Chapter 9 Infidelity

Flauber arrived tired at his mansion in Texas. He didn't see anyone, and decided that he would take a shower before looking for Erick and the women. One of the maids decided to accommodate him in an en-suite guest room and left after handing him a towel and soap. Flauber then went under the shower. He didn't hear when the door was opened, as his back was turned and all he could think about was getting something to eat and sleeping for a few hours in a comfortable bed. However, he felt watched. It bothered him. He was in a bathroom. He was supposed to have total privacy.

He looked back and saw big almond eyes watching him in admiration. She stood with her arms crossed, staring intensely directly at his male organ, and didn't realize that he had already noticed her. Flauber unconsciously looked at her for the first time as a woman, and not as a child or as his sister-in-law, and noticed the eye-catching curves of her body. Astrid had become a beautiful woman. Why hadn't he noticed this before? Flauber turned off the shower and wrapped himself from the waist down with the towel. He wasn't embarrassed, but was even amused that his movement to grab the towel had had an effect on Astrid. She moved out of the way and went to the bedroom where she waited for him still in silence with a serious face. As soon as he reached the room, he began to dry himself in front of her, who opened her mouth in outrage, and he, amused by the whole thing, began to change silently, but with a smile on his face.

"Did something happen to my sister?" Astrid asked after he finished dressing, still a little knocked out by the sight she had of him naked and especially the feelings burning in her chest for him.

"Your sister is fine. She had to have some tests done and we won't know the results for a few days." He said not being able to stop staring at her. How beautiful she looked.

"I... So what are you doing here?" Astrid asked ecstatically. She was no longer a child and knew when she saw desire in a man's eyes. He had never looked at her like that. She didn't know why, but now there was an attraction between them that was almost palpable.

"Astrid... I would rather talk about this, together with your parents. For my coming here concerns the three of you." He said, staring at her inviting lips. How had he not noticed this unusual beauty before? And why was he attracted to her if he was in love with her sister?

"All right... They're having a snack in the dining room. Maybe you'd like to accompany me there." She said confused, but knowing that the priority was to respect her sister's marriage, even though she didn't care about that. She didn't see marriage as something so sacred that one couldn't have other partners. And Flauber really was much more interesting now. The money was good for him.

"Ah! That would be great. I'm starving..." unintentionally, that last sentence had double meaning and Flauber saw in Astrid's eyes that she had realized that.

"Then let's go." Astrid said ignoring what he said, but aware of his presence right behind her the whole time. She knew he was looking at her body, but she couldn't show that it was messing with her. If she approached him at that moment, he would back off. For him, their attraction shouldn't be as strong as the vows he made at their wedding. Maybe she would break them somehow.

The two of them followed the corridors until they reached the stairs and descended into the dining room. As soon as she saw them, Mrs. Cleuza was very happy. She knew that the time had come to go and live her life freely.

"Flauber!" She said contentedly as Astrid and he took their places at the table. "How nice to see you again! How's Sigrid doing?"

"She's fine... I think you should know that she is having a health problem and I intend for you to be on her side, as family. She's going to need it."

"What's wrong with her? Are you sure it's not pregnancy paranoia? Her mother was always giving me a hard time when she was pregnant." Erick said grumpily as usual.

Flauber looked angrily at Erick. He wanted to punch him to break his nose, but he knew it would cause Astrid grief, so he just replied in a terse voice.

"My wife is not doing as you said. She really is ill. I ask that you never refer to her in that disrespectful manner again in my presence or there will be consequences."

"Oras, you want to come and order me around inside my own home? I'm even receiving you very politely, since you didn't even tell me you were coming, and it's very discourteous to visit someone without first preparing them for that visit." Erick confronted him, ignoring the threat in Flauber's words and voice.

"You are not in your home!" Flauber said firmly. "That's my house. I'm not trespassing. I have every right to be here. I don't need to tell a servant when I'm going into my own house."

"I think you have forgotten our agreement. As long as Astrid remains single and living here, this house belongs to me."

"No. You should reread our agreement. You will have enjoyment of the mansion and the earnings from the farm as long as Astrid does not marry. There is nothing written in our agreement that I cannot visit what is mine. But don't bother. I won't stay long. I don't like to be in your presence either. I have come to settle another matter. My wife desires the presence of her mother and sister with you. She is going to have a hard time and it will be very important that her mother and sister are around when she needs them."

"What's wrong with Sigrid?" Mrs. Cleuza asked worriedly. At first she thought it was the way he arranged to get them out of there, but she could sense from his voice that there was indeed gravity in her daughter's condition.

"The doctor will tell us in a few days. We're not sure of anything yet. I can't put you on alert of which we are not yet sure. It wouldn't be fair." Flauber said sincerely. "What I need to know is, are you willing to accompany me?"

"And why not me?" Erick complained. "After all, I'm the one who raised that little girl."

