Chapter 4 Lorenzo (POV)

I just made a date with my angel. I have dreamt of her since I first laid eyes on her. It was actually four years ago, when I first saw her. I had checked out the property since we knew her uncle had been killed. Yes, we found it recently it was a hit. It was actually a rival gang wanting to move into the territory on the warehouse district. Someone had planted a car to be serviced, with drugs in. They went to the garage that night and killed Cassidy's uncle. They made it look like a robbery. But they idiots left the car there.

The abandoned car was placed on the auction line after Cassidy filed a police report on the abandoned vehicle. She gained possession and was able to sell it. We bought at the auction and had our people check the prints in the car. We found out that Lazlo Morales, a Mexican gang member from the waterfront district left his fingerprints inside the car. On the door handle. Everything else had been wiped down. Lazlo works for Esai Mendoza, part of the Cuban mafia, also known as Marielitos.

We own fifty percent of the warehouse district, and they own forty-nine percent. They were after Gino's property and the repair shop business itself. When my father found out, he bought out the businesses next to Cassidy. He said he owed it to Gino. Gino was the one who actually 'cleaned' out our trucks for any evidence of blood, drugs or whatever may be left after a job. It looked like the Cubans were trying for a turf war. Gino was caught in the middle.

My father said he remembered Cassidy as the young niece Gino was training to take over his business. My father said she was tenacious. That she is ...definitely. He said she was a beautiful young girl and would eventually grow into a beautiful young woman. He hinted to me.

I was with my father the night Gino was killed. We had received a call from one of our men. He was checking our properties that night and seen the police at Gino's. My father told me to ride with him. We parked across the street. That was the first night I saw my angel. My father saw how hypnotized I was when I saw Cassidy. He knew it then. He told me I had the same look on my face that he did when he first saw my mother.

It was that night, I vowed to watch over her. My father said to me, "Son, do not underestimate her because she is woman. Your mother proved that to me the first week of our marriage."

I knew exactly what my father was talking about. My mother was the ruler of the house and his heart. She was the only one that could make him bend. She was very much the Dona. She was gentle and yet feared by our people. She was my father's equal in everyone's eyes.

Cassidy does not know of the 'clean-up' that her uncle did. So, after Gino's death, he made arrangements with our men to scrub the trucks down and just send to her for servicing. My father knew she was alone. He told me it was my job to make sure nothing happened to her.

Little does my father know, I fell in love with her the minute I saw her. I know she has not dated. She works and stays home. She reads a lot. She works out at home. She does meal prepping. She is in control of her life, her way. I admired that. She did not wear expensive clothes. I noticed she hardly ever wore make-up or jewelry either. I noticed she liked that fifty's look. No make-up, only red lip color, but not shiny. I think they call it matte color.

She did not need anything to adorn her beautiful face. Those ocean blue eyes, blackest, long and natural curled eye lashes. Long black obsidian hair, she kept it in a messy bun when she was working. She would wear this headband like that Rosie Riveter icon. Kissable pouty lips. Her body is firm. She kept it hidden in her mechanic coveralls she wore during work hours.

Sometimes, after hours when I would watch her, she would take the coveralls off, and she would wear shorts and a tank top. I was obsessed with her body. Firm body and voluptuous ass. Her breasts with large and firm, but not too large. Just enough for me to hold one in each hand. I was getting hard just thinking of her. Her legs and arms were defined. She was fit but not over muscular.

She has this one dress that just does her body justice. My cousin, Marco said it was a 1950's rock-billy halter dress something retro like Audrey Hepburn would have worn. All I knew is that it made my mouth water. And I was tongue tied. Marco just laughed at me. Asshole that he was, he knew how I felt about Cassidy. He was always that one to drop off our trucks for servicing. He suggested taking our cars as well. He also said to be careful, she is strong. Like kick your ass strong! He laughed when I told him that I would let her kick my ass.

I remembered there was a retro woman's dress shop downtown. The dress shop was next to one of our restaurants I wanted to take Cassidy. After I left the garage, I drove straight there. I wanted to find out if they would be open when I took Cassidy to lunch. Another stop that I could conveniently take Cassidy shopping. I met with the owner, an elderly lady. Edith, I explained to her on my lunch date with Cassidy, she winked, "I understand totally young man. I like your idea. I will be here anytime you need my assistance. And if your young lady decides to dump you, come and talk to me." Oh, shit did she just hit on me? I smiled and nodded.

I was almost time to pick up Cassidy. I drove over to the garage and noticed everything was locked up except the gate had the chain just hanging with the lock on it, not engaged. I parked outside the property. I opened the gate and walked though, heading to the back of the garage. I walked up and heard voices.

"Do not play around young lady. I need to know where that car is."

"Are you seriously that stupid? Listen carefully. I filed a police report on that car four years ago. I gained possession of the vehicle and I auctioned it off. I had to regain the commission lost on that damn car. I don't keep cars in storage here that don't belong here. Do you understand what I just said? Or do you need me to color a picture for you?"

Then I heard a scuffle and was just about to run inside and save my girl, when I peeked inside. There was a man lying on the ground holding his throat. "No get out of my shop. Before I really hurt. You piece of garbage." Cassidy yelled.

I took that as my cue to walk in, "Well hello there. I hope I am not interrupting your business." I said as I looked at Cassidy, then to the man lying on the ground still holding his throat and moaning.

"No, you are just in time Mister Marchetti, your trucks are done. I was just going to escort this man to the curb. He has overstayed his visit. Isn't that right Lazlo, right?" Cassidy said firmly.

I thought she was going to Kung-fu his ass. Damn she's hot. I walked over to her and stood next to her. "Lazlo, was it? Do you need any assistance? I suggest for you to leave the premises... immediately. I would be to your benefit to move, now." I spoke quietly.

He looked up at my face and knew exactly who I was. He scrambled to get up, "Yes, I'm leaving but this is not over."

"Yes, it is. Unless you had an extra serving of stupid this morning! You come here again, no one will save you." Cassidy hissed out.

She gave me the shivers just standing next to her. I wanted to kiss that smart-ass mouth.

"Are you alright Cara Mia?" she nodded and took off her mechanic's gloves. She walked into her office and checked out her security monitors.

"That piece of garbage has come in twice already asking about some dang car that was left behind. I explained to the idiot before that it is gone. He said something about a flash thingy. I have no idea what he is talking about. Anyway, I will be ready in fifteen minutes if you still want to go to lunch."

"Yes and no worries, Cara Mia, I will wait for you for a lifetime." She blushed and walked upstairs.

I pulled my phone out, "Marco, have someone comb over that car, we bought from Cassidy's auction. It is in the back of warehouse number four. Have them check for a flash drive. It may have information on it that has to do with the turf war with Mendoza. Yes, I am here with Cassidy. It seems out little friend Lazlo has been harassing her about a flash drive."
