation at the Supreme Court."

"CUAN Law Firm defends rapists?" I asked in shock. Hey, I'm a girl. How can I defend someone who harms fellow women?

"Interesting matter. People only know that rapists must be punished to the fullest extent. Even petitioning for the death penalty. It's not always like that."

Oh crap, lawyers suck like a rickshaw. If the client is wrong, say it's terrible; why defend so desperately? Go ahead and not be afraid to support those who pay.

"Do you want to accuse me because I'm a man, so I defend my fellow men?" he asked.

Yes, of course; what's the reason?

"This convict's name is Aldebaran," said Adam.

Oh, the legendary Mas Al. The idol of the village ladies. But why is this Aldebaran acting precisely like the Antichrist?

"Aldebaran is a teacher at an international school. The victim is considered to be a 12-year-old child. His student is the son of a commissioner at BUMN," continued Adam.

What is the less satan? He has raped minors and his students too. There are lots of open BO girls. As an adult, I also volunteered to do it.

"You'll read the document for details later, but I'll give you a quick overview. Aldebaran knew the 'victim':" Adam made quotation marks in the air as he mentioned the victim "since he was six years old or in 1st grade elementary school. The name 'victim' was Vanessa. Her father is busy; he always comes home late.

Sometimes, even on weekends, his father works. This causes Vanessa to pay less attention to the father figure. Her mother is busy with the cellist association. Vanessa is forced to take various lessons, such as subjects, music, and ballet, so that she won't be lonely at home. But still, many activities do not erase the feeling of loneliness. Because what a child needs is to give love to their parents. Vanessa is often moody at school. Aldebaran, who gives, comes to Vanessa and asks her to tell her anxiety. They become close.

Aldebaran's problems arise when he takes Amelia to school, introducing Vanessa to the fact that Amelia is his future wife. Vanessa then reveals that she has a crush on Aldebaran wanting to be his wife. At that time, Aldebaran only thought that Vanessa was joking. It's a little kid joke. But he was wrong. Vanessa somehow hurt herself, breaking her hymen. Complaints that she was raped by Aldebaran so that Amelia doesn't marry Aldebaran.

The cellphone I used to take a picture of Adam's explanation fell on the table. This is wild. There are children whose behaviour is more dajjal than adults.

"Is this for real? It's a soap opera story," I said, unable to stop my thoughts.

"You will find many cases crazier than soap operas. The profession of a lawyer brought me to understand an incident. Investigate it to the end. If you follow the case, you might hate me like the netizens. I get lots of threats and terror."

My mouth immediately went silent, even though I wanted to protest against Adam's behaviour in defending the rapist. The rapist should be castrated. The 'sausages' were cut up and made into dog food. But if this is the story, I can only stroke my chest.

"Is that clear, or do you have something to ask?"

I automatically raised my hand, so it's like in class, right?

"Please." Adam's style is also formal.

"What?"

Adam raised an eyebrow at my magical question.

"Yes. Then why?"

Yes! Cool.

"If that's the case, it's safe. Later, when we get married, we don't need to ask the court for permission to marry different religions. I'm a pious woman, you know," I said.