"I don't think your presence would be beneficial to her. You never gave her a father's affection and now she no longer needs you. My love filled the need she had for love for years, to have love from a father, but it was your choice to deny her that. Now she does not desire your presence. And on the other hand, in our agreement, you cannot be absent from the farm and the care of her, for more than three days."

"Hmm. Right. A bunch of ingrates. The mother, I made the sacrifice of marrying her, when no other man would, the daughter lived under my roof, ate and drank from my food, and you, when you were still nobody, I called you friend. And that's what I get in return..."

"You had not very honest reasons for getting married, and Sigrid actually lived off the money her grandfather sent, because between you and me, you are a terrible steward. As for me, well, you offered Sigrid to me and if I remember correctly you even said when I was poor that you didn't want to see her in your house anymore. So I see no reason for us to have any regard for you, because everything you've done has been for your own interests."

Erick stared at him with hatred in his eyes.

"I really don't care about that little girl. Her mother will be happy to go some time without having to look at that indifferent face. I won't be missed at all. Now Astrid I will not allow you to go. For I know that in our agreement she has to be living here."

"I want to go Daddy!" Astrid said with her usual defiance. "I have nothing to do with this ridiculous agreement of yours. I will not abandon my sister at a time like this. It will be good for her if I am there to support her. And I don't care about the fight and the agreement between you."

"Astrid is right. And besides, our agreement is very specific. You will only leave here when Astrid gets married. She's not getting married. She's just going to keep your sister company." Flauber said conciliatory. He didn't want to have any trouble getting them out of there. Then he would sort out Erick's situation in that mansion.

Erick took a deep breath.

"Okay then. When do you plan to leave?"

"Today yet. I want to get just a few hours of sleep before we go."

"So be it. While you sleep, Cleuza and Astrid will have time to pack your bags."

"Sigrid has asked that you take only your personal belongings. She intends to go shopping with the two of you once you arrive." Flauber said and remembered his hunger. He ate some cookies with coffee and then excusing himself, retreated to his room where as soon as he lay down he fell asleep. What he didn't know was that Astrid had gotten to know an herb from one of the maids who was an Indian, a native of some tribe over there. This herb was hallucinogenic and she prepared it as she was taught and put it in Flauber's coffee.

He saw Astrid come in and meet him as she removed her clothes. The sight of that naked body immediately turned him on. He looked her up and down and had to confess that he had never seen such a perfect body. He took his eyes, with some difficulty, off that body and stared into her eyes. Those big almond eyes. She came to him and lay down beside him. Flauber had no doubt that he was dreaming. He took off his clothes and enjoyed that body rejoicing in her moans of pleasure. He possessed her, as if that body belonged to him. As if it had always been his, and only now had been given to him. After the act was done, he could no longer stay away from her. He embraced her and in a few minutes he was loving her again. She didn't complain, she seemed to feel the same pleasures as he did, and she was enjoying it. He had never felt so complete. He was intoxicated by her smell. That moment repeated once more, until he fell asleep.

Astrid stayed a while longer and sucked in his fresh bath smell. She delighted in that. When he woke up, he would have a lot on his mind. She herself didn't know what she really wanted, but she knew now that Sigrid had received much more than she deserved. In addition to a man who could satisfy her in bed, she was going to have a child and was swimming in money. It really was the life she herself deserved and should be living. Now she saw Sigrid as the usurper she was. She could have left Flauber to her. When he arrived at the farm, he gave her no room to try to win him over. She took all of his attention right away. And that was not fair. She would find a way to change this. The first step had already been taken. Now she would live in the mansion with him, and demand to be treated like a queen and have all the luxury she deserved. She didn't care if she was just a mistress. But her price would be high. She knew that because of the herb she had given him to drink, she would not be able to get pregnant, because there were components in the herb that drastically and temporarily decreased the chance of him getting someone pregnant, but if one day this happened, she would demand to inherit most of his fortune, to leave him the child and go away somewhere where she could find a husband who would not know about the stain on her past. She took a deep breath envisioning her future of luxury and slowly got out of bed so as not to wake him. She knew that the effect of the herb would end after a sleep. And if he caught her there, it would not be good for his plans. She would look for the maid tribe that was in the same town Flauber was going to take her to and join the cult, so she could learn things that would always make her attractive to Flauber that he couldn't resist. She thought smiling and on tiptoe went to her room to pack her bags.

Flauber woke up completely rested and even satiated. He remembered his dream. He shouldn't think of such things even in a dream. After all he loved his wife with all his heart and Astrid was his sister-in-law. He owed them respect. Astrid was beautiful and would soon be owned by another man. That thought bothered him a little. But he could not stay with both sisters. It would be immoral. However, he could not deny that he was feeling satiated. He prepared to get up and realized that he was naked. Fear took over his entire interior. He looked to the side that in his supposed dream Astrid would be lying on, but it was empty. He threw the blanket aside and saw blood on the white sheet. Desperate, he put both hands on his head. Could she still be sleeping? He got up and quickly got his clothes and dressed. A knock at the door made him aware that he had done something very bad and that he should hide it and never talk about it. He took the blanket and threw it over the blood. Then he told the person to come in. It was Erick. Flauber looked at him suspiciously. Could it be that he had convinced Astrid to turn herself in to him, so that he could blackmail her? Looking at him suspiciously he sat on the bed waiting for Erick to say what he came for.

