Chapter 8 Of Course A Couple Should Live In The Same Room!

In the bar's private room.

Elijah's friend Manuel Garrett nudged him and said, "Dude, you're so heartless! How could you leave your wife alone on your wedding night?"

Ignoring Manuel's teasing, Elijah calmly sipped from his glass of wine.

Manuel was born into an incomparably rich family that was engaged in the oil business.

Five years ago, he met Elijah and was awed by Elijah's business brain and means. From then on, they became friends and he followed Elijah's lead uncomplainingly.

Seeing that Elijah wasn't saying anything, Manuel pursed his lips and asked, "What do you think of your new wife?"

Upon thinking about Kaylee's scarred face, a hint of interest appeared in his eyes. "She's... Interesting."

Manuel was shocked. "This is the first time I heard you say that a woman is interesting. Did you fall in love with her at first sight?"

Elijah rolled his eyes. "How could I fall for a woman who married me for a purpose? You know I'm forced to marry her."

Besides, he was already in love with someone else.

Although she was no longer in this world, he'd never forget her.

Safe within the confines of the private room, Elijah dropped the act as a frivolous playboy. Now, he looked cold and indifferent.

Manuel knew that Elijah wasn't actually a playboy. On the contrary, he knew how powerful his friend was.

Elijah wasn't as simple as he seemed. In fact, he was the president of MT Healthcare.

MT Healthcare was a very mysterious company. It was engaged mainly in the medical field and was very powerful, but the outside world knew little about it.

Knowing how arrogant and domineering his sister was, Elijah sighed and asked, "Did she bully Kaylee?"

"No! Mrs. Stephens beat up Miss Stephens! And she locked the door, so we can't get in!"

Manuel overheard the butler's anxious words clearly. Seeing that Elijah helplessly stood up to go back to clean up this mess, Manuel sighed. "Your wife really is interesting."

When Elijah got home, he heard a shrill scream from one of the rooms.

It sounded like Haisley.

He knocked on the door. When the door was opened, he met Kaylee's expressionless eyes.

She was dressed neatly. Haisley, on the other hand, was a mess. Her face was swollen, her hair was messy, and her clothes were wrinkled and dirty.

With a livid face, Haisley glared at Kaylee with unmasked resentment, but she didn't dare to do anything. She had learned that she was no match for Kaylee at all.

When Elijah saw this scene, his eyebrows shot up in surprise.

It was his first time to see such a pitiful-looking Haisley.

"What happened? Why'd you two get into a fight?"

Glancing at Haisley, Kaylee snorted, "Because of her."

The arrogant Haisley didn't intend to admit her mistake, so she pretended to be wronged and said between sobs, "Elijah, your stupid wife dared to beat me like this as soon as she married into our family! You have to do something!"

Rolling her eyes, Kaylee calmly told him the truth. "She threw away my things. Things that are very important to me."

Haisley shouted at her angrily, "Your things are trash! Why can't I throw them away?"

Trash? Kaylee's expression darkened.

She held out her hand and dropped a few strands of hair in front of Haisley. With a cold face, she warned in an unfriendly tone, "Haisley Stephens, if you're ever rude to me again, I promise I won't stop until you're bald."

Remembering how Kaylee had yanked those hairs out of her head mercilessly just now, Haisley shivered and shut up sulkily.

At this time, the butler had already retrieved the things that Haisley had thrown away. Looking at the Arabic medical books among Kaylee's things, Elijah was a little surprised. "You can read Arabic?"

With an expressionless face, Kaylee gathered her things and said coldly, "It's none of your business."

Then she walked up to the butler and said politely, "Please arrange a room for me."

Still wanting to find a chance and see the birthmark on her back, Elijah stopped the butler. "No way."

Frowning, Kaylee turned to him and asked, "What do you mean?"

Elijah winked at her and smiled frivolously. "Aren't we a married couple now? Of course we should live in the same room!"

Then he leaned closer to her and whispered, "Besides, we got married for convenience. You wouldn't want people to find out that we slept separately on the first night of our marriage, right?"

Hearing this, Kaylee had to agree. "You're right. Then I'll take the bed and you can sleep on the sofa. Thank you for your cooperation!"
