"A white bodcoyon dress, I don't like fancy dresses either but they are classy." Diana replied.
"I hope it will go well."
"Don't worry Sweetheart, I will be there for you, I am sure boys are super into you." Diana said.
"That's not what making me worry, you know I am bad at socializing."
"Huh, boys don't care if you are, for them what matters is your look and you are cute." Diana said.
"I know certain someone who will never fall for looks." I spoke.
"Don't tell me you have a boyfriend." Diana said as she sat on my bed staring at me.
"I don't have any. It's just that I know him, he does not seem to be attracted." I replied, why was I speaking on the topic, it was not something that mattered.
"Who is he? I am curious." Diana asked.
"You know him; he is our classmate. Mr. Rude." I replied.
Diana sighed, "Look dear, he is interested but he does not show it. I am pretty sure he will slowly show his true colors, let's see today." She replied. "I will make him talk to me."
I looked at her, I was about to oppose the conviction but then, seeing her spirits it was better to keep quiet. She was persistent, once she decided on something she completely gets it.
Diana was about to say something when her phone rang. "I will get the call." She said and headed out.
I looked at my phone, and unknowingly I went on the chat with him. Sound fun, was his last message. After the meet it was sure that he had opened up a bit with me. He was nothing like his looks. I looked at the picture we had clicked the other day, it was not that good, my phone was an old model so.
The door opened and Diana entered, I put my phone down. She was a bit tense.
"Call from home? Something serious?" I asked.
She sat beside me and said, "Last night one of our family friend's daughters was kidnapped, though she returned unharmed but Dad told me to be careful."
"Oh, I see." I replied, the thing was serious, our city was not known for crimes as such this was the first time, I heard about anything as such.
"Don't worry dear, we will be fine, it's not like we are going to be next." Diana said. She was back to normal, and somewhere she was right. She picked up and examined a dress, "We have just to be careful, Papa said that he will send some bodyguards just to be on safe side." She added.
"He is right on his place; the party will go on late." I replied to her conviction, I looked at a red dress, it was beautiful. Unlike the other half skirts, this dress was a one piece, I pointed my finger towards it.
"Yeah, it will look good on you." Diana said as she picked it up and kept it before me. "It will make you feel comfortable too." She added. I smiled and nodded; she knew exactly what was inside in my head.
We finalized the dress after a trial, Diana told me that she was going to wear a black dress. I knew if it was for her, she would definitely choose the best, considering her fashion sense. Suddenly my phone beeped. I checked it was from him, Mr. Rude. I jumped in surprise. My sudden reaction did not escape the sight of Diana.
"A message from your crush?" She asked as she crawled the bed full of clothes to reach me.
"No way, it is from Mr. Rude." I replied as I opened it. Are you coming to the party? The text asked.
"Oh, see I told you; it is only matter of time till he shows his true colors. All boys are desperate." She said flicking her hair behind her back. Maybe she was right, I looked at the message.
Yes, I am. What about you? I texted him back. I put the phone aside but it beeped suddenly.
"Fast replies? Huh, maybe he wants a duet with you." Diana teased me. I slapped her playfully.
I don't think I will be able to make it, I thought if you were free on that day, we could have been able to wrap out the project. The long message described his lack of interest.
"Looks like he is not desperate but work oriented." I said showing her the message. Diana read it but she was not surprised.
"These are just put ups; they want to put an impression on you showing that he is so work oriented. You don't need to play into his hands, don't reply immediately, make him wait, he will take it otherwise." She said, she seemed like a protective sister and I loved her this side. I smiled.
I looked at the phone, his display picture was an R enveloped in fire. It seemed fierce yet clam and mysterious at the same time just exactly like him, worth looking yet hidden. I sighed.
"Take full rest, tomorrow afternoon, we will go to spa and have some skin care. The party comes only once and I don't want to be looked down." She said as she turned to leave, as usual she was about to leave. I looked at her, it would be lonely after she left. "Sorry sweetheart I need to go, please wrap the things for me." She said as she picked her hand bag and waved me. I waved back and she left.
I waved to her through the window, it was dusk. Her car was standing near the gate, she waved at me as she boarded in it. Suddenly my heart beat rose, my eyes rolled over to the garden before even if I had no intention of doing so, they rolled till the stopped upon a figure, the fading light was enough to make him visible, even though I felt like, I knew him. The street lamps begun to lit and then the lamp just above him flashed light on him, no doubt it was him.
Wearing a black long-sleeved hoodie, he was staring at the car and then suddenly he shifted his gaze towards me. He was quite distant yet I thought our gaze met. The breeze blew and the curtain fell, it took me a moment to move it from m sight of vision, once it was moved aside, I looked back on the same spot but he was not there. I looked through the garden but he was nowhere. For an instant I thought that it was a mirage but my mind refused it, no doubt it was him, the guy she had thought about just few moments, a handsome mystery, Darren.