"Since you're taking my wife and daughter, you should leave some money with me, because I'm broke and need to have some company to replace my wife."

He said that so quietly that Flauber felt disgusted with him. Did Erick think he didn't know that they hadn't slept together in years? He wouldn't see a dime of him, except for the income from the farm that had been agreed to be his until Astrid was married.

"No. If you can't manage the amount you receive, I won't be the one to support you. You won't see any money from me beyond what was agreed upon." Flauber also spoke reassuringly.

"Then I will not allow her to go. I am her husband and I have power over her."

"Erick... If I were you I wouldn't even try to stop her. Because I can pay a set of lawyers to free her from you in a few days. She won't refuse my offer. You don't have enough money to beat me in a lawsuit. And you don't have the knowledge. And besides, you would also lose the value of our agreement. You would go back to living on your farm.

At this point Mrs. Cleuza entered the room and looked suspiciously at the two men staring at each other as if they were going to beat each other. She then turned back to Flauber.

"We are ready. What time do you intend to leave?"

"Right now. I only ask that you leave me alone while I pack my bag. Mrs. Cleuza can wait for me with Astrid in the living room and I'll be right down.... And as for you, Erick, have you made your decision?

Erick didn't answer and left, slamming the door with unnecessary force. Mrs. Cleuza smiled at Flauber.

"He came to ask you for money, didn't he?"

"Yes."

"That man has no concert." Mrs. Cleuza said and walked away.

Flauber went to the door and locked it from the inside. Then he went to the bed and ripped off the bloodstained sheet and folded it and put it in his briefcase. Then he went downstairs to the living room and as soon as he spotted Astrid, all the emotions he felt with her in his arms burned in his heart. He couldn't have her. It was not right what he had done. But undeniably it had been good. But he knew he loved her. Not the way he loved Sigrid, but it was love too. Her infidelity was something that bothered him more than the feeling of satiety and ecstasy itself. It was strange to identify what he felt now. It was a mixture of shame, joy, sadness and love. She didn't look him in the eye when he arrived in the room and they went outside and got into one of Flauber's cars, since he had come in a rental, which made him think about renting a garage in town so he wouldn't have that problem anymore. The trip continued in silence. Nobody mentioned the fact that Erick didn't show up to say goodbye. It was as if it were commonplace behavior. He arrived at the airport where there was already a driver waiting for him to take the car to the garage he had rented. They waited half an hour and were able to board. Flauber looked at Mrs. Cleuza and her joy was all over his face. She didn't even complain about the trip. Astrid was afraid to be on a plane. She was very tense. Flauber felt like sitting next to her and consoling her. But then he rebuked himself intimately. He had to leave her alone. He couldn't do this to Sigrid. He then leaned back in his seat and picked up a newspaper to read.

Astrid was terrified and also tense. It was the first time she had ever traveled by plane. After departure, she closed her eyes and only opened them again when she realized that she didn't even feel like she was inside an airplane anymore. She looked to the sides and saw Flauber in front of her. She smiled as she remembered his burning face when he saw her in the living room after they had made love. He looked like a teenager afraid of his mother's scolding after doing something wrong. She leaned her head back in her seat and eventually fell asleep.

After hours of driving they arrived at Flauber's mansion. On the way there by car, Astrid kept talking about the beauty of the place and marveling at the buildings and the frightening amount of stores. Dona Cleuza and Flauber just listened to her with a smile on their lips. She looked like a child. But her biggest surprise was when they arrived at the mansion. She found everything too modern. They entered the house and smelled food. Astrid and Mrs. Cleuza left their suitcases in the living room and headed for what they believed to be the kitchen. They had traveled during the night and it was probably time for lunch now. They were hungry and eager to hug Sigrid. When they found the dining room Sigrid was not alone. Astrid and Mrs. Cleuza froze in place. Both recognized the man who was accompanying Sigrid. Flauber also arrived and his smile froze on his face when he saw Sigrid's father. It wasn't hard to deduce that, after knowing Mrs. Cleuza's story. Astrid was teary-eyed and rushed out of the dining room. Mrs. Cleuza was still glued in place. Flauber went after Astrid because he knew she was very moody and could do something foolish. Sigrid and Visbur also stared at them in surprise and silence. The animated conversation from before seemed to be in the distant past. Sigrid got up and went to her mother. Mrs. Cleuza looked at her curiously and without saying anything Sigrid guided her with her arm around her waist to the table where she made her sit facing Visbur.
