Chapter 5 INQUIRED

JERRY'S POV

It's 9 pm already and I need to catch some sleep but my room is too dirty for a hygienic person like me. Yes, I've always been taught by my late mother that cleanliness is godliness.

I rose to sweep my house and make some arrangements. I started by rolling the mat off the floor and then to my wardrobe to rearrange my clothes. I sweep the floor and changed into my nighties. I spread my mat and is about to lie down when I heard a knock on the door. I thought I was imagining that I decided to sleep. Before I could close my eyes the knock came again, this time serious and louder.

"Who is at the door? Do you not have the manners to knock on a door and wait for the owner?."

With all my questions the person didn't do anything and I was too blind to realize that my fellow maids wouldn't Mute my words.

" Ok since you are dumb when you are done knocking please retire for me I want to have some sleep."

The knock didn't stop coming. I decided to wake up and attack the person with all of me.

I'm at my door, I loosed the lock bolt from inside and press the door handle

" Can't someone just rest in this park even at night? "

I pressed and push the door open

"What! What..."

I became surprised

I couldn't say anything when I realized the person that has been standing at my door for more than twenty minutes is my Luna.

I didn't know how to start with the apologies that I bent my face down for a while.

"I'm sorry lun.." before I could finish she cut me in.

"Not to worry." She said

For a while I begin to wonder why she is acting nice.

Come with me." She added.

I would say she is not the real Luna Debi to be ignored by mere maids and no consequences attached. I became curious as to where, how, and where my punishment lies.

"To where exactly, please? It's late and..."

" Can you shut up? Yes! Just close that gutter you call mouth and come with me," she said.

I couldn't say no, nor asked for another chance to change from my nighties.

I gently closed the door behind me and followed her.

LUNA DEBI'S POV

He is just very lucky we need his help, if not he would have seen the worst part of me today. Imagined consecutively knocking on the door and he stays inside to alter words I can't hear.

At some points, I thought he wasn't in the inn. What kind of a maid will hear his door knocks more than thrice that he wouldn't wake up to attend to whoever will be?

He finally woke up to open the door and the look and his face told him he was shocked.

He started to apologize but I overlooked it, I didn't come for that.

He was happy towards my kindness and to him, The Luna has changed to what they wanted.

I was never done with him before his conclusion. I needed to take him to the Alpha like he did demand.

His face changed to a curious and fragile one as he unknowingly followed me into the living room.

ALPHA BRYAN'S POV

I've been waiting for what seems like an hour but the Luna is yet to return from the errand I set her. As if they said Jerry's house is some building away from mine it took her minutes for her to fetch him.

I've been spying through the window yet no trace of them coming. At some point, I wished I had embarked on the journey myself. With the letter in my hand, I tossed from one corner to another brainstorming on what would be the possible solution. For what seemed like seconds I decided to spy through the window.

"Ehmmm... finally, they are coming."

" I hope Jerry will have the solution to this. I mean he will, my problem should be if he will willingly lead me on how to go about it peacefully. And if he refuses? I will still get it from him the hard way."

I need to finalize everything before I return to the Stanford cooperative company where I work. Their break duration will soon be over."

I heard the door pushed open and I decided to act as if I wasn't bothered about the letter. I take a seat wearing a smiling face.

" Welcome Jerry, please have a seat."

"No Alpha I will stand." He said.

Don't bother Jerry, I said you should sit on one of the couches. Find yourself lucky and worthy, sit."

He sat down wearing a surprised face.

JERRY'S POV

This man is so full of pride.

First, he started by acting as if everything is alright and now I should find myself worthy.

I wished for once in my life the kingship would be taken away from him and let me show him how to treat humans.

I had to sit and fold my hands into my armpit.

All these while Luna was confusingly tossing around the room.

"Luna, sit down! Sit down and behave as an adult." Says the Alpha.

LUNA DEBI'S POV

My issue with the Alpha right now is he doesn't want to hit the nail on the head. Who cares if Jerry sits, stands, or lies on the ground? In as much as he gives answers to our questions we are good.

I decided to take a seat as the alpha said.

I sat closer to Jerry for easy hearing.

"ALPHA BRYAN'S POV

I didn't know how to initiate the conversation. My mind was too engulfed to think straight. I've been looking into Jerry's eyes but he refused to maintain contact with me.

Can we start already.?" Said the Luna

"Yes!."

As if I waited for her to give me approval, I located the appropriate words for the conversation.

"Jerry, thank you for accepting to deny yourself some sleep to respect my call."

" Ok, let me not beat about the bush. You were here when a letter vendor whom I know to always deliver messages to my late father came today with a letter he said the sender has chosen to be anonymous and I'm aware you also know the person being that you have lived in this park for years.

"Yes, Alpha I do know the person very well. Is there anything you wish me to do for you?" Said, Jerry.

That is the question I've longed for him to ask me and here it is.

" yes. I mean, yes!"

JERRY'S POV

So a day has finally come that I'm valued and treated with respect.

Imagine the Alpha starting a conversation with words of Thanksgiving towards me.

Eh, I will sit till the end at least to know what calms a lion in the jungle being that he is the king of the jungle.

Finally, the long-awaited words are aired out. I would have loved to say no to all of his words but not for the sake of his Late father who so helped my life and trusted me and for the sake of the park, her falling is my falling. I agreed to help.

I turned to Luna and she was already wearing teary eyes and had her forehead supported by her right hand and her left hand placed on her waist.

What did the letter entail? I asked pretending not to know what the content is all about.

I've lived in the park for years and during his late father's reign, I was very close to him. I know everything concerning Alphaship enthronement, its sacrifices, and how it can be done.

"Alpha I beseech you to read the letter aloud to my hearing".

He began with the first sentence written on the paper cover and then to the body of the letter.

He read the first line then the second line and was about to read the third line when I completed the contents for him. He was shocked but didn't ask any questions about how I knew about the contents.

ALPHA BRYAN'S POV

"I don't care about how he knew the content of the letter, my main concern now is what is the solution."

I turned to Luna and she nod her head in approval

" What do I use for the sacrifice and how would I render the sacrifice?"

He looked me in the eyes and laughed.

JERRY'S POV

I laughed at his words because I knew he would get to the point of asking me such. And now he does.

"Quite simple my Alpha. On the night of a full moon, you will need to offer blood sacrifices with a lady with gold eyes. They are known to be extra different in terms of speed, power, strength, and much more from us."

"Saying all of these without a sacrificial item is a waste of time."

"You have fewer days until the end of your working break."

"Begin with the SEARCH."
