Chapter 6 Memories 2

Devon replied without hesitation, "In a second," as he spun her around and gazed into her shining amber eyes. "My love, you are so beautiful. I want to marry you, have kids with you, and watch our grandchildren grow up together."

Fiona laughed and whispered, "Let's start making them already." But why couldn't he remember her face?

He remembered their happy memories together, but he was also the very cause of her death. And yet, here he was, comforting another woman. His face darkened with sorrow as he recalled their moments together.

"I will find you, my love," he vowed softly. "And when I do, I will never let you go." He sighed, looking down at the woman whose blue hair has spread on his arms, who had fallen asleep in his arms.

He inhaled her scent and couldn't help but feel intoxicated by it ,he loved her scent , she smelt like fresh gardenia flowers. But it couldn't be her. She didn't have the blue bead he gave to Fiona so he could find her more easily.

Why did he feel so drawn to her? He wanted to hate her, but he couldn't. Now, he hated himself. Devon carefully laid Isadora on the bed, knowing he had important matters to attend to.

He called Zarius his left hand man to discuss the situation about the kingdom to deal with and when he was done,he wanted to retire to his chamber. As he walked he was suddenly interrupted by Francis, the King's right-hand man.

"Your Highness," Francis called out, causing Devon to halt in his tracks. "From the looks of it, she isn't the one. If only we could remember her appearance, we would identify her easily," Francis said, referring to Devon's search for someone from the phoenix tribe.

Devon let out a sigh, feeling defeated by his seemingly endless search. "How would I find her now? Where do I start looking? For the past few centuries, I have been searching for someone from the phoenix tribe, and the one person I thought was her wasn't her," Devon lamented.

Francis empathized with his friend's pain, knowing that Devon had been heartbroken since Fiona's death five centuries ago. Despite wanting to spare Devon further pain, Francis knew he couldn't tell him there was no hope. He silently pleaded, "Oh Fiona, where are you? Please come back as soon as possible. Our king is sad."

Devon had always felt a sense of alienation from his family. His father pushed him away, and his mother was never there for him. The only reason he had to live was Fiona. As he retreated to his chamber and laid on his bed, his gaze fell upon. Isadora, the sleeping figure beside him. He couldn't help but marvel at her beauty, admiring her dark blue, plump pink lips, and fair skin.

Despite his admiration for her, Devon couldn't help but feel guilty for his thoughts, as her face reminded him of Fiona's death. He traced her cheek with his hand and whispered, "I wish you were her," before succumbing to a deep slumber.

..... Devon was engaged in a fierce battle. Fiona's eyes shone with power, and her phoenix wings were spread out in full glory. As they clashed, a voice whispered in Fiona's mind, urging her to kill Devon.

She couldn't bring herself to do it."If you can't I will do it for you" the voice whispered and before she knew it she was no longer in control of her own body. Fiona raced towards Devon, and they clashed their swords fiercely.

"I hate you,I will kill you" she muttered. Devon was heartbroken and lost control of his sword. "No, it's a lie. If you truly hate me, then kill me," he pleaded.

"Run,Devon please run"Fiona shouted but Devon feets betrayed him. "This is our destiny. We were never meant to be together." Tears streamed down her face as she brought his hands towards her.

Devon didn't realize he was still holding his sword until she kissed him softly and whispered, "Only you can kill me. My greatest wish was to die in your hands. I always have and will always love you." With that, she used his hand to pierce his sword into her heart, and she fell onto him.

Devon broke down as tears streamed down his face. "Fiona, Fiona, please wake up," he wept on the battlefield. "Please wake up. I love you. I forgive you. Please, please don't do this to me. I will save you, I promise" he said.

Fiona's body started fading away like ashes, and Devon blamed himself for her death not because she used his hands to kill her but because he was the very reason she did what she did if he knew he would have ran when she asked him too.

Isadora gently woke him up from his nightmare, wiping the sweat from his face. "It's okay,.I too always have bad dreams, but no one was there to comfort me. You're lucky to have someone to comfort you." She pulled him in her embrace, patting him gently on the back.

"You look sad," she said, looking into his eyes. She pulled his lips up, making him seem as if he was smiling, and he couldn't help but feel grateful for her comfort.

"Thank you," he said softly, trying to hold back his tears. "Go back to sleep now," he said, his heart fluttering with her gesture. "I will when you do first. It's my duty to ensure that you're fine," she said.

He wished that his nightmare was just a dream, but instead, it was the harsh reality that destiny played on him. Devon pretended to be asleep until she slept, and he turned to look at the sleeping figure next to him, sighing. After some moments of thinking he slept.
