Chapter 9 Horde Attacks

Two weeks had passed since Alec's grandfather discovered his grandson's abilities, Alec was now hailed as the prodigy of the Gordon clan, surpassing the other dual-element kids who had taken a whole week to reach Tier 1 mage status.

The family's younger generation was showing promise, with numerous young mages emerging, while some of the new mages grew complacent, taking a break from their training, Alec remained diligent.

A few days had passed however he dedicated himself to combat training during the day and honing his golem-making skills at night.

To acknowledge his achievements, his grandfather gave him a space pouch as a gift, though Alec suspected it was just another indulgence from the old man.

Alec's hard work and dedication during training paid off handsomely; as his basic combat skills soared to level five, a remarkable accomplishment in such a short period.

[Basic combat skills -Lvl 5( 45/500)]

He also improved his golem creation skill and could now create seven other golems apart from Titan, even though there wasn't a level indicator to showcase his progress in crafting golems, he could feel a significant improvement in his ability to craft sturdy golems compared to when he first started as a mage.

Furthermore, he discovered that the system could communicate or actually there was something inside the system that acted as a guide, but it seemed reluctant to reach out due to the energy it consumed.

The system spirit informed him that every question he asked would cost him 20 mana, regardless of whether or not it could provide an answer, this revelation left Alec feeling uncertain about trusting the system.

Still, he ultimately decided to take advantage of the system's rapid power growth and asked a few questions that had been lingering in his mind.

Determined, he opened his status tab and inquired about his burning questions.

He had leveled up to level 2, thanks to all the training and dedicated meditation he had been practicing.

"What is your purpose?" Alec asked, curiosity filling his voice.

[ X: My primary purpose is to make the host the strongest mage alive. ]

The system spirit responded, its words resonating in Alec's mind.

Alec checked his mana, only to realize it had reduced by 20.

"Hmm, it seems the system wasn't lying about the 20 mana per question," Alec thought.

"Who created you?"

Alec asked the question that had been bothering him, as he believed he might be a plaything of some God, someone watching him like an experiment.

[×: Question invalid!!!, So that you know, I have transferred with you to help you become the strongest mage.

"Hmm, another waste of 20 mana," Alec muttered to himself when he realized that his mana had reduced to 60 from 80, even though the system spirit hadn't given him the answer he desired.

"Well, I guess that solves all I need to know about the system; I'll have to level up quickly and see if it finally answers my questions," Alec said.

"It's an attack! All mages, report for duty at the gates!"

A middle-aged man shouted as he rushed towards the family gates.

"Hmm, it seems my first battle is about to start," Alec said.

He quickly allocated his available points to agility to improve his running speed.

When he started running straight towards the gates, he noticed he was much faster than average, and he swiftly caught up with the rest of the family members, who also made their way to the city gates.

"Alec!" He turned back to see Arthur and the rest of the younger generations lagging.

He then slowed down a little so they could catch up.

"What is it?" Alec asked immediately.

"Have you heard any information about the attack? "Arthur asked, however Alec shook his head to indicate he had no idea about the attack details.

"Even better, I have some information," Arthur smirked.

"Just spill it, dumbass," Alec said impatiently.

"Okay! I got a little info from an older guard passing by. It was said that a level 5 zombie horde is heading straight for our city," Arthur explained.

"But how is that possible? I thought zombie hordes only occurred during a Blood Moon, and it's not night-time, let alone a Blood Moon," Alec questioned.

"Now, that's where you're mistaken, man; not all zombies can return to their dimensions after an attack, So those who are left gather around the highest-level zombie, waiting for the next blood moon to join the next attacking force," Arthur clarified.

"However, occurrences like this are infrequent since most high-level zombies escape quickly when they realize the portal is closing, however this time, a level 5 zombie wasn't able to escape when the city lord cut off its right arm, leaving it lagging, Now that it has recovered its strength, so it's seeking revenge," Arthur explained all the details to Alec.

"Hmm, so we're up against a Tier 5 zombie Commander ?" Alec asked.

"No, it's not a zombie commander. It's a Tier 5 zombie brain monster, a mental type," Arthur clarified with a laugh.

"Hahaha, what did you think? Can a zombie commander lead a horde that would make the city lord call on the family clan mages? Don't make me laugh." Arthur said.
