Chapter 6 Solace

Robert pounder as the musical player created an ambient atmosphere. He had no chance with Sarah, his father had upset him at dinner, and Carmen had brought back memories. He didn't want to think about Rita, their real mother; Orva was now their mother.

"Orva, Orva, Orva," he howled in defiance. His Orva had taken the place of their mother by his father.

Robert threw a kick and fell backwards.

"Carmen, what the fu..."

"Sorry," she responded, waving her hands in front of him.

"You would have heard me if you weren't blasting those garbage". She added

"Garbage?" He pressed the player's stop button. It was a music by Taylor Swift.

She put her clench hands on her hips and moved her weight to one side. "You can at least dance to my music".

He smiled despite his efforts not to "I can't dance, but maybe you can".

"Maybe I'll teach you if you're nice to me."

"Yeah, whatever... In any case, what do you want?"

Carmen changed the towel turban that was on her head. He looked her up and down, "Carmen, it's obvious where you came from".

"I came out of the shower and saw the light on down here, so I..." The lotion she had just applied had left most of her long, olive legs exposed and shining. The smell made him anxious.

"Carm...!!!"

"Carm...??" she said. " You no longer refer to me in that way anymore"

"Yeah, so." He replied.

"It makes me think of when we were kids...Anyway, I thought you might be offended that dad once more said no to race".

"I am. He confuses me. I can't run, but Patty can?".

Carmen wiggled her toes and crossed her legs. She trailed off and placed her hands in the small of her back. "Patty is his niece. I'm not sure. He's fine, as you know".

He collapsed backwards onto the couch and said, "Yuck, don't I? Carmen, get a larger towel, or why not wear a robe."

She sat next to him and said, "Yeah, I know... You kinda took after Dad. It's not important. At any rate, who minds?"

He realized how close he was to seeing her goodies when he looked at her folded leg. "All things considered, I don't...but father would kill you assuming he got you down here with me...you know."

Carmen raised her eyebrows. "Well, imagine if he had seen us as children, when Orva was the babysitter and would have let us go naked if we wanted to".

"If he knew what she let us get away with... he would have a heart attack. Those were by far the best times. You made me consider them today". Robert said.

"In those revealing shorts and tank tops...I bet you wish she still go without a bra".

"Carmen...!!! she's our mother...now."

"Yeah, like that changes how hot she was."

"What's the matter with you?" He stated.

"I ask that all the time...What if she weren't our stepmother?"

"She is, so assuming anything is really pointless."

"You lack creativity." She scowled.

"I guess not... You were always the one who thought of ways to get us in trouble. We did some weird things, you know. It was strange, even though I hadn't thought about it in years. How on earth did we find out about those things?". He stated.

"It was simply commonplace childish stuff, investigating," she said. "When we get older, we'll laugh about it".

"Glad we grew out of it and before you get us into trouble once more, you should head upstairs".

He followed her until she reached the halfway point of the stairs.

"Your legs are nice".

Carmen laughed and said, "Thanks."
