Chapter 4 Liars of the first caliber

"Just get them out of here, please," she says massaging her forehead.

The lead officer motions the others cops to take James and Kaitlyn away while he finishes talking to Lauren. The whole time they're both screaming at Lauren about the mistake she's making by doing this. The officer wrote a case number on the back of his business card.

"Call me if they cause you any more trouble. They'll only be in jail until the can post bail, since these aren't considered dangerous crimes. After the appraisal, I'll need you to bring the recordings and results to the station for evidence. It's going to take a while to type up this report so they won't be released until tomorrow at the earliest. Then you'll need to sign the statement for it to go to the prosecutor," the officer says.

"Thank you guys for all your hard work. I'll do the appraisal first thing tomorrow. I'll be seeing you soon, Detective Marcetti," Lauren tells them.

Lauren watches them drive away before entering her house. She's physically, mentally, and emotionally drained from tonight's events. She goes up the stairs to her room. She starts to strip the bedding off the bed, but realizes she can't sleep in it knowing what they had been doing in it. She goes to her bathroom to wash up for bed, and sees evidence that they may have been having sex in there too. Disgusted, she writes a note to her housekeeper before grabbing her stuff to shower in the guest room. 'Aunt Chan, I've discovered that James and Kaitlyn have been having an affair in my house. Please, toss the bedding and order me a new bed. Hire some extra help and deep clean the house top to bottom. I found proof they've been in places other than the bed, (ugh gross). I'll be staying in guest room 4 for now, so keep the noise to a minimum till I get up, Lauren'. She tapes the note to the frig, since that's where she always leaves her instructions. Lauren showers in the guest room. Soon her sadness at James's betrayal is subdued by her exhaustion. She's asleep in minutes. Lauren is woken the next morning by the ringing of her cell phone. She answers without looking at the caller ID.

"You bitch! You fucking bitch! How dare you put your sister in jail. Made up charges just because she's pregnant by your fiancee. You get your ass to the police station and drop those charges, right now, you selfish piece of shit. The child she carries is the next generation. Your grandpa would be devastated if she loses it. You better pray nothing goes wrong before you get Kaitlyn out of there, or else I never let you go," an angry female voice roars on the line.

"Are you done making me laugh? Because nothing I told the cops was false. Especially that she's not my sister. So, if you don't mind, I'm going back to sleep. Have a nice day, Aunt Bitch!" She says.

Valerie slams her phone to the ground. That bitch niece of hers never took her words seriously. She needs to find a way to get Kaitlyn out of jail. First she tries calling James family.

"Hello Mr Marshall. I'm Valerie Bridge, Lauren's aunt. Did James call you about what Lauren did to him and my daughter?" she asks.

James father was currently trying to deal with James's arrest and didn't have time to deal with anyone else.

"Yes, I know. I'm working on his bail right now. Is there something I can do for you, Ms Bridge?" he asks her.

"I was calling to ask if you had any plans to help release Kaitlyn as well. After all, she's pregnant with James's child now. Wouldn't you feel bad if she loses your future grandchild?" Valerie tells him.

James's father sucked in a gasp. 'Kaitlyn is pregnant by James? Why didn't that fool listen to me about keeping it in his pants until he had Lauren locked in the marriage? That girl can't do anything to help the company' he thinks.

"I'm sorry, Ms Bridge. James never told us about the pregnancy. I'll call Lauren to see if she can drop the charges on them," he tells her before disconnecting.

Mr Marshall calls Lauren, who answers right away.

"Good morning, Mr Marshall," Lauren says.

"Lauren, I'm sorry to call you so early. James made a mistake. For the sake of your love history, can you let him go?" Mr Marshall asks her.

Lauren laughs in the background. 'What love history? He was with her for months' she thinks.

"I'm sorry, Mr Marshall, but it's really out of my hands now. They were caught by the police in a place they had no right to be. They stole from me. And James was planning to drug me just to get a hefty settlement out of our divorce. The police heard it. It's not me that did this, sir. But you should know the engagement is off now. Good-bye," Lauren says.

Lauren goes to her room, and sees that the bedding is gone. She calls her assistant that she won't be in today and to reschedule any meetings. After a shower she decides to dress casually today. A pair of custom made skinny jeans show off her long legs. A fitted blouse shows off her C cup sized chest, while cinching at her slender waist. A pair of plain black heels and a low ponytail makes her look younger than her 24 years. She could pass for a high school student. She checks the mirror to see if she needs any makeup to hide any blemishes. She has her mother's features: fair and smooth skin, plump bow shaped lips, small nose, and high cheekbones. From her father, she got her best features: long straight black hair and a big pair of dark grey eyes, ringed in blue. Many people compare her to a delicate porcelain doll. As a child, her parents called her their little elf princess.
