Chapter 2 Cocaine

CHAPTER 2

CURTIS'S POV

"No, we can no longer work with you, I'm very sorry. I don't want to invest in something that I'm not certain of the success. My rival company came to you and you failed them. So I'm not going to try"

"But sir, just hear me out"

"Take care Curtis. I hope you'll Excel. But it's not with my help"

My last and final investor hung up on me, damn!

There's nothing I can even think of, I don't know anyone else that would help out. This is it. My company is folding up.

I heard a knock on the door, it was my secretary.

I made a motion with my hands for him to come in so I could hear what he had to say.

"We're going to have to leave sir"

"We've all handed in our resignation letters"

My secretary walked in and dropped the resignation letters of almost everyone in the company.

My employees were frustrated and they decided to leave the company because I could no longer pay them.

I rushed into a big deal and lost it, consequently losing a handful of investors. No one wanted to work with me anymore even after I tried everything to revive my company.

I couldn't believe my employees would do something like this to me.

Even after I paid them all handsomely when everything was all rosy.

It's funny how people turn against you when you've suddenly lost it all.

He looked at me for the last time before he left my office.

His parting words were...

"good luck sir"

I can't believe everything that is happening. I literally worked my way to the top only to come crashing down again. This is really unfair.

Why me?

After everything I've had to do.

My decent Enterprise! Fuck!!

My childhood definitely wasn't funny.

Mom left me and put me up for adoption.

I guess no one ever did since I landed in an orphanage.

I started from scratch, with a vision.

Now because I don't have anyone to help and I'm just starting out, they think they can abandon me??

I just sat on my chair, speechless for a while.

The offices were freshly painted for sure and I made everyone comfortable.

I felt like I would explode if I sat down on my seat any longer so I decided to take a walk around my building, supposedly now empty. I saw my secretary's desk, all cleared up.

I came out to the big work hall where all my employees had their various desks and departments allocated to them.

It was empty too.

No one was there. No one was willing to stand by a newly poor CEO.

The company just folded up. They didn't even bother to find out if I could still make it, I guess they were scared for their salaries.

I was about to turn back to my office to take some things from the office so I could head back home or something when I saw a ray of light coming from the conference room. I took a few subtle steps. Just to know who was there. As I was about to turn the knob of the door I heard voices, two ladies. They were mocking and laughing at me. It was my employees. For sure they'll still leave after they are done so I didn't even want to see them anymore. I just needed release.

So I went back to the office immediately, took a few things and headed out.

I turned back to look at my building once more before I flagged down a taxi which sped off.

Apparently I had to sell my car a while back to pay my staff.

I'll make everything right!

I'll succeed and rise again, no matter what it takes!

My mom will hear about me anywhere she is and wish she never abandoned me!!

Alive or dead!

Gigi's POV

Carol left me right there by the place we were eating and went deep into the abandoned place so she could find out what was going on. I began to have anxiety issues after a while because I didn't see her. I was scared but I still gathered courage to follow her route to check up on her.

Soon enough I heard footsteps approaching and I thought she was the one. I felt relief for a split second because right in that spot, I locked eyes with my supervisor. He was holding a powdery substance in a parcel.

Cocaine??

I shouted loudly without even thinking and my supervisor ran up to me. He gave me a deadly slap that made me fall to the ground.

"If you don't keep quiet about this I'll have you killed, you hear me!"

He said and left, but that wasn't important, what had happened to Carol? Where was she?

I was scared so I managed to get up and ran back to the building.

I was thinking about Carol all that time hoping she would come back, I wanted to smile when I saw her coming eventually but I got upset too.

Her curiosity had put us in trouble once again. She tried to talk to me but I just sent her away so I won't burst out crying in her arms like I always do.

She looked disoriented and I really hoped she'll be okay.

She left and I saw her trying to wash up her mouth, she also entered the supervisors office.

That crazy evil man!

She came out soon after and told me she was leaving. I was shook and I hugged her, shunning away every anger I had towards her. Whatever I went through couldn't possibly be worse than what she went through. So I understood why she wanted to leave, even though I pretended as though I didn't want to know.

Eventually, she left us. She left F and G breweries with wobbly legs.

I felt nothing but pity for her because I knew how we struggled to get this job.

Now she's lost it.
