Chapter 4 Ch 4 - Alex

Alex

Oh, my head hurts. I could have sworn that there is a marching band with the bass drumming right beside me. I shouldn't have drunk that much. Wait. Why did I drink that much? I normally don't get drunk.

The image of the pretty girl flirting with me suddenly flashes in my mind. Ah, I normally don't stay that long in the bar. I usually leave rather quickly, and I don't usually get a chance to drink too much. Ugh... That stupid bet has another unwelcomed side effect. Note to self, I need to stop drinking sooner so I don't get so drunk.

With my eyes still closed, I roll over in the bed, but I suddenly hit something hard. There shouldn't be anything hard in my bed. Wait. I take a whiff, and a faint aroma of tobacco fills my nose. This doesn't smell like my room. No. This smells very different. Where am I?

I slowly open my eyes. Fortunately, the blinds are closed and only a small amount of the morning sun is able to weave around them and get into the room.

I slowly glance around the room before my eyes are pulled back to a tan muscular back directly beside of me. Well, this is not something I'm expecting. Where exactly am I? This isn't my room, but whose is it.

I try to move backwards and away from the sleeping person. However, my throbbing headache stops me in my tracks. My effort to keep my head up is making my head throb even harder. Reluctantly, I lay back down, but I do manage to slide a little farther away from the sleeping guy and his broad muscular shoulders.

This day isn't starting out so good.

Once again, my eyes slowly begin to roam around the room trying to find anything that would give me a sign of whose room this is. My gaze stops across the room at a blue engineering shirt draped over the chair in front of a desk. Okay, so the guy is an engineer, but who do I know that is an engineer. Wait. I don't anyone that well who is an engineer, but Brandon did introduce us to a couple of his close friends who are engineers.

Ugh. Even thinking is making my head hurt. I slowly rub my temples as I try desperately to get my headache under control.

What actually happened last night? I don't like not knowing. However, I can't really try to think right now.

I glance over to the nightstand and spot my phone.

Without thinking, I reach over and grab it. Dang. Just moving is making the pounding in my head worse. I need some medicine and quick.

Surprisingly, no one has sent me any messages. I sigh and put my phone back.

As I roll back into my previous spot, I drape my arm across my face and eyes. What am I going to do now?

The bed moves slightly, but I ignore it. My head is throbbing too much for me to even try and talk to whoever is sleeping beside me.

A deep familiar voice asks, "How are you feeling this morning? Do you have a hangover?"

With my arm still across my eyes and face, I nod my head. "Yes. Do you happen to have some medicine?"

He shifts slightly. "Yes. Hold on and I'll get it along with some water."

Keeping my eyes covered, I try to remember which of the guys from last night has that voice. The bed rises and the guy climbs out of the bed. He walks around the room and then his footsteps trail off as the guy leaves the room.

I need to go home, but I don't think I can right now. Why did I drink so much?

The footsteps come back into the bedroom. "Here. I got you some medicine and a bottle of water."

I finally take my arm off my face and open my eyes. I nearly choke on my own saliva as I'm greeted with David in only a pair of boxers. His tan muscular chest on full display while he leans towards me as I try to sit up and look away.

He sits down on the bed beside me and hands me a couple pills and a bottle of water. "Take these and you should start to feel better soon. I'll go take a quick shower and run and get us some food."

I nod my head. I don't really know what to say, so I obediently follow his directions.

He begins to get up off the bed, and a thought suddenly pops into my head. I softly ask, "Why am I at your place? Why didn't you take me home instead?"

David chuckles and sits back down on the bed. A soft smile spreads across his face. "Well, I did try to ask where you live, but you wouldn't tell me, and Paul left with Brandon before I could ask him."

I tilt my head. "Why didn't you ask Chance?"

David chuckles again. "He was worse off than you. Kai took him back home and I believe he stayed there with him."

My eyebrows furrow. "How do you know that he stayed with Chance?"

His smile widens, as he slowly begins to caress my arm. "Kai shares this apartment with me, and I didn't hear him come in last night. I will go check his room before I leave to get us some food, but I'm pretty sure that he isn't in there."

I slowly nod my head. "Oh."

He stands up from the bed and looks down at me. His smile still wide with a small sparkle in his eyes.

He ruffles my hair and chimes, "Take the medicine and rest. I'll be back in a little bit with some food."

I nod my head.

I keep my eyes on him as he walks around his bedroom getting some clothes and then heading out of the room. Not long after, I can hear water running.

I shake my head to clear my thoughts, but instead I get another surge of pain as my head begins to throb again. I quickly toss the pills into my mouth and swallow some water. I hope the medicine kicks in soon.

I carefully set the bottle of water on the nightstand and sink back into the bed. I close my eyes only for a moment and drift off to sleep.
